I'm 33 and my oldest is 13. She has tried her hand at DA2 and she loves the story but has no patience for the gameplay. Not too long ago she rather bashfully told me that she's into yaoi stories - no sex, just the romantic stuff - that her anime series she likes has exposed her to. She's like "I kind of... like stories that pair so-and-so together even if that's not how it was in the show". She seemed to expect me to be... I dunno. She was surprised when I told her I understood and that it wasn't so different from my Dean/Cas shipping or other homosexual ships I have and that I read it and write such myself. After that she was all chatty about her ships and it was sooo adorable! The next day she brought me a cut-out of Cortana from a Game Informer magazine and she'd written on it: "I'm so glad you're my mom. If I had a different mom, I would kill her and go find you."
There are times I can't believe I have a teenager. I remember playing Thief with her napping on my torso and passing my all-night vigils over my sick son with Dragon Age Origins to keep me company. I've always played video games, and when I became a parent, I simply melded the two together. Now I play video games with my kids and we have a blast! I think parents who game will become the norm as generations pass. Of course, the drawback to this is my daughter likes to tease me for having Cullen as my phone's wallpaper.
I think I like your daughter ![]()
You two remind me also of my and my own Mom. We play different games together, becuase she doesn't share my enthusiasm with Bioware RPGs, but I love trying to help her figure the next level she's stuck in, or just watching her play over her shoulder. And while most of other moms I know are like: "Video games are too brutal, spoil character and generaly waste time", my Moms knows it helps to learn and train your brain, like crosswords, for example. And for records, I'm 23, Mom's almost fifty, so I think that neither having kids nor age is a problem with playing video games ![]()

I love all the Inquisitors and ideas people have posted!
And I think I've posted my male human rogue idea enough-- even if he keeps changing a little bit/developing personality wise on me.
I really need to get to qork on other Quizzy ideas, but he's stuck in my head most for some reason.
Of my Wardens, these stuck with me the most. One Cousland was a reluctant hero who resented Duncan and Alistair for taking her away from her revenge. Even though she gets to kill Howe later, she wanted to return home to help Highever and couldn't. So she made herself queen to ensure she could do that. (yes she used Al - not sorry)
Another Cousland embraced the Wardens because she always wanted to be an adventurer and she romanced Al and they went off to do Warden things. I think it was my first ever DAO playthrough and Alistair ninja-manced her! Lol!
My Dalish Warden was another reluctant hero but accepted her fate because she would have died otherwise. She romanced Zevran.
After that, they kind of blur together. I've played all the origins at least once. I know I romanced everyone at least once as well.
I remember my elvhen Mage was hung up on Jowan and hurt that he'd lied to her, disappointed he was a blood Mage and essentially had a lot of baggage but was BFFs with Morrigan and romanced Zev. She did find Cullen's stammering endearing though and was sad for him at the end of the game.
My Hawkes were all kind of boring, goody-two-shoes who just wanted to knock some sense into people. Though Danika Hawke was a fearsome warrior who could shrug off the Arishok's attacks and was such a tart mouth, even Varric wasn't really a friend. I played a lot of variations of paragon warriors and rogues, I couldn't really name them. Mage Kozanna was an insurgent like Anders. Oddly my head cannon Hawke is one I never played.
I probably won't have a concrete idea of my Inquisitors until I play DA:I.

You two remind me also of my and my own Mom.
My Silly Goose is a character, that's for sure! We had an epic convo not long ago that went like this:
Me: "Hey since you're in the kitchen can you bring my water to me? I forgot it it in there."
Goose: "No."
Me: "Bring my water, child!"
Goose: "No, birth giver."
Me: "What I have giveth I can taketh away!"
Goose: "I came into this world, kicking and screaming and covered in someone else's blood - I'm not afraid to go out the same way!"
This is us in a nutshell.
Sounds like you and your mom are awesome too!

