*snort* The Schadenfreude is strong with this one!
They'd still get the character!
He'd just use two swords instead of one big one!

I imagine it's not that different from a female elf, except as a woman he probably doesn't tell you he prefers women or imply that he "turned" bi on account of being a Crow
Bah! No playthru. Ended up farting around on phone instead. And eating California Cuties... little candy like oranges. So good!
Now that I've said that completely irrelevant OT thing..
Hopefully we are getting a reveal today. I want what most of you seem to want. Wouldn't mind more details about Solas, either.
I want to point out that it's not sure that the FF happens today. Bioware haven't clarified that it happens the third Friday of the month, just 'near the end' of the month; it's possible that it'll be shown next week.
This is very true. I think why I'm assuming it's happening today is that there no other Fridays in April after the next one, but I could be totally off-base.
Indeed, if they'll show the character next Friday (April 25) they'll show Some info on May.This is very true. I think why I'm assuming it's happening today is that there no other Fridays in April after the next one, but I could be totally off-base.

Right, now I'm thinking it's going to be next week, what with today being a holiday and all.
No, it's the same.
Well good to see they spread the suckiness around then! lol

Which to me,sounds like a far more appealing idea for some reason...

Well it's better than Anders never mentioning Karl in THAT WAY to a female Hawke.
I didn't like how they handled Ander's bisexuality either, and I definitely see no reason why he wouldn't mention Karl to a femHawke.

On an unrelated note, I know what this means because Gaider used it once many months back and I looked it up. Since then Misha Collins has used it and now it's popping up here and I'm like

Very true. But with Zevran I hated the whole "I have to explain my bi-ness" as if being bi isn't a natural thing, that it can sort of be beat into you by forcing you to repeatedly have sex with the same sex. Grrrr. That coupled with him assuring the Warden he prefers women, like, assuring the player that he's TOTALLY into chicks so no worries, he's not some sassy gay guy, he's a total bro! Double grrr.
But not to be too hard on the writers; that was in 2009, and DA:O was totally breaking new ground there! As was DA2. I can only think DA:I will handle sexuality with even more deftness and sensitivity.
I didn't get the vibe that he though being gay/bisexual isn't natural. He just didn't know how Fereldans view them.Very true. On the women thing, I don't recall how it was phrased so I can't comment on it.
Who knows, maybe I'm mis-remembering it! I only played through the romance twice fully, and that was a loooong time ago.

Well I kind of get what they were going for. For me, when I'm not in a relationship, I sort of fluctuate between preferring men and preferring women. I've spoken to my bisexual friends and they either say the same thing or say they have a definite preference. And while it is something I would have wanted to be handled better, particularly to a male Warden, (female Warden it just seemed better for to me), it did seem natural to me, because I've felt like I had to say something similar in the past. But while it is kind of awkward to get out, I do find when I am in a relationship, I don't fluctuate. Hell, I don't even see other people in that way.
Sure, I know people fluctuate. I just didn't feel that that's what they were going for with that particular conversation. It felt like trying to "explain" being bi to a player who saw that as odd. There was really no reason why Zevran had to explain that to my Warden who wouldn't have questioned his sexuality, whether he likes boys, girls, or both. Presumably, if he liked my Warden, that was all that mattered!
But like I said, I think there was a learning curve with Zevran, and they were doing their best. I haven't romanced Leliana, so I've no idea what that's like. Now when Isabela came along, I thought that was a great romance, and she never explained to my Hawke why she liked girls. They just liked each other, and it happened
Amen! I have the utmost faith in these devs. And for God's sake, we have a gay man as Lead Writer for the franchise. What better representation could you ask for? Bless these amazing developers. But not to be too hard on the writers; that was in 2009, and DA:O was totally breaking new ground there! As was DA2. I thought it was odd that a gay romance would engender that response from Anders versus a hetero one. The context he mentions Karl in isn't orientation specific. He could have mentioned it to a femHawke just as well. ![]()

I didn't mind that Zevran makes his orientation clear... but what left me feeling icky about romancing him as a male Warden was why he is bi. Saying he had an appreciation for the company of males is one thing. Saying he learned to enjoy it as part of the role he'd been sold (i.e. forced) into, left an unpleasant feeling in my stomach.
I would think he'd want to get away from the things that traumatized him and, call me crazy, but being forced to serve men - or anyone, really - in a sexual capacity seems like it would be traumatic. I wouldn't want to be a part of continuing someone's abuse. So I romanced him as a guy only once. The rest were female Wardens.
Leliana has an additional dialogue if the Warden is female, where you can advance the romance based on your choices, but it didn't mention her sexuality. It started with Leliana saying she liked the Warden's hair, and that she's glad they're friends, and then you ma make some choices. But like I said, I think there was a learning curve with Zevran, and they were doing their best. Oh, maybe I didn't make myself clear, but this is exactly what I was talking about ![]()
Well, I just feel it made it seem real to me. It's an awkward conversation, but it's better than finding out later, like what happened to my friend, (made for a hilarious story). And I want them to educate people about bisexuality, you don't see many other people doing it. Just spreading biphobia *glaresatGlee*
I don't have a problem with a character saying s/he is bisexual and talking about being bisexual. Damn I'm clearly not explaining myself well AT ALL. See what Samara said ![]()
