I'm happy the post-apocalyptic-looking IP at E3 is apparently a go  ^_^ Sorry if I've offended in any way!

I really want to reiterate that I love BioWare and am just happy the post-apocalyptic IP is possibly still in the works. Maybe I'm paranoid but I feel like I'm getting a lot of hate in the thread lately and I honestly have no idea why!  If I ever say something that upsets or offend you, please let me know, and I'm sure I'll explain I didn't mean it that way. I've never wanted to hurt anyone here! Really! (✿´‿`)

So sayeth the goddess Hepler:

Sounds like the new Bioware trailer is out of Austin. Very interesting... @hallhood

Tagged there is Hall Hood, aka my dream future boss.

Quick question now that you mentioned it.
Do we only have to send an audio file only?Or photos and video of our area,as well?

Just an audio file! We were going to do the vids/pictures but there wasn't enough interest in that part. So I'm brainstorming up what we're going to do visually.

I really want to reiterate that I love BioWare and am just happy the post-apocalyptic IP is possibly still in the works. You might just be thinking too hard or reading too far into their replies. Nothing looks hateful to me, at least.  :)

Because speculating is fun and we're scarce on new info at the mo:

I do wonder if it's post-apocalyptic based-- at least as I know post-apocalyptic. I mean the only shots we were shown of it, seemed to be of rather peaceful looking environments-- they certainly didn't look completely jacked up, at least. What did look sort of post-apocalyptic, I suppose, was that one makeshift trailer looking building.

Hmm, hmm....

I do love everything Bioware has done, so I'm not at all worried... but I am rather thankful it doesn't look like everything has gone to complete hell like in Fallout... um, if it is post-apocalyptic.

Thinking too hard, probably! I am paranoid though because I know people have actually been talking about me, so... it was just a moment where I thought even Lola now hated me, and I was crushed :( Then paranoia really set in when everyone liked her post, and I thought, wow they all hate me to? What on earth did I do to offend so many people?? lol

Yeah, although it says it's one of 3 characters that first guy played, so it could be the case that our male VO will voice 4 instead. Who knows.

Maybe you confused the characters with the winners? There were three winners in the German contest, two of them are male and one is female. I haven't read anywhere that they will be voicing more than one character. But I don't follow the Facebook site so frequently, so maybe I missed the juicy details.

Here

EA are sending out emails linking to that trailer.

More supernatural thriller than horror i'd say. Either way, i'm intrigued by what i'm seeing so far.

It reminds of Inception. I agree with your speculation that it's a supernatural thriller. It looks definitely like a very interesting concept and I am looking forward to hearing more about it.

...

In the short term, however, it's bad news for DAI at Gamescom!! Was it Aidan Scanlon (sure I spelled his name wrong, poor fella) who said to get ready for something big at Gamescom? I thought it was DAI related, but it might be this.

Why should it be bad news for the DAI team? A new IP does not rule out DAI, IMHO. It's not uncommon that a publisher or a developer presents more than one game or concept. I don't think that a new concept would steal Dragon Age's thunder, if that's what you are worried about.

I think that's why it intrigued me. Post-apocalyptic can be relatively peaceful... if the author doesn't take it to a "humans are inherently evil" place. Maybe few people are left and they've simply decided to built a new civilization or just keep alive as best they can. Maybe they've migrated to a new planet... maybe they're not even human... right, I like sci-fi way too much lol

No I didn't mean that lol I mean a dev tweeted that we would hear something big at Gamescom. We were thinking it was DAI related, but now it might not be. That's all I meant.

Love the sci-fi genre, but hate most sci-fi games because they're all the same. Mass Effect completely blew me away, considering what I was expecting from it because of how sci-fi games have turned out before.

I do hope the new IP isn't too sci-fi, though, if it takes that route. I mean a new IP is the perfect opportunity to explore an entirely new genre, while Dragon Age and Mass Effect take care of fantasy/space sci-fi~

I know what you mean. I love sci-fi, but some probably want to see them try something new.

Reminds me of the new HBO series The Leftovers. 2% of the world's population inexplicably disappears in the blink of an eye. The series begins three years after this happens... it's not so much about the bizarre event itself but more about how people have coped with it.

