So I did a bit of research, watched some videos and played the very begining of Origins with a female mage. I will say that I still think Cullen's inclusion in Inquisition is fan-service. Not saying neccessarily that it's bad or good, as the game itself will prove that. However, I can say that I sort of have an understanding as to why some people might become attatched to Cullen. I still think it's a bit OCD to become invested in something seemingly random, but I don't really think it's wrong, either per se. Overall, my indifference remains, but I no longer care about other's interest in him.
Here's hoping that Cullen's involvement in DAI is well executed and provides me with a reason to care and for Cullen fans, gives a good resolution to his story.
I think its pretty cool that you took the time to do some research - most don't. In the end everyone is entitled to their opinion

I personally don't think he is fan service. When you have characters like Alistair and Zev showing up for no reason in DA2 - I think that is fan service definitely. With Cullen, I see him as someone that has had experience in the last two big evenst to befall Thedas and his knowledge is something we can take advantage of and put to good use.
I know you must have been feeling pretty ganged up on last night and as I offered, if you ever want to have a polite debate about Cullen I'd be up for it. I have had them before and have even accepted when I have been wrong on some points. I'm not an unreasonable person.

Thanks for dropping back in. Big thing to do after the heated talks last night.
