We'll be waiting :P

I can now imagine in DAO & DA2 Cullen wearing a templar onesie to bed every night...

Purple and yellow tailored onesies, which are standard issue for Templars. They also have pillow fights before lights out. Oh Alistair I miss you...

Something that I just noticed--his top and pants look to be exactly the same colour. It makes it look like he is wearing a one-piece

lol, you see it too! We talked about it after E3, and I made a doodle:

Ok, the Red Templars, this kind of makes me feel bad for them :(

LI: Okay. But as far as - I know the Red Templars were considered an enemy creature.

DG: Mhm.

LI: But will we be able to talk to them? Or is it truly - they see you, they attack you. And that's a done deal.

DG: Uh, for the red templars...it depends how far their, their um - how far the red lyrium has affected them. It gets to a certain point and they are essentially automatons. But that doesn't mean all red templars are like that. There is...some interaction. They're not just a mindless faction. There is some reason to it and you will encounter that.

Hmm does that mean that they are like new darkspawn? As somehow intelligent but mostly hostile and monsterous.

:/ That is sad.

What is red lyrium? I mean, I know we don't have a straight answer and we won't find out til Inquisition, but what do you guys think it is? I actually just had a thought right now that maybe it occurs in places where the Veil is extremely thin? I mean, there was tons of it at Recliffe Castle where the breach was particularly large in the E3 demo. So what do you guys think?

When I watched the demo and saw some of the stills on the website, I wondered where all this red lyrium came from? and how it became so wide spread.... I wondered if word got out of Meredith's power from red lyrium and some templars actively sought it but how come it's out and about now and not underground. I mean Varric and his bro didn't even know what it was, right?

I'm not sure if we fully even know what lyrium is? It seems to be just poisonous mineral that somehow returns mana to mages and lets non-mage to use some magic talents. It's found in deep roads and it "sings". It's also highly addictive like drugs and there is nasty withdrawal symptoms but also you get permanently sick for using it too long.. I think it damages brain and nervous system. That's pretty much how much we know?

To me it seems like red lyrium is just more potent lyrium. It's more powerful but symptoms of using it are also more severe: it makes you insane and aggressive. No idea otherwise ^^

I think the Grey Wardens might have something to do with the spread, and anyone else visiting the primeval thaig in search of a get-rich-quick scheme. Varric and his brother were surface dwarves, so it's possible Orzammar etc might have had knowledge and known to leave it well alone.

No, I think the darkspawn are more primitive, but more... constant? Red Templars actually look like those guys from Guild Wars2, who the great dragon Jormag enslaved and turned into his minions - the icebrood. They are losing their free will, and eventually they even lose their human form, and look like, well, DAI Behemoths, lol :)

At least when I fist saw a behenoth, I thought of the icebrood.

I think it may be something the Big Bad created? Or found and used to turn people against each other, and breach the Veil?

I think so, yes. And in the E3 demo Dorian seemed super fascinated by it. Regular lyrium can kill mages, right? And red lyrium drives people crazy and eventually turns them into automatons so... how would red lyrium affect mages? I mean, it was all over the castle. Did they hear about Meredith and cultivate it? If so, how?

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the Fade. I just went into the wiki and found this on Batrand's page:

Three years later, in Act 3, it is discovered that Bartrand had chipped a piece of the idol off and left it in the house, which causes the house to behave as if it was haunted, as if the Veil was torn. When Varric picks up the piece of the idol, he starts to exhibit the same symptoms of madness Bartrand showed, at which point you can either let Varric keep the piece, or you can take it from him with the intent of having Sandal destroy it.

And from the lyrium page:

It is also known to thin the Veil, allowing Spirits and apparitions to interact with the physical world.

Hmm. Maybe this is a part of the reason why we have to stop the Red Templars? I mean, y'know, besides the crazy killing automaton part. They're spreading red lyrium and thinning the veil, making the Fade breaches worse? Or maybe this is just what's happening in general? Or the red lyrium appearing everywhere is a result of the Fade breaches, but is also in turn making the breaches worse?

Maybe red lyrium was used to create the original explosion/breach in the first place? And after that effected Thedas in a way that it has spread? or maybe been pushed up from above...??

I hope all of these questions will be answered.

I'm still dying to know exactly how darkspawn came about. Is it like the chantry says? or is there more to it or completely different?

I REALLY want to know this

We know there are red and blue lyrium, I wonder if we will discover more colors.   -_-
It reminds me of kryptonite, different colors and effects.

DG: ...We haven't discussed what red lyrium is in order to go into detail on that. Um, ultimately I would say red lyrium is - I get a different type of red lyrium. It's like the difference between green kryptonite and red kryptonite.
