I would actually laugh my ass off it comes to that (and I intend to play a human).

 

 

I don't think that the developers will really decide that based on the fans preferences. If Cullen's background would make a great story and create a lot of drama (from a storytelling point of view) they will probably look into it. And I think they should. However, I don't think that Cullen will be race-gated. My money is still on Iron Bull (and maybe Varric although I'm not sure if he will be a LIl).

 

Still... I'm giggling over here. If Cullen really were related to the human Quizzy, David Gaider could collect a lot of tears for his jar .

 

 

Cullen will not be related to Human Noble. It just won't happen.   If he is race gated it would like be for Qunari only

I'm not sure if anyone else has thought about this, but what if one of the two race gated LIs is actually Cullen? And that he couldn't be romanced by human Inquisitor because they are related by blood in some way?

 

The thought occurred to me since David Gaider once said very teasingly something along the lines "So that's Cullen's full/last name". To me it sounds like there was something surprising in his last name - and that it was important enough to be tweeted about. At first I thought that he might be King Maric and Fiona's son but yesterday it was confirmed that Alistair is their son so that trashed it.

 

Another reason why I considered this was because yesterday in the Q/A one of the developers said that two of the romances would be race restricted because of "story reasons" - not personal race preference reasons. The devs might just have said story reasons just because no better wording occurred to them atm but yeah.

 

I know this doesn't sound very solid speculation but wanted to say it anyway.

I think we are going to meet the real Bianca and help Varric reunite with her. That will be why he won't be romancable.

 

What happens if we can't romance somebody...because somebody in our family (related to us) did something horrible to a companions family or friend?

This pretty much confirmes that Alistair mother was half elf which makes very very likely that Alistair is Fiona's son.

Maric had a thing for elves, so I'm not sure we can definitively say that Maric is Fiona's child. Odds are good, yes, and I certainly wouldn't mind it, but there is a possibility that Alistiar's mother was really Goldana's mother as he believes, an elven servant at Castle Redcliffe. Because Goldana's mother would have to have been an elf if Goldana was, and both Alistair and Goldana seem to acknowledge that Maric had relations with the woman. A dev saying "Hence, Alistair" is not quite the same as a dev saying "Alistair is the child of Maric and Fiona."

 

I am not saying you are wrong. In all probability, you're right. I'm just saying that the part you quoted (can't watch the video because I'm at work) does not prove the case as absolute confirmation.

It wasn't me who suggested that. Personally, I don't think that he will be race gated since the dev said that that only  two of the characters will be. The thought that Cullen might not be available for humans (probably the majority of the players) makes me giggle.

I feel the race-gated LIs will be amongst those we haven't been shown yet. I just don't really see any story reasons for Cullen, Cassandra, Sera or Dorian to be gated? Any of those could be, of course, but you'd think if they had something against a particular race that would be mentioned in their interview.

Damn Iron Bull's voice throws me every time I hear it. He did a bang up job, but it's apparently not what I expected, even though I didn't think I was putting any expectations on the characters. It'll take me a little bit to get used to that.

I agree with you. It doesn`t prove that Alistair is Fiona`s son although it`s still a possibility. I was just sharing the quote where people are extrapolating this from  .