Soooo, um... has anyone else noticed that James Norton (Cole's VO) kinda looks like Cullen's new DAI model? I mean seriously, just sweep his hair back, dye his whole head of hair blonde and given him amber contact lenses and he could pull it off... hell, even his nose, the furrowed brow, his stubble and jawline are similar! This pleases me.

So far I have 4 inquisitors planned, and I've written over 3 pages for each in word.(they're adorable!Except my qunari she's one tough dob)
My first playthrough is going to be a self insert, because I don't want to mess up my Dalish mage, that will probably be my canon
I'll probably choose the closest thing to a bookish historian/librarian.
My second will be Laurelin my Dalish mage she's quiet and mysterious.Surprisingly open minded and has a wild streak. Most people in her clan believe she's cursed.
My third will be Aidan,a spoiled passionate nobleman, who is secretly a hopeless romantic and loves to paint.
Fourth is Jarnsaxa, female qunari rogue with a will of iron and incredible leadership skills.Loves power, but is reasonable and just.
Fifth is Harald,my dwarf warrior and he is based on Thorin Oakenshield, nuff said.

LOL Yeah, I played the entirety of DA:O during baby's naps... categorically defying the age old wisdom of "sleep when he sleeps."Ha ha =)
Currently most of my gaming is done after my baby's midnight meal. Maybe 30 min or so while everyone else is asleep.

So ummm...
You're not alone. A lot of people seem like they want to know everything they possibly can before they even start the game, so their playthrough is the "right" one. It's not something I'll personally ever understand, as it seems to me like people want to play the game before they play it, but it's a desire the team is well aware of and I really doubt you won't eventually learn who all the romanceable characters are and who they will/wont romance prior to release.

The only concern I have with the companions in general (since the advisors sound like they'll be there from the start) is that I might accidentally miss the time window to recruit them all.

Indeed. I'm tempted to at least check the Wiki for the mission name for when we recruit them, just so I don't miss anyone.

Me too, but such is the beauty of getting the game three days after the States. Helpful spoilers.
Although, from the sounds of it, Sera, Vivienne and (maybe) IB will come to the Inquisitor of their own accord, so that's my team relatively safe.

Supposedly the quests that contain companion pick ups won't be so obscure this time, so I guess I'll just keep my eyes peeled on the war room table and look for signs that it's a companion recruitment quest. Fortunately this time I have prior knowledge of the game so I'll know who I'm supposed to be looking for. With DA:O and DA2 I went in blind and missed Leliana and Isabela during my first playthroughs.

Heh heh, ill be using a vpn and will be joining the americans for release day fun, rather than waiting for the uk date. I am terrible for meta gaming when i get a chance though, im really bad at finding my own way through games (i managed to miss recruiting isabela totally in my first da2 playthrough), but ive promised myself this one ill be going in raw and unprepared, so im fully expecting to bawl like a baby when i mess up ![]()

I don't know, I love the uncertainty of a new game. I went through Origins without Leliana or Sten first run cause I never went in the inn or even noticed Sten...actually I think I even killed Zevran while he was unconscious too, it made for a very sparse camp that first game lol.My first runs are usually blinkered to the immediate storyline and I miss sideline stuff, that's how I missed Cullen
And Alistair dumped my elf mage so the next 3 runs were human noble, gosh I am so shallow lol
Come the second way through and I began noticing thing I missed out on and it was like playing for the first time again.
So the less I know about those things the better for me, I like to find them on my own.

See, I like the not knowing in terms of storyline and plot, but I do like to know who the companions are so that I know where to find them. I have a horrible habit of rushing through games to get to the next bit of the story, so in DA:O and DA2 I missed out a lot. This time I wanna do it properly and take my time, so I'm trying to get myself familiar with everything, without finding out story spoilers and stuff.

Yeah that's how I miss things cause I always rush through, I want to take my time with this one too but I don't mind missing a few companions straight away as long as I can still play without them lol.
