Haha or we could agree but I present my side in such a relentlessly snobby fashion that it turns you and everyone else off... yeah... No seriously, I don't plan to leave, but I'd just been feeling irritated and embarrassed lately, and even tonight I was thinking, might as well close the BSN tab, after hours the Cullen thread is now nothing but pure, pure silliness. And now that I've finally got the lady balls to tweet and talk to devs, I kind of started feeling embarrassed about being seen as a Cullen fan, believe it or not!

No, I get that. It was something I just chalked up to my being an old lady. You know, "Oh these kids and their fun!" *grin*  I know we're all amazingly excited about everything that's going, and GE is just *so* kind and open to us, I get it. I just have to step back sometimes. I do think, though, that there are enough different personality types to keep something of a balance, though.

Believe it or not, I've never done it, because I'm just like, blood magic!!!!  :o  :o  :o Can't... can't do it...  :pinched:

Yeah, neither have I. Closest I came was that special potion at Warden's Keep... and it just seemed sort of dumb to bleed myself to death during a fight.

I hope they add more spells to blood magic because our only attack move was to stab ourselves in the gut

Thanks for the link, R2, but I know there was a post somewhere where he stated that the Therein line ends with Alistair. Gah! The search continues.

Quoting myself because I officially give up trying to find this. I was going to try to ask DG himself, but, alas, he doesn't have "ask" on his Tumblr.

I've never tried to be a blood mage though I guess there is no conversation points accusing you of that specialization. It would be interesting if such acknowledgment occurs. Though I am not sure if I like the idea of a class or a class subset being excluded from romance option even if it would be more realistic.

I think the only way it would work is if there are a bunch of warning signs. Like, Cullen says he has nightmares about Blood Mages, or he always goes hard line "Kill the blood mage," when brought out to fight them (if a companion) or advocates sending out troops to wipe out known camps of blood mages (if a NPC). It would have to be made obvious.

So maybe with love, respect and recognising hat it has all been very exciting lately we can agree to do a little housekeeping and tone down the silliness. :)

I shall put forth a great effort to do so!

I only took that potion because I (my character) read that he was searching for a way to stop or contain the taint. I've never chosen the blood mage for any of my characters, but the banter with Anders in DAA when you choose it for him is amusing.

Well, first you bleed yourself, then you bleed your tank.

What? Alistair never complained!

(That's another thing they could address, but that might be stuffing too much story into gameplay mechanics.)

Not that I could find anyway. And it's usually pretty obvious.

I want to say that what attracted me to the Cullen thread is that it wasn't the squee fest of my imagination. Sure there was a fair bit of good natured humour and semi naked Cullens but it was broken up with large chunks of character and game discussion. In the end I didn't drop by the Cullen thread for giggles I came because the people here knew their Dragon Age and discussed it without hostility.

I'm out of Likes, so I just wanted to express my support for all of these. I think it's been a little bit of a shaky start with the new thread. It's a very new dynamic we're still working out, particularly with so many new faces. I think we can find our way, but toning it down and getting back to the discussions that we enjoy is probably a good strategy.

Look, in my own defense, I know that I have contributed to this "silly fest", but, I do so only because that is all it is: being silly and not taking anything to heart. Otherwise, what else is there to do? Twiddle our thumbs until the next strain of news comes around...occasionally? Speculate until we turn blue? Talk about past character choices that have, in all senses, mostly already been talked about? Having fun is not necessarily a bad thing unless it gets out of hand. That would include: Rude comments, pming devs and VA's stupid/silly stuff, getting others involved when they clearly want no part, completely fangirling out on stuff (Meaning going wild with the "OMAHG#AWD1L0V3*insert name* SOOO MUUCHH". That stuff. I'm not trying to come off stand offish, but, I believe this side should be noted.

Yes, especially for new players who may not be as familiar with the lore of blood magic. Now, I am secretly hoping this happens in the game:) I am happy that Cullen is a romance--I was disappointed in DAO when Cullen said, "talk to me anytime you like." I kept clicking on him hoping to still talk him:)

It will be nice to get to know him better in the Inquisition. He may even have a few lines in there about Surana/Amell or Hawke. Also, I hope he gets some conversations with Varric as well.

Yeah, and like I said, you can simply add "/ask" (minus quote marks) after any tumblr url and that will take you to the person's ask page.

I agree that it has to be obvious. If a PC is open about blood magic or has heavy sympathies, it makes sense that characters like Cullen, Cassandra and possibly Vivienne will have a strong reaction. Similar reactions will be probably be evident towards npcs and even possibly another companion that is pro-blood mage.

LOL Ironically, I would say yes to these things. That's what the Cullen thread is about. Also having fun, but it is about speculating til we turn blue.

Honestly, I believe that if someone chose to be a blood mage, romances such as Cullen who hold such negative views on it should not be able to be romanced...

I wasn't stating that we wouldn't speculate, I was stating that we shouldn't have to do just that. That we can have fun too. Otherwise, it's not much of a welcoming forum to many people who wish to enjoy chatting and sharing their fun/crazy speculations and still feel like there is an air of human interaction within the group.

I do agree especially if companions are more reactive to major choices and class specializations unlike previous games. However, if there is an option to be more covert about supporting that subset of mages, it could be possible to still romance such characters. As I mentioned previously, I would prefer if romance options like Cullen would not close off due to your class and/or choice of specialization. The only way this would be acceptable to me would be if there are 6 LI options.

I'm just pulling into the discussion now but I'll add my two cents: It seems I'm in agreement with quite a few of you when feeling like the silliness is starting to push the envelope here and there. Don't get me wrong... I love goofing off but I think moderation is the key. I know there are many new faces around lately, which is wonderful! Some of us may recall a while back though when a poster took it upon themselves to tweet or message a dev on behalf of the entire thread and quite frankly it was pretty embarrassing. Unless we've all taken a vote to make something "official" or speaking for the whole group here, I think it best to refrain from having this situation arise again. And like someone else just said (Artemis, was it you? I'm too lazy to look back), a couple of crazy Cullen pics are awesome but I do prefer having some big chunks of discussion as well.

Unless we're talking celebration pages... then all bets are off! Show mama some skin! Woot!

*grin* that's just it-It has been, and should be ALL of these things, and it will be as we learn the balance, with the entirely welcome addition of newer folks. :D I think the ability to shift and tilt and still maintain balance (apparently balance is my word of the day, sorry. :P ) is one of the things that sets this thread apart from other threads on the bsn here. :D
