I often wonder if we would be getting half as much trouble as we do if Cullen had been a pro-mage supporter fighting to free the mages instead.

It'd be the same, since some of the pro-Templas would've criticized him. For example, many pro-templars criticize Evangeline.

I've destroyed the circle every single time I've played the game. I'm always anti-chantry/circle; keep in mind my main Warden is a mage.

That's kind of proving her point.

I think that is definitely an issue and a legit reason to dislike the character. Sadly, some people also equate liking a character they believe is terrible to being a terrible person. The woes I've faced because my favourite character in One Piece is a Marine, and thus against the main-character-pirates... not to mention all the murderers I like in Dangan Ronpa. In fact I like the murders way more than any of the victims bar one.

(And yet, I imagine EVERYONE has that one villain they love.)

So do I. I'm not a Templar supporter in the slightest, I just find Cullen's story arc to be an interesting one. And no, before you say it, it's not because Cullen had a crush on my mage Warden, she had no interest in him.

*Edit* Wait, you mean you've killed all the mages in the circle in DA:O? Sorry, slow on the uptake this morning.

My issue with Cullen is that the fanbase took a small, throwaway part of the game. Then they became obsessed over it and reverse engineered it into something else when there were characters with defined characteristics that were left by the wayside. Also, this reverse enigneering will now affect what will be a huge climax in the Dragon Age series dramatically, with him now being a major character.

Just out of curiosity, will whining about Cullen make him NOT appear in Dragon Age Inquisition? ... Say what? Is that a no? Yeah, that's what I thought. :(

LOLBYE.

And sorry, guys. But aint nobody got time for that. ;)

Wooooo same! Though to be honest, I can rub my hands together for some of Alistair's uncle. Seriously, every time I typed his name my tablet changed it to Reagan so I gave up.

I root for the baddies too-- unless there's a character more my type on the goodie side. Ya'll can have Loki, I'll be over here watching Tony Stark very closely.

I'm terrible at complete bastard runs. I'm better at snarky bastard playthroughs.

Yes, my point is that I actually agree with Cullen and kill the mages. My issue with him has nothing to do with his opinions, infact I find them more than agreeable.

My experience is similar.  I didn't even do a mage playthrough in DAO until after I finished DA2 and had developed an interest in learning more about Cullen.  At that time I did not even know there were others who found the character intriguing.  Imagine that.   :P

I am all about Jason Todd, but he's an anti-hero. Not a villain. So I'm probably cheating with that one.

I didn't know that you could really do that. I somehow assumed that the warden always successfully stops Uldred and that the annulment therefore doesn't happen.

Argh, edited because of typo.

So your issue with him is solely that you think he has a disproportionately large/vocal fanbase? :)

Nope. Just don't use the litany, or fight and kill Wynne right away.
