It could be that, actually I'd say that's probably it.
I was thinking about earlier in the thread when we where talking about him possibly being a noble, maybe it's a family armour and Skyhold was his family's castle?

Maybe the original Inquisition also had distinct military, political and intelligence branches, and the new Inquisition is just reusing the old symbols for each branch? So lions for military, owls for intelligence, ...um. Quills for political? :S

His glove? Don't forget there was that screen shot of a Keep being restored and they were building a big ass lion for it. The one with IB in the foreground.
So yeah I'd say its got to do with the Inquisition. The lion is the symbol of the military branch.

I hope we get more screenshots or little peaks of him from different angles. I've been trying to draw up sewing patterns and armour templates for the cosplay, but it's kind of difficult just going off of what we have now.

I think I have been looking at the flaming sword too long because I see it there too. It's almost like he kept bits and pieces of his Templar armor and just removed the insignia from the chestplate.
I can just imagine when the game's release everyone critiquing him and checking him out in all different angles trying to suss out his armour/clothing

do you mean his gauntlet? cos if you do it looks like the flaming sword. I say he is probably his old templar armor because it looks like there has been something removed from his chest piece. But when I went and looked at his armor in DA2 the pauldrons look nothing alike.

Oh, that's odd. What the hell is that? He is clasping the pommel of the sword so it hasn't got anything to do with that. So weird.
Also, in that other picture where he's outside with his sword raised, the sword he's using there is different. Makes me wonder if we can buy him different types of swords and shields to use when he's in battle? Kinda like how we can buy better equipment for our actual Inquisition itself.

The pauldrons I think might be a wardrobe upgrade for him. Bought himself some new duds, kept the armor.
Oh! So, if you look at the gauntlet that we can see (the one facing us), can you see that the Sword of Mercy is raised a little on it? I think that's what the pointy thing is. It's just the top of the Sword of Mercy on his other gauntlet.
EDIT: Or it could be the very top of his other gauntlet. Again, looking at the gauntlet that's facing us, it seems to flare a little outward (to give his wrist some moving room, I suppose), so it could also just be that instead of round it's a little tapered at the top?

It does look like it is on the glove, not his finger. Maybe a type of armor just by his thumb for his sword hand? Something to keep him from breaking his thumb in battle, but giving more control and feel of his sword than a fully armored glove.
