A word budget? So is that to prevent too much of the game being romance dialogue or to conserve disc space? If it's to prevent too much romance in a given playthroughs, the idea could work. If it's to conserve disc space? Then probably not.

 

It's more like... Each game is given an amount of words they can use throughout the entire game. This is the word budget. Each part of the game is given an amount of this budget. It has been stated that the resources have not been increased for DAI romance plots, thus the assumption that there are 4 LI's in DAI.

 

Note, that Sebastian's romance does not count towards this total. It is part of a DLC, and that has a separate budget.

I must confess that I'm not down with "official Cullenite" proclamations to Greg Ellis like this either. It's a little much. 

 

 

I know, true I just wish people wouldn't group us all together. I'm a Cullen fan, but I'm not that crazy and not the type of person to tweet the VA crazy stuff. I mostly like to talk about the character. So I figure if you're going to tweet silly stuff, do it for yourself and not in the name of all his fans.

Okay, okay, truth is, they spent the budget in order to ensure that each romance gets randomly generated flowers for you. I.E Cullen in your game will give you white roses while in my game he'll give me pink tulips. xD

Technically you can't get the love scene with Alistair until after you do his personal quest and give him his mother's amulet. I was being sarcastic, mostly. 

 

But I can very easily get him maxed out and exhaust nearly all his non-plot induced dialogue  right after Lothering.  Though this is also through using gifts as well, but point still being it is possible.

I don't think anyone was targeting a specific poster.  It was just a general statement of tone.

 

We have to remember that many of the people in this thread have had to push this barrel up hill while being dismissed as unintelligent, hormone driven idiots by a large proportion of the BSN.  Currently Cullenites are more accepted than I've ever seen before, so they've fought the good fight and are winning but we have been the poster girls for cringeworthy behaviour and everything people don't want to be associated with in fans, for a long time.

 

So silliness while it has it's place in moderation can seem to play into the hands of our detractors.  It is awful to be dismissed as stupid by people who haven't visited the thread without giving those that do the ammunition they need to say 'I have visited the thread and all I saw was sexy pictures and giggling nitwits.'

 

So don't feel bad, just be a little aware of perceptions.

Finally got it updated. I guess most in this thread are americans, so many posts while I sleep.

 

To address some discussions fastly.

 

1. I love Cailan and slightly dislike Anora. It's mostly about their personalities, Cailan is friendly and funny, Anora just rubs me in wrong way I guess.

2. I wonder if there is Special K in Finland.. I have to go check it out when I go to store ^^

3. I like this thread very much but I'm more used to everyone on their own than thinking I represent everyone, probaply cause I'm new in forums. I pretty much hijacked this thread when I joined so I'm not sure how to act around Bioware forums. Uh.. but if you think jokes goes too far just say ^^;

4. I really hope Cullen's romance is similar than Fenris' in regards of magic. It'd be really odd if Cullen didn't mention Inquisitor being mage or if that doesn't affect to their interactions at all. I actually like blood magic in fights, it makes your mage a tank which is nice to have in team so I hope being blood mage doesn't affect too much to your relationships.. though it'd be nice if there was some mentions of that too.

I'll just choose the nice, non-flirty leading on dialogue and roll with it if I'm going to romance someone else/no one at all. Yet I must be triggering /something/ in his dialogue because I'll still get ninjamanced occasionally.

Leliana still takes the cake on ninjamancing in the end.   One reason I like the icons - I know for a fact the heart means flirty/love/relationship stuff. Some of her dialogue I took as just two good friends talking not, uh, romantic by any means,

 

Anyway, there's one thing I liked about being ninjmanced by him once I fondly remember. I was playing a female Dalish elf who was going to romance Zev because she generally disliked humans, spare a few, with Alistair being one of them. She just saw him as a decent human. I chose the nicer options with him, none of the lovey dovey things. Even the lamppost in winter conversation, she was fairly blunt.

 

But then I accidentally ( ) clicked on him while in Wonders of Thedas. I got an auto conversation (paraphrased) "Hey, I just wanted to tell you thanks for being such a good friend and, I uh, love you. THERE, I SAID IT. *headhang*"

 

I was completely confused at this, but at the some time something clicked in my head that was like "this damn game just wrote itself for me" and she ended up romancing him. It just felt like it fit so well because it was so unexpected.

 

And that is one of my few DA stories and a reason I love them. /longpostislong

Oh, believe me, I am all for surprises with romances.....just not one after the other and every single time your click on them. Reach a checkpoint, or something first, like, idk, have past a certain plot, then let the surprise stem from there. Doesn't have to EXACTLY after you reach it. It could be when you least expect it a little later on....and not in battle....
