It's Monday we like to keep it low key until the week really picks up.

If you stop Uldred but let Irving die, all the mages are wiped out.I didn't know that you could really do that. I somehow assumed that the warden is always successfully stops Uldred and that the annulment therefore doesn't happen.
I often wonder if we would be getting half as much trouble as we do if Cullen had been a pro-mage supporter fighting to free the mages instead.
Probably. It seems the majority of the grief doesn't come from Cullen's personal views/actions with Mages, but more that we are bothering to like such a insignificant character that does nothing. Even if we point out the subtle bits that have come from Cullen's arc to show he is more that the dissenters are giving him credit for, we are ignored. The same old chestnuts are thrown on the fire to tell us how wrong we are for liking Cullen.
I am all about Jason Todd, but he's an anti-hero. Not a villain. So I'm probably cheating with that one.
Magneto -- comic Magneto though, not movie Magneto. He is hot for an old guy though I'm pissed at him and Rogue for......reasons -- I don't want to give any spoilers. Am I giving away how much of a geek I actually am?
I'm the same... but Rogue's my favourite Xmen... much prefer comic Rogue though

Yes, my point is that I actually agree with Cullen and kill the mages. My issue with him has nothing to do with his opinions, infact I find them more than agreeable.
So, it's literally because he's a minor character that you have an issue with? It seems that you're more bothered by his fandom than the character himself, is that correct?
See, I understand how it seems kinda odd, but in terms of his inclusion in DAI it make sense that he's at least involved in some way since not only was he around for the whole mage/templar issue that set the ball rolling for events in DAI, but he also knew Hawke (and in some cases, the Warden) both of whom are missing, which could be of some use. As for why he has a major role, maybe they wanted to bring in a few returning characters because the game looks and feels completely different to the previous DA games, a little familiarity can help soften the blow sometimes.
Out of curiosity, who would you have preferred to be the Military advisor? A completely new character or an old companion?

A new character would make the most sense, but personally? Sten.
Love Magneto, but I must admit I have a fondness for that grouchy Wolverine

I'm a geek too! And when it comes to Western comics, there's plenty to rage at. Don't even get me started on how some of the comics have treated a lot of my favourites-- why do I always end up liking the lesser known characters? Writing inconstancies happen less to the major players. ![]()
(Unless you're poor Scott Summers. D8 )

Oh gah, nooo not Wolverine! He has become such an annoying goody-two-shoes wuss. Cyclops is the sh!t now
I'm the same... but Rogue's my favourite Xmen... much prefer comic Rogue though
Sten is Arishok, no?
Yep, dont think having the qunari even more involved with the inquisition would be good ![]()
Personally id like loghain to be my general, more snark and grouchiness all round! ![]()

You know, maybe the Dwarf can tell us who we should be fans of instead?
That little boy from Lothering who I gave the 1 silver to.
Harley Quinn
So, so, so ruined -- beyond repair

We don't talk about that...

That doesn't exist. Like the third X-men movie. (If you're me, anyway.

No, im always a mage. So bethany snuffs it every time. I do like sending carver off to join the templars though, i like to think that cullen needs at least one vaguely sane person to chat to in the gallows
Carver became a templar on my canon playthrough. I actually like how he did it. Maybe it wasn't the best option for him, but at least it was his own choice. I hate to force such life and death decisions on people! And I agree that templars need more normal, sensible recruits. I hope Carver didn't leave with Hawke after Meredith, and stayed to help Cullen. It must have been hard for Cullen to suddenly find himself in charge of that city. He complained in the act 3 that he had enough headache already, and now with not a single authority left in the city, I imagine it all fell on him. And so I hope Carver was there to help (and I hope to see him in DAI!).
I have no doubt BioWare found a very good way of fitting him into the story and perhaps I will like him more after he's a fleshed out character. It's really not so much about Cullen and more about how a rather insignificant NPC garners such a strange following when there were much more deserving, well-thought out characters in DA:O.
I highly, highly doubt Cullen's importance to the story was planned from the start. Honestly, if someone could provide any evidence that this wasn't the case, I may change my opinion.
This reminds me of those strange requests we sometimes get on deviantart, "Why do you draw so much art of character A? You should draw character B, because I think he/she is much better!" People like what they like, you can't do anything about that, but you can spread your love for your favourite character instead ![]()

Bleugh, I watched that the other day, it was proper shite.
