*Prays Bioware doesn't botch this up and make a huge deal about the FMage crush* please, please, please?

I think you'll be right, seeing your canon Warden isn't a FMage.

Sadly, mine is. I found the idea of the Amell cousin amusing, especially when my girl did everything right that she could while my poor Hawke had the suckiest life ever. I hope this decision doesn't bite me in the arse when it comes to the Cullen romance-- if it does? Well, I'll have to leave Cullen's romance to my second or third canon, Human Noble and Dwarf respectively.

They didn't make a big deal about it in DA2, so I think we will be fine.

I don't get the issue with this.

Nobody is saying it should be the complete focus of who he is but he did have a crush whether it was Amell or Surana.   He is a Templar and they were a mage. Its part of who he is.

He could talk about the guilt he felt for harboring such feelings since he is/was a Templar.

Its part of who he was/is.   It can't be denied the same way the abuses of Kirkwall can't be denied.

All those things he experienced in Origins and DA2 are part of his character.

It really depends on HOW he mentions them.

Lol so long as you don't dwell on it and mention it to every single person you meet.

Cullen didn't do that either ;).

The issue is with him still harboring feelings a decade later for a crush he had that never went anywhere. No one, not even I, am stating he can't mention it in passing, but that it shouldn't be such a huge deal with his character. Yes, it would be problematic to many of us if he still harbors these feelings as it is a huge testament to his character as a whole, ie someone who has issues with romantic relationships and may not be the best suited for our inquisitors to romance as such.

I don't think he's constantly going to talk about them. I suspect if he shares info about his past...there will be a brief mention.

It can't be ignored. Its part of his character history.  One brief mention and thats likely all its going to be.

This quote was taken from one of the new loading screens! Sounds freaking awesome! I want to hear more of the Chant!

"Now her hand is raised,

A sword to pierce the sun

With iron shield she defends the faithful,

Let chaos be undone"

Canticle of Victoria 1:3

I honestly don't think the writers are going to do that.

That time is LONG past but it can't be ignored. I suspect there will be a brief mention and that it.

Im more concerned with the acknowledgment of the abuses in Kirkwall's Circle than I am with his crush.   If they gloss over that then I will be disappointed.

I always thought Cullen's crush was cute. He was around her enough to develop one, but I gather they almost never talked. Didn't have the time, different patrols, etc. When he mentioned it in DA2, I thought it was a nice sentiment. He believed she was special, and she was because she became so much more that what the Circle would have allowed. But I also think Cullen has long since made peace with it.

Yeah it was cute. Operative word being was. If ten years later he's still lusting after a dead girl he never had any chance with because she only liked other girls, it's going to be weird and creepy. As you pointed out, he mentioned it in DA2. I don't think they actually have to acknowledge it ever again.

We never know I mean, it may just be the wording, but this blurb has some of us worried that he may still think 'wistfully' of the FMage, much like in DA2 when it is obvious that he still kind of dwelled on her with the tone of his voice and far off look. If he mentions it nonchalantly, it's good, but one more wistful look and sigh of longing and my inquisitor will drop him like a hammer.

Here's the blurb:
"one of the girls standing there loved Cullen and had played as a mage so she was really looking forward to coming full circle with him. Weekes said Cullen’s writer in Inquisition shared her attitude toward Cullen and was very interested in his development."

I think people are just wary because, well... Carth Syndrome

...And how some people at Bioware seem to think it's the crush people pay the most attention to. Which is funny, 'cause I liked Cullen from my first playthrough which was a Casteless Dwarf. I found what he'd been through and the story possibilities there interesting as hell.

I have a feeling he will mention it wistfully again if you romance him, just because that's what they truly believe fans want to hear.

He'll blurt out the wrong name during the sex scene.

Well, they were not in a romantic relationship but they were in a relationship regardless. It was just more of a work relationship. I always compared the circle with a boarding school, so I assume that living together was more intense because you couldn't get out. It's probably much more likely that you remember someone when you spent every day with that person. I only visited a "normal" school but I still remember a boy from my class I had a crush on... that's like 20 years ago now. I hope that doesn't make me creepy ;) .

"Had" being the operative word though. Presumably you're not still pining after him after all that time though lol.

Tbh, even with the professional relationship he didn't talk to her much, he says as much when you respond with "I knew I would not fail my harrowing" and he replies "you've always been so confident... Uh, or so I've heard".

There is that great fan art of sexual beast Meredith leering from the bed while Orsino is putting his clothes back on and looking terrified as hell

Sadly, many on the Bioware team believe this just from blurbs on their twitter accounts...

It's not really Carth Syndrome is it, though?
