Damn. Thought I woke up late enough to not have to wait long (10 AM here in Sarnia, Ontario). Forgot that Edmonton is different time zone.

Ah well. Back to Mass Effect 2 playthru.

I keep hoping it'll be soon, before I head out. I am... doubtful.

I had the impression templars who serve in the Circles don't travel much from Circle to Circle, so 3 places may be indeed a lot of experience. Besides, before Kinloch Hold he was probably in some monastery, like Alistair. And must have had interactions with people from the villages nearby. And there are also raids, when templars are sent to hunt a maleficar, or to bring an apostate to the Circle. In DA:O he mentioned he didn't like hunting mages. So I guess he participated in such hunts. Or maybe he was just trying to impress a girl (L-look I'm a m-m-mighty wa-wa-warrior! Bu-but not me-mean!)  :P But I think that if Greagoir was indeed training Cullen as a possible replacement, then Cullen must have done everything a templar was supposed to do. Except fighting an abomination (I mean the beginning of DA:O), and killing a failed apprentice, because if he has never been in charge of a Harrowing, and have never seen an abomination, it means that previous Harrowings he saw were successful. Then, of course, Uldred and his friends threw a blood-magical party, and now Cullen definitely is a templar with a lot of experience.  =]

This is something I've been wondering as well. Where else do they go as templars? Where do they train? Do they move around amongst the Chantries? Apparently there is a second Circle Tower in Ferelden, in Jainen. Is there a lot of connection between the two towers?

Maybe they get sent off to other Chantries to do training/work experience when they're still recruits? Kinda like with a real life job when they send you off to do different courses and stuff?

Or perhaps they operate as squires while still in-training? That would give them experience in the field.

Hey, that horse-washing stuff could actually be a little-bit canon.

Heh. I'm playing the Sims 3 a bit to pass the time today, myself. *grin*

I think it would stand to reason that the Templars operate like most organized armed forces: there is most likely general, broad training that starts young and goes on into the late recruit/early initiate phase. Then you are stationed and your training honed/specialized... It would make sense that some are tailored for service at circles, others at chantries, sub groups that specialize in "chases" to borrow a marine corps MP term, where you hunt down apostates/transport them. For the most part the Templars seem to act as chantry protection in general and Mage policing, specifically, with the standing caveat that they be ready as a war force in the event of things like exalted marches....

...er, end random conjecture before finishing my first cup of coffee and interrupted by cooing at the littlest Spawnling who has discovered spit bubbles :D

I could see that. I always imagine some kind of officer training school for those headed for higher ranks. I also go back to the Chantry Hierarchy codex that talks about how some initiates (i.e. vow taking chantry folk) also get martial training if they're headed to the templars. So I picture chantries also training up some young templars.

You mean the Circle from DA: Legends? Must play this game. I forgot what it was about :)

Interesting, I thought there was only one circle in Ferelden. Maybe the second one is new?

All I know about it is from the wiki, since I never played Legends either. So I have no idea!

lol, that's a bit too much. Shouldn't he be ready to get covered in mud and gore,  burn down cities, and sleep on the rocks with that job? Of course, this is how his old trauma may manifest - in a pathological aspiration for order, but I hope he's not that bad, really.

I'm mostly joking, :D I doubt he'll be that bad, after all he takes his duty way too seriously to allow any personal inconvenience disrupt him.Even though I still believe that he might be tidy with a tendency to keep everything organized.Hopefully we'll learn more about his personality and past.

I've read the quest description there, and it kind of looks like it may be the same place :) Because it's supposed to be a port where you can take a boat to Orzammar. And Orzammar is not on a river, but you can get to Gherlen's pass from Lake Calenhad. So the Circle must be on Lake Calenhad, and there can't be 2 circles at the same place, right? But they mention a different First Enchanter, not Irving. Funny. Maybe Legends have an alternative lore? :)

Haha, I can just imagine him setting up camp for the night with the rest of the group (if he's a companion), all covered in blood and mud, then opening his backpack and everything being absolutely pristine and in its place (Cullen jammies, ah!)  :P

The Circle of Magi wiki page says that it's in the Waking Sea Bannorn.

So, according to the game map, apparently not far from Lake Calenhad. That seems... oddly close by.

All the DA panels are up on YouTube, Jerr. Also, R2 could you link him? I'm on my phone at work, so I couldn't do so myself.

Only partially, from what I've seen... unless more of them have been uploaded?
