I'm not sure if anyone else has thought about this, but what if one of the two race gated LIs is actually Cullen? And that he couldn't be romanced by human Inquisitor because they are related by blood in some way?
The thought occurred to me since David Gaider once said very teasingly something along the lines "So that's Cullen's full/last name". To me it sounds like there was something surprising in his last name - and that it was important enough to be tweeted about. At first I thought that he might be King Maric and Fiona's son but yesterday it was confirmed that Alistair is their son so that trashed it.
Another reason why I considered this was because yesterday in the Q/A one of the developers said that two of the romances would be race restricted because of "story reasons" - not personal race preference reasons. The devs might just have said story reasons just because no better wording occurred to them atm but yeah.
I know this doesn't sound very solid speculation but wanted to say it anyway.
That would be very interesting and wouldn't personally bother me, but I have my doubts that they'd restrict the race people seem to play as most-- I mean they COULD, but it seems odd? There would need to be very specific story reasons why they would even make Cullen and the Human PC related, otherwise why do that at all?
One thing I just realised, none of the revealed LIs have a French accent, (apart from maybe Cassandra, but her VA said she purposefully gave her an ambiguously mixed accent, iirc), despite Orlais being a massive part of this game. That seems weird to me.

We've talked about this a little bit, and it seems everyone except me thinks this would be the worst idea ever. Me? I'm cackling about how awesome a story that could be. But the main problem is, well, how related would Cullen be to the Trevelyan family, and how would they deal with that in the game. It almost feels like that would have to be a large part of the Inquisitor and Cullen's interactions.
I'm still pulling for Cullen being Goldanna's long-lost brother, and another illegitimate Therin.
I would actually laugh my ass off it comes to that (and I intend to play a human).
Most players use humans and never anything else, though. In Origins the proportion was something like 80% human.
If fans made a new game and couldn't romance Cullen with a female human, they'd react with the fury of a thousand suns. I just can't see a situation where the developers would do this - it's shooting themselves in the foot.
It's possible, but so, so, so unlikely, I think.
I don't think that the developers will really decide that based on the fans preferences. If Cullen's background would make a great story and create a lot of drama (from a storytelling point of view) they will probably look into it. And I think they should. However, I don't think that Cullen will be race-gated. My money is still on Iron Bull (and maybe Varric although I'm not sure if he will be a LIl).
Still... I'm giggling over here. If Cullen really were related to the human Quizzy, David Gaider could collect a lot of tears for his jar .

Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god! I have never heard him sing before! Gah! I totally squeed over that! Now I'm never going to get to sleep because I won't be able to stop thinking about how purty Cullen is going to sound singing! I feel all jumped up on caffeine but I'm not!!

My list, (including them all together since they all have similar budgets):
Vivienne - she's just so beautiful and perfect! She's exactly what I want in a LI and a friend and I generally think she's bloody brilliant.
Cullen - been waiting for Cullen for years now. He's definitely one of the most interesting characters in my opinion, and his scar is certainly a big part in my attraction for him. Canon Inquisitor romance for sure.
Josephine - she's adorables and Antivan to boot! If Vivienne is not a LI, Josephine will definitely help heal the hole in my heart.
Sera - once again, she's adorable, and I've had her picked out as my bezzie mate since the survey leak. The only thing worrying me about her is the fear she won't like my Inquisitor.
Cole - I'm very interested in this guy now, which is weird considering I really did not like him throughout Asunder and my first two Inquisitors won't accept his help.
Iron Bull - the fact he's still Qunari makes me giddy, clearly a lot internal struggle here. Only let down by the fact he seems to be another 'shag all the things' bisexual
Cassandra - I'd be a lot more excited for her if I knew I could romance her. But she's still great, and this is still a relatively high spot in my list.
Leliana - she really surprised me in the E3 demo. The personality shift from Origins is really intriguing and I love where her character is going. I also didn't realise how much I loved her until I saw her in the demo.
Solas - now things are looking a lot bleaker. Honestly, the only thing keeping me interested in Solas is the new information that he's apparently Welsh, and I have a MASSIVE thing for Welsh accents. Other than that? Pretty bored by him to be honest.
Dorian - same problem. I'm not really seeing any huge character flaws apart from his idealism, which can still be considered a good thing. I suppose perhaps if he's blindly idealistic, but that would only serve to annoy me further to be honest. Only good thing is his relationship with Vivienne which sounds very much like me and my best friend.
Varric - never cared for him in DA2, don't really care now.
Blackwall - only so low because I think his true interest is all spoiler and hasn't been given away yet. Right now though, he's pretty much a generic paladin-type to me. But I know my opinion of him will no doubt change if Sheryl Chee is writing him.

Cullen- He's Cullen. He has been awesome in two games, of cource he'll be awesome in DAI as well. And I have waited for him so long!
Solas- This is odd cause first I didn't care about him but somehow the hype got me too and now I'm really excited and I hope he's romance option! He sounds very witty and intresting. He seems easy to get along with and I want to hear his fade stories and also see his interaction with Cole.
Dorian- He's hot and I want to twirl his moustache. I'm eager to hear another opinion in Tevinter and I like that his both confident and driven to do good.
Leliana- I love her new look and she's just badass now. I think she has lot of knowledge as well about happenings around the world. I'm happy to have her in my team.
Cole- Loved him in Asunder and I'm very intrested to see character who aren't "normal". Spirit in the party sounds great idea to me XD Also I want to hug him :3
Cassandra- She is strong badass woman. I have felt immediately love with her in first sight, her looks are pretty much how I want my characters to look and she has many qualities I like.
I'm mediocorely intrested in other companions and advisors and with some it doesn't make me much difference if they are in the game or not, but this is what I excepted so I'm not angry or sad about it at all XD Actually I'm amazed I'm liking so many characters so far, it'll be hard to chose my party!
