Also, I am sure this has probably been discussed a ton in this thread, but do you think Cullen often had to takes mages in Kirkwall and the outlying villages to the Circle? I know that he is there when Bethany gets sent to the Circle.

I can imagine him being very king, especially to children that get sent away. I know some templars just take children without letting them say goodbye to their families. I can imagine Cullen letting them say farewell and even letting the child take a favorite stuffed animal or giving them candy like Wynne says the templars did for her in Origins.

I wish I could draw, I'd love to make a fanart of that.

Yeah me too! I just hope I'm not too engrossed in the game at that point...and actually feel quite heartbroken lol. His voice is so deep X_X. We really need that GE video so I can keep on track

I always forget about the GE interview and then someone mentions and I get my "Argh! Hurry up already" thing going on ^_^

While you're doing that, I'll be in my own playthrough where one of my boys romances the pants off of Dorian.  :D

I might, for the first time, create a male character in a Bioware game just to do this. (okay maybe I will romance everyone in this game. Everyone is just so purdy *u*)

For the first time, I'm actually having trouble picking which romance to try first-- and I want to try all of them! In previous games I wasn't really interested in other characters like that to try their romance until after a couple of playthroughs.

Ungh. Decisions.

There's Cullen, of course, but I'm also really, really interested in Dorian and just... everyone...

And what was hinted at about Iron Bull, and how his romance might cause a 'few dents'? Almost tempts me to try him first! Especially if it's tied to his personal story (like the Qun), as I would hate to be spoiled before trying his romance. Anders was my Hawke's pick, and that made what happened even more epic! It would have lost it's effect if I'd seen what happened with Anders first but romanced him in a later playthrough.

I am planning on doing the same thing. I always play a female protagonist if I can choose, but for a later playthrough I think will make a male human mage that romances Dorian.

yeah! In Origins I've only ever been interested in Alistair, and Fenris for my first few playthroughs of origins.....but I'm currently drawing Josephine fan art and I'm actually considering doing my first female romance O_O and Sera is adorable too. Of course, my mage quizzy x Cullen will be first

I think I might be the only one not interested in Iron Bull.....but we will see what happens XD

I actually have never played a game with a warrior before. I wonder if classes will effect romances for every LI? I personally enjoy being the exact opposite of whoever I'm romancing ; )

Sera apparently has a problem with one of the warrior specialisations that isn't Reaver. So definitely some will.

Yes, I think Cullen would try to be as kind as possible, especially to children. I don't think however that he would often go himself. He was the Knight-Captain after all, he probably couldn't leave Kirkwall often, because he had too much to do in the Gallows. Chasing after Wilmod was an exception. Going after Bethany was probably an exception as well, because he owed Hawke, and wanted to keep everything quiet. I think by the law there was supposed to be some kind of a punishment for Hawke's family for hiding an apostate, so Cullen had to go himself to avoid extra drama.

LOL, I just realized I said very king instead of very kind :P   Cullen is such a sweetheart---I love the Act 3 quest how he sends Hawke the letter about Aveline, because he believes she is a good captain and wants her to remain in her position. I like to think that Cullen looked out for Bethany when he took her to the Circle--help her get adjusted.  I can't wait to find out about his background and why he became a templar---was he given to the Chantry like Alistair or did he decide to join when he was older---I am hoping we get those answers in October.

I think Cullen would be... not exactly kind-- well, it depends what you count as kind, I guess. He wouldn't be cruel, but he would definitely be professional and strict about it, much like he was with Bethany.

...Children, he'd probably feel awkward around. He'd keep professional... and gentle for the child's sake, I think, but I imagine he'd feel awkward about the whole ordeal because he believes in what he is doing (at least at that stage in his life), but it still involves a child who might not fully understand what's going on.

I guess what I mean by kind is being gentle. Letting the child say goodbye to their family. Maybe explaining on the way what the Circle is like, explaining how the child would be able to learn to control their magic, etc. Unlike other templars or maybe would just drag the child crying. I think Cullen would be as gentle as possible. Now that I think about it I think even Meredith before the whole Red Lyrium crazy  business might have even been kind to children when taking them to the circle when she was a Knight Captain, since she does believe it's the right thing to do. I kind of see Meredith like Lambert---sympathetic to the mages in her youth and then something happened to betray her trust making her hardened like we see in DA2---add that with a thirst for power and that Idol and we get Act 3. That's why I'm so intrigued for Cullen because I think he is striving for a balance between the 2 and will continue to grow as a character because of it.

Oh, yeah, definitely. :)

And I fully support Meredith being much, much more gentle than people assume. Even siding with the mages, Meredith never came across as HORRIBLE other than when the Red Lyrium started to really affect her.

(Have I said I love Meredith? Because I do!)

I think Meredith would have come down hard on any abuse going on she actually knew about, which is why I fully believe the corrupted Templars kept it under better wraps than assumed. Hawke just needs to know all the things so the player knows all the things.

So... um... I did a thing.

I haven't written anything in about five or six years, but y'all are just so inspring I couldn't contain myself. It's just a short little snippet about Cullen and F!Lavellan. My writing is pretty rusty, but... I hope you don't cringe when you read it enjoy it?

I guess I'll just leave this here...

Yes, I highly doubt that Meredith and Cullen would have let  Ser Alrick and other templars abuse the mages. If Meredith was hard on the mages, I can only imagine her being even harder on her templars--because they are supposed to be the very best and take their duty seriously. Honestly, what might of been a better solution to the Kirkwall problem would be reassigning  Orsino and/or/both  Meredith to other Circles (different other Circles)--but then we wouldn't had much to do at the end of the game :)

You can kind of see a softness to Meredith at times, especially in the Act 3 opening when she says "I know and it pains me" or something to that effect. She also asks Hawke to give her another solutions which of course Hawke can't do.  I think maybe that why Cullen was sent to Kirkwall--perhaps, Meredith also has a bad experience at a Circle similar to Cullen in Origins and thought Meredith could guide him. Unfortunately, I think Meredith got a taste for power and that combined with her experiences and the idol turned out poorly. I wonder if Red Lyrium has an effect on mages at all? Also, Cullen and the other templars and mages must of had good resistance to not be affected by Meredith's sword as I am sure they were often around her. I think Cullen noticed the change in her as you get to Act 3, he starts to have doubts about Meredith compared to Act I?

I'm hoping Cullen talks about how he was sent to Kirkwall with the Inquisitor--could be a good opportunity to learn more about Meredith as well as Cullen.

Dorian has a lower pitch when he's not bantering/gets serious, but it's no lower than male!Hawke's. I suppose it depends on what you call deep?

I was sad that Cullen wasn't a companion. But in DAO, DA2 and ME, I always have my LI with me. I guess now I'll be changing it up more, this is probably a good thing.

I feel the same way!  Once I realized this only gave me better opportunities to get to know the other characters and I was better inclined towards the difference in romance and relationship with Cullen.
