The good thing about Cullen's romance as an adviser/NPC is I won't feel obligated to drag my LI around with me everywhere I go. I swear Alistair, Fenris, and Garrus hardly ever left my party, unless it was absolutely necessary. In actuality, my LI has always helped even out my party. Alistair with my rogue Dalish, Fenris with my mage Hawke (and Garrus with my adept Shepard, but we're not talking about Mass Effect. Haha). But now I can really mix up the party.

 

However, part of the reason I liked bringing my LI was for the little moments I imagined in my head. My LI and I fighting side by side, watching out for each other. We protected each other, and we could see that we had both made it through the fight. However, I was just thinking...

 

Cullen won't be there with us, to see that we're alive and well after each battle. While I'm not asking that he hug me and praise the Maker every time I come home, I would like there to be some little bit of recognition, something that an Inquisitor that isn't in a relationship doesn't get. An acknowledgement that we are in a relationship and he's relieved to see me return. A little smile, or a word or two. Something more than, "Oh, there you are."

 

There's over 2000 pages here, so I'm sure you lovely folks have discussed this before. Just wanted to say my piece. This thread moves so fast, that half the time I feel like if I say something it'll just slow everybody down.

About Cullen in Dragon Age 2: At the endgame, I really would have liked to see the scene with the surrendering Mages on the path where Hawke sides with the Mages and isn't there to (potentially) be the voice of reason.

 

See Cullen really show doubt and disgust when Meredith orders them to be killed. Would he stand up and say no without Hawke to egg him on? It would make his latter decision to go against Meredith when she orders Hawkes immediate execution and letting Hawke leave much more impactful, imo.

I understand what you mean about always having LI's with you. Mine was always in my team which always meant that anyone similar was usually left out. In fact I don't think I ever used shale or oghren. So it will be a change to base my team solely around my character.

I think Cullen will be around somewhere. He's a busy man now, he has all these soldiers he's responsible for, so I suppose he will be with them. And I think we will be encountering him from time to time. I bet he will be on the front lines when we are leading a siege, and he will yell something inspirational to us and his men. And maybe he will also inspect the camps from time to time, maybe even go with patrols, and we will be running into him occasionally while we are exploring the area. I hope we will be seeing him often enough Because for me adventuting together is important for my pixel romances

I only had him in my party once, running around Orzammar and he was having a chart with Alistair and in my head my Cousland was like "Whoah, hold on a minute. I'm right here, you can't talk about your fearless leader's fumblings like that". Sounds like I missed out on a few more gems.

Oh, I loved having Alistair in my party! I mean, he was my LI, but one of my favourite parts about taking him around everywhere with me was mixing up the party so I could hear all the party banter with him. It's hilarious how all the other companions make fun of him   it almost always took him a while to catch on, that cutie