This could be more about "how do we survive" and "where do we go from here" than "what happened?" More psychological than scientific.

Oh, dear, I had no idea that you felt that way. I think it's good that you bring it up. Personally, I never sensed anything of that sort. Especially not since this is the most polite thread that probably ever existed on the BSN. LOL. Argh, low battery on my netbook. Therefore, the quick answer: If you have the impression, that I ever responded badly to you, let me know. I have sometimes trouble to word my posts well and can't always express myself the way I want to. My last proper English lesson lies so many years behind me now.

I'm on my way out, but no worries, and yeah I feel glad I brought it up because at least my paranoid feelings can be put to rest :) Great now I have 8 minutes to drive across town for a lunch date...

Saw "You've Been Chosen" in my inbox from Bioware and got excited before I opened it. Cool but weird and all, I guess.

Also had something from Bungie telling me to play Destiny tomorrow to receive a permanent in-game award at least bungie loves me, bioware.

I had to translate the page, so I don't think it translated entirely correctly. But it said that the first guy (Alex something or other) was voicing one of three characters (obviously that's wrong, one character for each winner, as you just pointed out). But anyway, what I was wondering was if our British winners will be voicing the same characters? And if there are 3 being voiced by the German winners then does that mean that our male Winner Steven Kelly will be voicing the two males characters, instead of just one?

I think BWA did everything SWTOR? Good and the bad? I feel terrible for them that fans react so violently towards them (not saying you) because of that, because there's probably a somewhat acceptable dev explanation for why they had to make a whole 'nother planet.

I also don't think people have been talking about you - but I've said my piece on that maybe twenty-five billion times, so I don't think it's doing any good. People discuss things they don't agree with, like the aforementioned comment made by Lola. I think it's important that everyone realizes that it's perfectly normal (and human) for people to disagree with one another, and even more normal for people to discuss their feelings/opinions. There's a difference between "Gosh, I don't like what Artemis said, so let me give my contrary opinion" (which isn't talking bad about a person) and "Gosh, that Artemis smells like granny sweaters and I wish she'd stop eating garlic" (which is talking bad).

What I like about this thread is that for the most part, we can disagree without anyone getting offended. A difference in opinion is NOT equal to dislike or hate. It's cool to have contrary opinions. I know I've got a ton (Red Lyrium Cullen!) that drive people nuts, but it doesn't mean anyone hates me. You not liking BWA or the possible genre of this game doesn't mean anyone hates you.

Have fun on your lunch date!

LAST CALL

Well, pretty much. I just found out that some of y'all are completely unaware of the Chant of Light Project we've been working on! Our goal is to make a video featuring us reading the CoL all around the world. Everyone who wants to participate just picks out one of the available verses, records it (with as little ambient noise as possible), provides name (alias or otherwise) and location, and then bam. You're part of history.

I know a few of you were wanting to see what verses were left after the masses flocked in. If you're one of those, please get in touch with me if you're still interested.

For the rest of you - if you're interested, or just want more info, shoot me a PM! We just need 14 more people to have each verse read uniquely.

Sounds fun, I guess I could take part on this. Although I have very heavy accent.. and my mic isn't that good, records are quite clear but quiet, but maybe sound can be raised by some program. Ugh, I mean yea if I am with my flaws enough I want to take part on it :3

Coding mostly. Also expenses.

It would have been really difficult adding a new companion to the game from scratch-- Shale, at least, had coding within DA:O already. And I can't really speak for Sebastian, but considering how he was lacking in some ways, I would say he had less input in the game as a whole.

It would've been almost impossible to add a new companion to a game like SW:TOR and have them react to everything that can happen and react to the other companions and the like. Giving them their own story, quests and area just cut down on everything that was needed. (Thus, 'gay planet' )

It wasn't the team being arseholes, it was them taking the only option they could.

The real question is, why didn't they allow homosexual relationships from the get go? No idea on that one, but it might have something to do with Lucas Arts for all we know.

So, from y'all's speculation if the new IP, it sounds a bit....Secret World. Which would make me sad, because I LOVE the Secret World.
