Do we know if romances will work simiiar to DA2? For example if you were friendly/rivalry with companions the romance has slight differences? Do you think the same will be with Cullen?

Also, do you think the romance may play out differently depending on race/class--for example a mage vs a warrior inquisitor or a human vs elf/dwarft/qunari one? Sorry if this has already been discussed.

Okay, seriously, where is the ignore button?

Upper right, click on the drop down menu on your username, select Ignore Prefs. But! Don't forget to report him first! :)

I think a too-serious thread would drive away just as many prospective fans, though. There needs to be a balance, and I think we do a good job of that here. The news of his inclusion as an LI and prospective news has made this thread heavily trafficked, but that'll slow down eventually.

I literally just gave an example of someone staying away from the thread because it's too ridiculous of late.

Okay, seriously, where is the ignore button?

1. First, highlight and copy the person's name

2. Go to your name in the upper right hand corner of the screen and click the drop down menu

3. Select "manage my ignore preferences"

4. Paste the person's name in the box

5. Makes sure you check "posts" in the list of things you want to ignore by that person

6. Click "Save Changes"

Happy Ignoring!

I used to ship them (perhaps out of anger that I couldn't romance either of them with my preferred PC) but after awhile I started to realize that they genuinely did not like each other. The thought of them together now kinda squicks me, but I totally get the pairing, and you could definitely headcanon that it was sexual tension between them.

Only time I draw the line at the whole "the really do want each other" idea is Fenders  Nope, just can't do it! But I know it's popular, and I can see why... it's HAWT lol

I feel that way about Fenders, as well.  I certainly *get* it, but I'm pretty sure the only thing keeping Fenris from just shanking Anders is Hawke. *grin*

Well I don't think we know how romances will play out, although I think they said the friendship/rivalry system is out? Anyone can verify that??

I hope class and even specialization makes a difference; for example, DA2 I thought it was great that a mage could romance Fenris, and he DID notice; it was sprinkled throughout his dialog and even affected approval, but a blood mage? It was ridiculous that Fenris would ever fall in love with a blood mage, and the same for Cullen. I really don't want to see Cullen falling for a blood mage; it makes no sense and ignore everything about the character!

I didn't think it was too bad as of late (a bit fast, but, there are a lot of people). I do apologize that my posting may have caused someone discomfort.

Yeah :)

A lot of us have been Cullen fans for years and have been a part of this little "group" for a long time. We've been harassed, trolled, insulted, and not just by other forumers, even sometimes by devs who got the wrong idea about us. So I guess a lot of us older folks are a bit sensitive about the way our fandom is portrayed.

And this is what drew me to the thread in the first place. I mean, I can be a Cullen fan all by myself (*grin*), but I love that the majority of ya'll (us? heh) are sensible and mellow. :) Or at least, less...super excitable than other fandoms. :)

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. I think it would be interesting if a mage character does pick blood mage specialization and it ends the romance. I think it would be in character for Cullen. I did like how DA2 the difference in the romance with Fenris being a mage vs warrior/rogue.  If there is a templar specialization that could be interesting too--they could talk about the Red Templars, the shared addiction to lyrium etc. If class/specialization changes the romance or decisions you make in the game---- I will have to have many playthoughs to romance CUllen---for science :D

Thanks, and I apologize, too, if I've hurt any feelings. :) I felt I had to say something, because, and I'll be perfectly honest here, guys, I'm kind of "this close" to leaving the fandom myself.

omg, YES!!--imagine that you've begun the romance, and everything is going swimmingly. You reach level 15 or whatever and select the "blood mage" specialization. Next time you go to chat and make kisses with Cullen :P he shocks the hell out of you by accusing you of becoming a blood mage and breaks up with you!

See, usually I stay away from threads like these, because they can get super crazy/weird fans that take everything as a religion. I didn't get that vibe here. Hence: Here I am. I thought this group to be a laid back, fun, social group that just took everything in stride. I also stray away from super strict, professional groups, as well. I wouldn't have even begun talking here if I thought otherwise.

I agree! Sometimes I wish they'd get rid of the Blood Mage specialization because it's so hard to integrate into the story. That said, being a blood mage is bloody awesome.

Ack! Please don't? You're one of the reasons I continue to come here! I love your insights on things (even when I don't agree, or agree differently, or whatever *grin*)!

If he is a companion and you are a blood mage, maybe he leaves the party. Or if he is an NPC, he withdraws support from the Inquisition...

Some people don't even go the romance route. For them, I can see them having their specializations such as blood magic and the like.

I want to say that what attracted me to the Cullen thread is that it wasn't the squee fest of my imagination. Sure there was a fair bit of good natured humour and semi naked Cullens but it was broken up with large chunks of character and game discussion. In the end I didn't drop by the Cullen thread for giggles I came because the people here knew their Dragon Age and discussed it without hostility.

Haha or we could agree but I present my side in such a relentlessly snobby fashion that it turns you and everyone else off... yeah... No seriously, I don't plan to leave, but I'd just been feeling irritated and embarrassed lately, and even tonight I was thinking, might as well close the BSN tab, after hours the Cullen thread is now nothing but pure, pure silliness. And now that I've finally got the lady balls to tweet and talk to devs, I kind of started feeling embarrassed about being seen as a Cullen fan, believe it or not!

In DAO/DAA, being a Blood Mage/Arcane Warrior is like being a god. It's great. The only thing that takes away from it the lack of acknowledgement.

Remember how, gosh, someone said they would like each Specialization to be tied to a quest? Well, perhaps if you take Cullen on that quest, he tries to talk you out of it. Promises to break up with you. That sort of thing.

Exactly. I never talk on forum threads. I deemed this one a good enough one to make effort. Heck, I hardly use social media, either! *hence my lack of Twitter know-how xD*

Wow that would actually be pretty devastating LOL I guess as someone who never plays as a blood mage, it's wrong for me to say I hope this actually happens...

DA:O had something vaguely similarly... when you got to a certain level of friendship a follower could "teach" you stuff. I remember once I was a mage though and wanted Zev to train me; he said he could only train a "rogue." I was like, okay, that's ridiculous, "rogue" is an RPG term, it's not a real thing lol

I've never tried to be a blood mage though I guess there is no conversation points accusing you of that specialization. It would be interesting if such acknowledgment occurs. Though I am not sure if I like the idea of a class or a class subset being excluded from romance option even if it would be more realistic.

So maybe with love, respect and recognising that it has all been very exciting lately we can agree to do a little housekeeping and tone down the silliness. :)
