I reckon chances are he/she will be from one of the other circles out there, otherwise it would be a little weird if Cullen was like "who are you?" Or, in terms of a female mage, is willing to romance someone he once had to guard... not sure my fem mage would wanna date him knowing what went on in the Gallows if he really didn't bother to do anything to prevent it.

I hope Trev is not from somewhere we've been to. I wonder if the mage!Trev was sent to Fereldan Circle? Because she/he has a Fereldan accent? Or do Marchers also have the accent? I'm curious about it, becasue Hawke asks Cullen "You sound Fereldan." So apparently Marchers have a different accent? I'm not a native speaker, it's not very obvious to me.
Everyone in Kirkwall sounded the same as everyone in Ferelden. That being said, they use UK actors from all over the place which is why the accents are never consistent. For example, Cullen's accent has a slight Northern twang because Greg Ellis is from up North, lol. Most of the accents are like mine, which is your bog standard Southern accent.

But this is just inevitable with a game focused on a new protagonist, tho. It happened repeatedly already in DA2 with every cameo (Alistair, Zev, Isabela). And the game always gives you a chance to ask who someone is, even if you already know.
Yeah, but Hawke didn't know those characters (except Leliana, I guess). A noble (or mage) from Kirkwall not knowing who Hawke or Anders were and not knowing exactly what happened there? A noble from Starkhaven not knowing the Vael family? That's far stranger than Hawke not knowing a character he never met (but the player might have.)

I'm American, and it wasn't obvious to me either. Everyone in Kirkwall, Marcher and Fereldan sounded "british" to my uneducated ears. But maybe someone else could tell...?
I didn't notice a different accent really, it could sometimes be reflected in how they talk (meaning the words they use or sentence structure).
I'm Aussie and generally speaking sometimes we can pick where other Aussies are from based on the words they use and how they say it (though still same accent).
I think really it was just an opportunity for a chat ![]()

Yeah, it's just the Surname that throws me off. I mean, I know that some common/normal folk in DA do have Surnames but I just wonder if that'll simply be the case with Cullen, or if he's actually nobility. God dammit, my Inquisitor just wants a piece of rough!

You know, I can't help but think that his last name is just something bog standard. DG's "Oh so that's it" and "Oh I forgot it" might be smoke screens, but also suggest a laissez faire about it. Like... if the last name were Dryden or Mac Tir or Theirin, he'd remember it, you know? Or the backstory would be something the rest of the writers would have been in on, since it affects other characters, and not something the lead writer happened to come upon later and go, "Oh!" Anyhoo, that's obviously reading into it a bit much, and that DG is tricksy, but that's my gut feeling.
So, I'm putting my gold on something we've not heard. Anderson. Baker. Miller. Something middle class.

See now as a Northerner, I couldn't hear that until you pointed it out. I suppose it's just because I'm so used to it. Even if he is from the other North.

Ok, so accents don't really mean anything. But Hawke said Cullen sounded Fereldan enough for her, and David Gaider said Cullen is Fereldan, so I guess it's canon? I wonder if a templar who comes from an orphanage or a low class can pick a surname when he's knighted? Cullen Mac-Something. Cullen From-Somewhere. Cullen A-random-day-of-a-week.

I'd prefer this idea to him popping up as long-lost nobility, whatever. What DG and the other devs said about last name wasn't that only nobles have last names, so I'd love a situation like this. Like Cullen Snow. ![]()

Wouldn't it be funny if the human noble female was supposed to have had an arranged marriage to Sebastian's brother or something, and either he died before it could be done (if rogue/warrior) or it didn't happen because you were a mage.
You mean kind of like with the Cousland and Delilah or Thomas Howe? I LOVED that quest because I have this headcanon where my Cousland was actually really excited/had a childhood crush on Delilah, but then Origins happened and it just didn't matter anymore. Then when he meets Delilah again and she says those things about my Cousland he's all pouty even though he's in love with Morrigan, despises her father and is just not normally someone who's bothered by those kinds of things lol.
It actually makes me pretty giddy to think of it happening again, but with Sebastian's family. Maybe Sebastian even had a minor crush on the Trevelyan during his more...eh rambunctious days?
Sebastian (if Anders lives): Varric!
Varric: Oh ****...
Inquisitor: Who's that guy?
Varric: A choir boy with a grudge and an army.
Sebastian notches an arrow and aims it right between the eyes of the dwarf. The Inquisitor and their party draw their weapons which is quickly followed by Sebastian's men drawing their weapons. Sebastian is unmoving, eyes locked on Varric's as the two share a silent dialogue with one another.
Varric: Been a while Sebastian.
Sebastian: ...
Varric: I don't know where they are.
Sebastian glances from face to face before relaxing the drawstring on his bow, a wave of exhaustion radiates over his face as he waves off his men. The Inquisitor sheathes her daggers and begins to remove her helmet as Sebastian speaks again.
Sebastian: I know, but after Kirkwall....I...what the O.o
The Inquisitor whips her hair in slow motion as diamonds sparkle around her.
Sebastian: Oh Lady Trevelyan, I-I mean your Eminence, I...m-mean Inquisitor
Cullen: Stuttering's my shtick bub

Yes, it kind of looked like BB decided to give Cullen a surname, and then DG saw it in a doc, and tweeted about it, because fans were asking. But I guess it's not a very important name.
I think WoT says that in Ferelden there is no big difference between a nobleman and a peasant. There are even families like Drydens, who lost all their power, but kept the name. Orlesian occupation could have created many such stories: they were banns, then chevaliers came, kicked them out, and they had to become merchants or artisans to survive, but the name remained.

It's only a slight twang on certain words like "one" and stuff like that, lol. He's toned it down to sound more Southern, whereas when he played as DAA Anders it was stronger and more evident.

Aw, man, Danny, I LOVE this. I've been thinking about how Sebastian will meet up with folks from DA2, too, with similar results. Personally I'd love if Cullen's surname was already mentioned/known in DA universe but it wouldn't hold big significance (like he wouldn't be bastard prince, Meredith son or anything like that). It'd be just nice to be able to locate him somewhere and it always when things in the games go together ![]()

I've been really interested in Sebastian's whereabouts after DA2 since I was REALLY REALLY bummed about how things turned out. Almost every fanfic I've been thinking about has involved him in some capacity so I hope he gets at the very least some closure (if you let Anders live that is).

Sebastian: Mother Andraste full of grace, forgive me for my transgressions...my many...many...various and sometimes incredibly odd transgressions.
Sebastian has flash backs to wild parties with L!Trevelyan in Wycome. As he prays Hawke strides out with an overstuffed journal and a sour expression on her face.
Hawke: Sebastian...
Sebastian: Yes *eyes the journal and chokes a little* my l-love...
Hawke: What did you mean by, "What happens in Wycome stays in Wycome?" and who the hell is Cinnabuns?
Sebastian: meep
