I'm just pulling into the discussion now but I'll add my two cents: It seems I'm in agreement with quite a few of you when feeling like the silliness is starting to push the envelope here and there. Don't get me wrong... I love goofing off but I think moderation is the key. I know there are many new faces around lately, which is wonderful! Some of us may recall a while back though when a poster took it upon themselves to tweet or message a dev on behalf of the entire thread and quite frankly it was pretty embarrassing. Unless we've all taken a vote to make something "official" or speaking for the whole group here, I think it best to refrain from having this situation arise again. And like someone else just said (Artemis, was it you? I'm too lazy to look back), a couple of crazy Cullen pics are awesome but I do prefer having some big chunks of discussion as well.

Unless we're talking celebration pages... then all bets are off! Show mama some skin! Woot!

^You've just stated what I wanted to state! Just in a bit of a nicer way. I just don't want people to be freaking out all the time that they have this perfect joke or something silly that they really want to share, but are too scared to post on behalf that they would get blasted for it! xD

*grin* that's just it-It has been, and should be ALL of these things, and it will be as we learn the balance, with the entirely welcome addition of newer folks. :D I think the ability to shift and tilt and still maintain balance (apparently balance is my word of the day, sorry. :P ) is one of the things that sets this thread apart from other threads on the bsn here. :D

ommmmm .... balance is good, I agree :)

I do agree especially if companions are more reactive to major choices and class specializations unlike previous games. However, if there is an option to be more covert about supporting that subset of mages, it could be possible to still romance such characters. As I mentioned previously, I would prefer if romance options like Cullen would not close off due to your class and/or choice of specialization. The only way this would be acceptable to me would be if there are 6 LI options.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, I think it was stated that there are only 4?

The number of LIs has not been announced.

All still speculation at the moment.

Technically they have not said how many LIs. The standard is 4. However, we definitely have more companions in this game than we have previously.

However, it probably is just wishful thinking on my part.

Hoo-boy.

There has been no official word, but with Cullen's announcement as a LI, people have taken the idea he's a NPC and run with it. Having only 4 LI where one (or two) are NPC's is inconceivable, so there must be 6. And having 6 bisexual LI is impossible, so they must all have different sexualities.

It's sound logic, but it's all just a guess. (It's also part of the reason I want Cullen announced as a companion. Every theory is banking on him being an NPC, and they'd all topple like a house of cards. Oh, chaos.)

Honestly, what makes the most sense to me (in terms of LI's only) is Cullen being a companion and there being 4 bisexual LI's.

Ah ha! Got confused as many people are taking that as absolute with having GD apparently stating that there were to be 4.

Honestly, I knew the NPC part was a far stretch. The only speculation that has come from that has stemmed from ME3 and a supposed "leak". All I know is that in previous DA games, all romances have been in party and that there are generally 4 romances (5 if you count Sebastian).

I can only hope all the LIs (Cullen included) are companions. I tend to take my LI with me everywhere so I don't find non-companion LIs that interesting or compelling.

I feel like we (general forum populace) are completely missing something entirely about the LIs/companions in the midst of all of our speculation.

Just waiting to find out what it may be, if anything at all. This is why conclusion jumping is bad for your health.  ;)

And you really can't count Sebastian's romance, because that was part of an entirely different budget.

What I inquire is this: Do you think they would bank on having romance with NPC's given ME3's negative response to it? Or, do you believe they might actually like to try to tackle it to see if they could do it better: make a success story out of it, if they could?

As a fellow "old-lady" (looking at you Bramblefae :P ) and as a Cullen thread newbie, I just wanted to add: while I agree that the silliness is a little off-putting at times, the overall generosity of the thread is what drew me to post here in the first place. Even when you're disagreeing, you're polite about it! I still haven't been brave enough to post any thoughts anywhere other than here, simply out of fear of having my inards torn out. *squick*

tl;dr - I agree with meanieweenie, but I also think the thread is very welcoming! (I also used to lurk the thread on the BSN, but never got up the gumption to post. )

Exactly. Sometimes I poke into the romances threads to rattles the cages, see what they're thinking, and most of them are convinced there will be 6 LI's in the 2/2/2 pattern. At least one thing everyone is convinced of will be wrong, and it's gonna be a bloodshed on this forum.

I believe the DA team consider themselves separate from the ME team, and I don't think they like to be compared to one another. If the male LIs are both non-traditional, I can see the some of the writing team being convinced by others that they need at least a traditionally attractive male LI. And the writers giving in and saying, okay, we'll make Cullen a romance, happy now?

This is just speculation, of course!

I like the idea of having party banters, especially with an LI, personally. :)

I think DA would do NPC romances a lot better than ME3 did.

I'm saying that with the thought of whether or not they're in the game being entirely irrelevant.

I hope that they will not bother with it since it's faaaar more enjoyable to have you LI traveling with you. (And have the party banter involve them). But who knows? Maybe there is some new way they're using the NPC's that they think they can give a more fulfilling experience than ME3 had?

EDIT: Ha! Ninja'd several times! I really should learn to refresh...

If Cullen isn't a full companion, I will probably miss it at first simply because I also am used to dragging my LI everywhere with me. Mainly I don't want to miss any interaction or content with them. I'm kind of curious how the non-companion LI thing would work though. It may take some of that stress off and let me feel freer to play with my party slots more. (Oh Maker, that sounded filthy!  )

I guess it could work if you had a lot of plot reasons to interact with such characters. Otherwise it seems really superficial.

Even any writers could do justice to such a thing, the DA writers can.

Quite honestly, I don't see them doing an NPC romance due to their limited word budget. I think they'll probably stick to 4 LIs (or that could just be the hopeful part of me talking here ;) )

I just wanted to point out that you disagreed with R2, and agreed with Meanie....except- they basically said the same thing.

And this is not to anyone in particular, so don't get your panties in a twist, but...

In my extremely humble opinion, some of you guys go out of your way to make the rest of us look stupid. Which is why some of us no longer come around this thread. The whole point of being cool is not to try too hard to be cool. So be cool, yo, and stop embarrassing us.
