I don't think Varric will be repeating himself. 
Besides, Sebastian led the Chant in Kirkwall sometimes, and hence the choir. I don't think Cullen will be doing that, I'm sure Inquisition has real priests, who are less busy with trying to keep our army from murdering and looting on the territory we are supposed to be protecting
Oh how I will laugh if Varric won't be able to come up with a nickname, because Cullen will have an Aveline effect on him But in my opinion Cullen is only scary when he wears the helmet, so maybe it will be the Knight-Captain, because Varric remembers him from Kirkwall like that.

Saaaammmmme! I'm always thinking about this and how they will interact with one another. I mean, yeah they didn't "know each" other but they would have met on the odd occasion and they would have certainly formed opinions about the other.
I hope he puts a bit of creativitiy in these names, rather than stealing them from his old friends. Then again, it could be cool if Varric is actually much less suave and charismatic in reality than he was in his stories.
I didn't know what you meant, so I looked it up...jeeze, I did NOT (consciously) remember that he used "Choir Boy" for Sebastian! I only went through a Sebastian playthrough once, so I guess that's why. Sooo, back to the drawing board I guess. I'm glad this happened. It would have ruined my contribution for the 3000 celebration!

I think it's great. I also had a theory that it wasn't Aveline he was referring to in that book and that Cullen did actually have a relationship (no matter how brief) with someone in the city guard.

I'm not sure if they will be-- and if they are, it'll likely be Cullen pushing it more than Varric. Varric doesn't seem to pick between mages or Templars. It really depends on who is more innocent at the time verse who is being the arsehole. So it seems unlikely Varric would say a word about the mage/Templar debate unless someone tries to drag him into it simply because of his friendships with people who happened to be mages.
If anything, Varric seems mildly pro-templar and slightly more approving if you side with them.

Agree, he likes to take the "middle of the road" stance throughout the whole game and I think he would rather not trouble himself with either side but he does seem to approve more if you side with the templars rather than the mages.

And that's more than likely because the Templar's are more for the city as a whole. The mages are out to save themselves, and rightly so, but the Templars are out to protect Kirkwall (that's the argument they use, anyway.) And we've seen how Varric wants to protect the people getting caught up in the middle of the entire mess, looking at his reaction to not saving the village.
