Yeah, exactly like that. Like, days after the event Cass and Varric arrived to investigate only to find total destruction of the entire town/whatever. As they walk among the wreckage and poking dead bodies hoping for survivors Varric stumbles across our protagonist seemingly dead, then suddenly he/she stirs, startling Varric and instantly causing him to shout Cassandra over: "I've found a survivor, he/she is alive", then they haul our arse outta there and days/a week later we finally wake up from a fevered nightmare/coma and learn that it was hit or miss as to whether we'd survive. *Cue all the fun sh!t*

Hey so can I share some good news about my family that is totally off topic? I have two daughters my partner and I have adopted and our youngest is a foster child (The one who just started talking!) anyway her adoption papers are going to be official this week! So now we will have three amazing girls!

I suspect Cass and Varric will be first too. I have two images in my head when I think of how we end up surviving that veil tear. The first being Flemeth swooping in and saving our arse, and we wake up days later in the nearest town/city being rudely awakened by Cassandra (with Varric in tow) giving us a grilling about how the whole situation happened etc and our character being like:
 
Inquisitor: "W-where am I? Where's the dragon lady??"
 
Cassandra: "What? This man/woman is delusional, fetch me a healer!"
 
Varric: "Dragon Lady? Hm. Dear Seeker, need I remind you of how the Champion came to Kirkwall..."
 
Cassandra: "Not again, Dwarf. I still doubt that the fabled Witch of the Wilds turned into a Dragon age swooped down to save the Champion and his/her friends!"
 
Varric: "Suit yourself."
 
Inquisitor: "Oi, this is my game!" 
 
The second image I have in my head is that it's actually Varric and Cassandra that pulled our soon-to-be Inquisitor out of the firing line to save him/her, or maybe find him/her a few days later close to death and nurse him/her back to health.

I vote for Flemeth! Why break a good trend?

Though wasn't it recently stated that Cassandra and Varric would be recruited separately? O.o or am I imagining things/is that just part of the speculation-to-"fact"-telephone-game?

I think I remember DG saying that he'd love to do something like that, but he added something like "just once," which kinda makes it unlikely.

Hello! I‘m new here and English isn‘t my first language, which is why I always hesitated to post, because I don't want to make any mistakes. So I'm kind of nervous now. But I've followed your great discussions and theories for a long time now and I can‘t get better if I don‘t practice, so I decided to join you here

I‘m really happy that Cullen is a LI. He has much potential for development and I look forward to his story in the upcoming game! And I still hope that he is a companion. Sometimes I believe that he is a companion, sometimes I believe that he is a NPC. Whatever the case, I‘ve enjoyed DA:O and DA 2 and I‘m sure I will enjoy Dragon Age Inquisition and all the companions that game will have as well. I'm just happy that we get to talk with Cullen much more and learn many things about his life. His story could be really interesting

I actually had this idea for a quest waaaaaay back in the early phases of the DAI speculation where we'd visit a City in the middle of some sort of street celebration and there would be crowds dancing in the street getting drunk, entertainers performing and a stage for them to perform on. During which we'd get a bunch of little quests, one of which would be to cause a distraction in order to sneak into somewhere to do something, we'd get to pick one or two companions to go up on stage to perform, as a result they'd possibly end up wearing a stupid costume and each companion would have his/her own "routine" that they'd think up on the spot, for example Varric would tell a dirty story, or Iron Bull could hold a drinking contest with a member of the audience etc, and Cullen would sing or tell a surprisingly filthy joke or something. 

 

I could never decide which of the two I liked the idea of better. Maybe he could sing a crude song? I dunno whether it would be funnier if he couldn't sing for sh!t, or turned out to be really good, lol.

So, Cullen question:
Previous DA games have all had companions who would leave/turn on you if certain requirements weren't met/your PC made a choice they could not abide by (like Wynne, Leliana, Zevran, Fenris, Isabella, etc) -- would you like Cullen to have a hard-line personality like this? I ask because I can see a precedent for it in his personality/actions in the past games, so I can see this happening with him (and most of the known companions so far except maybe Varric again and that may change).
And a follow up question: how likely are you to metagame your Inquisitors actions/choices in order to avoid losing Cullen if he can be lost?

Yes, I would love for most of the companions - not just Cullen - to have a line somewhere. It would just feel more realistic to me, as I've found most people do have those lines. Maybe some of them could be talked through via choices made throughout the game. *shrugs* I'm open to it either way. 

 

2nd question: I will probably metagame the hell out of it... repeatedly. I like to go through all possibilities before I consider myself 'done' with a game.

GE has a pleasant, melodic voice, and rumor has it that he can sing. It's very difficult for someone who *can* sing to do it badly. But then again, they digitally modified Andy Serkis's voice to make the Gollum Fish Song off-key, so anything is possible. And it would be funny!
