The templar needing/not needing lyrium to smite people thing is iffy.
I believe what Alistair said in the game was retconned in the comics: Templars do have to take lyrium to use their abilities.

I already had a headcanon that Templars were just another form of hedgemage. Can't connect with the Fade like a full mage but still has latent abilties. The chantry just hides by saying that the ineligible don't have the "discipline" to be a Templar. The lyrium just makes their abilities more potent and Alistair says that a Templar doesn't NEED the lyrium to use their anti-magic, it is just easier and more powerful. Just like a regular mage and using lyrium. =p
I think that part about templars not having to use lyrium has been retconed in the comics or something...I remember someone mention it here while we were discussing about templars and lyrium in general..

Right, I mean, it seems to me that ML did not specifically say, "There will be three members of each class on your team." To me that is significant, and I await the lovely Ashe's ability to ask them about this and clarify for us.

There is another possibility. What if they changed up the weapons system, and rouges now can have a sword and sheild, but have different movements and abilities with that.

I am leaning to Grey Warden being a rogue or not being in the game, personally. There is a lot of art for him and the alpha, but no rumored writer (where most of the other semi-confirmed companions have been mentioned in some capacity by a writer... P.Weekes was talking about Iron Bull months before his confirmation in the magazine). So I am wondering if maybe he just ended up being cut for some reason.

I hate to think of him being cut for shallow reasons, because he was the only other male I found attractive
But seriously, I don't think he is a rogue, unless it's a blatant attempt to trick us, since he has appeared as a S&S warrior both in game play footage and the armor demo on the BioWare blog.
But if he's dropped, and that means Cullen's a companion, it's a sad, sad sacrifice I'm reluctantly ready to make.
