Post cesarian sucks. I hated it. For weeks I couldn't do simple movements because those muscles would buuuurnnn! It's amazing how much they do and it's impossible to avoid yanking on them. And the sleeeeepieeees! I recall it well. I hope you're feeling better now, Vamp. Your new bundle of joy is so presh!

Oh that sounds familiar... I get a similar tingle when I hear someone say that Blackwall reminds them of their father  And maybe he does but I just do not want to associate that hunk of man meat with my own paternal unit.

There are different social classes within Tevinter society:

 

The strata of Tevinter society encompasses three unique levels. All common citizens of the Imperium who are non-mages are considered part of the Soporati social class. This is a mainly human class which is allowed to own property and serve in Tevinter's military but they have no real power in the nation's governance and are unable to attain a higher rank in the Imperial Chantry than mother or father. Often they are found to be merchants. However, when a Soporati family produces a mage child--this is greatly desired in Tevinter, unlike within the rest of Thedas--it allows them entrance into the Laetans class and thus a higher social standing. In general, the Soporati and ruling mage classes exist in a state of tension due to the inequality of their standing in the nation.

 

The next highest social level is that of Laetans, who are mages born into families that had up to that point shown no magical ability or who have been mages for generations but have no link to the higher Altus or Dreamer class. One third of the Archons throughout history have been Laetans.

 

Altus mages are the highest level in Tevinter society. They are reckoned to be descendents of the Ancient Neromenian Dreamers who possessed the ability to speak to the Old Gods in the Fade. The descendents of these powerful mages are still held in esteem and often are the most high-ranking mages in the Imperium; indeed the majority of magisters are Altus.

 

Magisters can be anyone with magical talent that are nominated or inherit a seat in the Magisterium. It's just that Altus mages are usually the strongest of the mages and with the most political connections, hence more Altus mages become Magisters.

I wonder if a non-magic user is born to parents of the Altus class if that person is still considered Altus...

It's a very cutthroat society (which I love). The Imperium has always fascinated me.

However, from what I understand, you would still be an Altus, even without magical abilities. That being said, these guys inbreed like crazy, trying to keep a "pure" bloodline more or less. Having a magic-less child would be a great source of shame to an Altus family.

 

Dorian's an Altus, which means his parents are probably both magisters. He'd most likely inherit a seat from one of them once they had passed away. Or, perhaps, Dorian would have inherited his seat from Alexius before becoming a pariah.

There are probably quite a few Magisters. Based on Dorian being from an Altus family, I was thinking that it would make an interesting story to have him prepared to take the seat in the Senate from one of his parents, only to throw it all away and be labelled as a "pariah".

Mix some salt into a glass of water and gargle. Helps. Also there's tea for sore throat that works miracles. Make sure it has slippery elm and marshmallow root in it.

   Uh... In all my life I was never able to go through with that. Tried it once... and never again  .

 

Warm milk with honey helps too and is less... salty. You could also trie to gargle with salvia tea.

Yeah, the salt water isn't very pleasurable, but its pretty damn effective. Tea is pretty easy course of action.

I hate this as well but I  make myself do it. Also when I start feeling a little sick with a cold/flu (the very early signs) I take echinacea & zinc vitamins and usually I don't get a massive head cold or sore throat. I cannot handle sore throats, I really get childish with them and this usually helps me avoid getting or if I didn't start in time it helps reduce the amount of time I have one.
