He admitted it in DA2 though, that facial expression, the wistful look and fond memory of her. It was all there and I think he made peace with it.

Plus, this. He already mentioned her in the second game, ten years later in game 3 is a bit much for a small crush.

To be completely honest, I'd find anyone obsessing over a crush he didn't truly know ten years down the track creepy as all hell:lol:

For me it's just more sad/lame than creepy lol I couldn't respect that person.

Well, Cullen's writer says herself that: "I'm sure his introduction in Origins won him some fans-- especially among certain female mages. But I don't think that's everyone's reason or the only one" she knows he's more than just a crush on Amell/Surana... in the grand scheme of things he's done and experienced so much more than go puppy eyed over a girl (hero of Ferelden or not), there are better things to write about, in my opinion.

No offense to any Amell/SuranaXCullen shippers.

My Inquisitor would be more concerned about if he had some sort of closet shrine with the Amell/Surana alter in there. She'd seriously be turned off of the prospect of romancing him simply because she'd be concerned for her own future safety (I mean, come on, what happens if she breaks up with him, would he start stalking her for decades afterwords?)

Something about obsessing over someone you didn't truly talk to and crushed on so many years down the track just kind of gives me the creeps. I mean... if they're obsessing that much over a crush they didn't know, what kind of person would they be IN a relationship?

Mmmph! Just makes me uncomfortable.

I mean the only reason I remember my first 'crush' was because the little piece of sh!t brutally killed a field mouse I'd found and showed him. Wished ill will on him ever since.

Having had a dude hung up on me for a similar amount of time (and he was a friend I once stupidly slept with, so he at least had some small reason) and had a stalker (different person) for 5 years, I can tell you that it is creepy as hell even under that situation, so to hear Cullen still going on about Amell/Surana in DAI would definitely be a trigger for me personally. My Inquisitor will be out of there like a shot, and would give my Warden the heads up, LOL! Alistair can deal with him!

If Amell/Surana is mentioned at all, I hope it's just a "I knew the Warden" type thing if the Warden ever comes up instead of the crush. I think it's fine to mention knowing them, but I really hope he still isn't hung up on her because they (from what we saw) barely talked to each other. : P

I'll be rolling my eyes and picking a different LI if he mentions an old crush to the Inquisitor. Not only does the Inquisitor not know them beyond 'saved Ferelden from blight', but I doubt they'd care. It wouldn't be any sense of 'jealousy' that put me off, either. Instead I'd just find it kind of cringe worthy from a character development stand point-- he had barely even talked to the Mage Warden before!

Wow, that's extreme. LOL. I think if the Inquisitor cares or not is entirely up to you, the player, and how you see that character.

Personally, I think there is nothing wrong with mentioning someone you once had feelings for, especially when you are in a romantic relationship. I even think it's normal. I mean, imagine you are dating someone and you fall in love. Who wouldn't talk about past relationships? The topic will come up eventually. Now, Cullen wasn't in a romantic relationship with the fem!Warden but she was important to him. Doesn't matter to me if ten years have past. My Inquisitor doesn't know anything about Cullen's life. Why shouldn't he mention the Warden? I admid though that this might only be relevant if you trigger the romance.

Oh, I don't mind a 'I knew the Warden. She was a strong woman, exactly what you'd expect of someone who did what she did.' But more than that would have me personally noping out while my Inquisitor moonwalked her arse out of there.

Well, that's it exactly, canonically speaking, Cullen didn't have a relationship with her; she was just a girl he had a crush on. I can't even remember any crushes from 10 years ago. Now if someone I liked at the time ended up saving the whole country, I'd probably still remember him lol But I'd be more likely to say, "I knew that guy" than "For a few months there I lay awake thinking inappropriate things about that guy" LOL

Exactly, I remember about a year after we broke up, my ex tried to get me back and even went so far as to tell me, right after I told the a-hole off, that 'he wasn't going to give up on me' Granted we were in a relationship before that, much farther than Cullen even got with FMage, but it still creeped me the hell out and I was paranoid because he somehow got ahold of my new number and lived in my town. I even blocked him on social media so idk how he got ahold of me. So this type of relationship going on this long would seriously put a dent in his character for me.

The most I could bare, would be if the Inquisitor had the option to ask about either the rumour/his love life (or lack there of) and his response was something like:

Cullen: *chuckles* "I thought I was in love once, with a girl from the Ferelden circle/the hero of Ferelden, infact. But it was just a silly crush. The naivety of youth. Beyond that, I had one or two brief relationships that never amounted to much/I never really had the time to pursue romance, life has been pretty full on these past 10 years..."

Well, I would personally find it weird and creepy if he started talking about "Oh, there was this one girl I hardly ever spoke to and mostly watched from afar-- man she was the love of my life back then!"

It would be completely different it if was "The hero of Ferelden? *chuckles* That brings back memories. I had the biggest crush on her like you wouldn't believe back before the whole mess with the Grey Wardens and Blight and Uldred. Kind of silly now that I think about it."

Mentioning that he knew her and once had a thing for her is fine, but if he's still holding feelings for her or talking about her in an obviously wistful "I still like her" kinda way then I'd be like NOPE!

Both of these are great; they should hire you guys! :D

EDIT: I actually heard "The naivety of youth" in Cullen's voice :D

Exactly, I've had a few exs like that. One in particular I had to hide from and disappear socially for 3 years just to get him to leave me alone, that sort of sh!t doesn't sit well with me.

I'd really like to see him activate his powers in cutscenes or during conversation, to dispel a mage or take away his/her power.

Well, they were not in a romantic relationship but they were in a relationship regardless. It was just more of a work relationship. I always compared the circle with a boarding school, so I assume that living together was more intense because you couldn't get out. It's probably much more likely that you remember someone when you spent every day with that person. I only visited a "normal" school but I still remember a boy from my class I had a crush on... that's like 20 years ago now. I hope that doesn't make me creepy  ;)  .

That would be amazing! Like, imagine if when we first meet him, we're attacked by a group of mages and then in the cutscenes, as our Inquisitor weakens and falls over, all if a sudden they see a blast of smite hit the Mage that is about to attack you, only to look behind them to see Cullen charging forth looking all fierce and shizz.

Lol so long as you don't dwell on it and mention it to every single person you meet.
