About this accent talk.. what kinda accent Cullen has? To me it's just american. I'm pretty bad at telling accents apart, especially if it's within same country ^^;

LOL, naw it's not American. It's just your bog standard Southern British accent... although it has a slight Northern twang because GE was is originally from Lancashire (up North).

So, Cullen question:
Previous DA games have all had companions who would leave/turn on you if certain requirements weren't met/your PC made a choice they could not abide by (like Wynne, Leliana, Zevran, Fenris, Isabella, etc) -- would you like Cullen to have a hard-line personality like this? I ask because I can see a precedent for it in his personality/actions in the past games, so I can see this happening with him (and most of the known companions so far except maybe Varric again and that may change).
And a follow up question: how likely are you to metagame your Inquisitors actions/choices in order to avoid losing Cullen if he can be lost?

Oh of course. But I'd be surprised if he uses his natural accent when doing VO work. Him from Homeland who was the big CIA guy before he got killed off is naturally a Brummie, iirc.

I think Cullen's voice is actually his natural speaking voice?

Maybe I'm missing it but he always just sounds like himself to me. No matter his role (of the ones I've seen) he sounds the same. That's why "Shadows Of The Damned" was sooo funny to me! Hearing Cullen's voice saying the things he does is a trip. But a very fun trip!

That's something I've been wondering in general with the companions. Will they up and leave like the others could in the previous games? I mean, this Fade tear thing threatens all of Thedas and everyone knows it, so would they still leave? Or just tolerate it until the jobs done and then maybe give the Inquisitor a slap and never speak to him/her again, lol.

So, on the topic of accents, my husband went to the DA Sunday panel at PAX East for me despite not being a DA fan, and came home wondering what owl fruit was. "Yeah, the one guy kept talking about how there was totally going to be owl fruit, but it was going to be hard to find, or something! He sounded Australian or something so I don't know?" I had no idea (wondered if it was something from a book I hadn't read), so he's been googling all week to try and figure out WTF owl fruit is.

Last night we finally realized he was hearing "elfroot". And now I'm sad there's not going to be any owl fruit.

I don't mind it that much. I kind of expected it. There are many people in Italy that aren't able to talk and write in english well. There are many who won't buy a game, even if it's excellent and that they'd like, because it doesn't have Italian VA.

yea I know what you mean altho there were several games that were translated in romanian and they sounded weird. I prefer the English version, sounds more natural... at least for me, but I can understand where other ppl com from when they just want it in their language its easier to understand specially if you dont speak english , but some of the actors dont really "transfer" as much "emotion" as the originals tho.. and that's where i find it kind weird when its being translated into other languages .  But anyway have any of you guys already finished you page 1000 project? I feel so behind I haven't really had time to do anything lately... hopefully I can come up with something in time

My grandmother was from Sicily,so I'm part Italian... :D

I'm from South Italy as well, though another region :).

English accents are english accents to me. Only discrepancies I can make out are "it sounds more northern" and "it sounds southern".

I am part italian, if that counts?

Of course! Where did your parent/relatives come from?

I wasn't born Italian but I married an Italian. My mother-in-law is Sicilian with the thickest accent ever. Second only to her brother. So hard to understand what she's saying sometimes. :)

Yeah, i know what you're talking about.
Every city in Italy has its own version of the language (we called it 'dialetto'), which is practically impossible to understand for other italiana of different cities .

I think the devs said that your companions will react a lot to your actions. I think this happens also with NPC LI's so I think Cullen might leave etc. if he disaproves too much. I think there is high chance he will walk out from my pro-mage qunari but I try my best to keep him around. I just hope you can be pro-mage and still have Cullen around.

I prefer the english versions as well, expecially because quite often the Italian versions are really bad. The Italian version of ME is one the best I've ever heard, and it pales in comparison of the English one.

I've thought of that, too, and it seems logical... But then again the threat of the fifth blight in Ferelden was nothing to sneeze at either, it's immediacy not down playable by our OOC knowledge of worse threats to come.... And look at all the companions you could lose, let alone dealing with the faction quests where you have to damn well risk life and limb just to get people to give you aid, ya know?

He had more variety in his voices in Kingdoms of Amalur, I believe.

I think there are probably many things Cullen wouldn't abide and leave the group over. Most likely related to blood magic and demons but yeah, I can see it. Makes it realistic if someone can't condone what you're doing so they leave to keep themselves from being a part of something they object so strongly. And I do meta game enough to not miss quests and check points or fully explore an area but I don't meta game companions. I often paperclip the companions' section together so I can't accidentally see something interesting when I'm flipping through the book. After I've played it half a dozen times, I start meta gaming to find anything I may have missed. Hence why Alistair ninjamanced me! lol!

British accents can actually be English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish, I think, though it's generally used to refer to an English accent. But we've got a ridiculous amount of regional accents. Like Cockney, Geordie, Scouse, Brummie, West Country... the list is massive.

True, although a lot of people didn't believe it and I guess the followers could leave because it's technically Grey Warden business.

Wo ist die Anstalt?
Der pferd ist anders.

I think that's all the German I "know". I'd like to know what it means if anything.

Because I just saw it and you wanted to know:

"Wo ist die Anstalt?" -> "Where is the institution?" but could also mean "Where is the mental hospital?" depends on the context it's in.

And "Der pferd ist anders" probably would be "Das Pferd ist anders." and basically means "The/This Horse is different"

I don' feel it's a perfect translation, but oh well, that's probably just me anyway.^^

I think it depends on your definition of "pro Mage" --- if you mean something like "mages require no oversight whatsoever" or "mages should rule like they do in Tevinter!" Or "gee! I sure love blood magic!" then yes, I think he might take issue. If you are more moderate about mages, I think he'd work with it.
