Even if they don't need it for spellcasting,I assume they've become addicted to it by now. Will the mages even need the lyrium though, since the Fade has spilled everywhere and seems easily accessible?
(Or is lyrium addiction,only a templar problem...I don't remember.)

You and me both. Yet another thing I'm taking a "believe it when I see it" approach to.

Lyrium addiction could happen with Mages I think, but since they rarely need it unless they're out of mana or need to augment certain spells, they rarely use it enough to become a serious problem. Templars on the other hand have to huff it like paint on a regular basis to keep their skills, so the addiction sets in more quickly.

The mages don't imbibe the more potent stuff, as the stuff the Templars take would kill them via violent hemorrhaging. Also, that more potent lyrium can cut off their magic entirely when branded upon them (Rite of Tranquility).

I wonder then if there will be misfires or spells going haywire with unexpected results. Like a small spell to light a candle accidentally setting the house on fire.

I think we can certainly see that. Try to cast one spell and have it suddenly be supercharged perhaps. I think we will also see a possible increase in the number of children manifesting as well as Tranquil mages also regaining their emotions and powers.

Hmm. Tranquil mages regaining their powers. Regular mages becoming SuperMages. Templars need to up their game. = Red lyrium use by Templars.
I can see it.

Yup, kinda getting desperate cause the magic crisis is out of control and they probably can't keep up.

Given that we know that some mages use magic in the bedroom, I can imagine that there should be a warning on the bottle;
"Warning: Do not use magic during sexual activity for at least 24 hours after ingesting Lyrium. Side effects may include sudden inflammation everywhere from errant fireballs, severe hypothermia, coupled with mild electrocution and/or turning your partner into a walking bomb."

So,I take it that mages can also become addicted to the substance, but due to them using a less potent form and not as often as the Templars,it could take years for them to actually become addicted to it.
Indeed. Now, if they were to be constantly drinking lyrium potions, then yes, they'd get addicted easily, but under normal circumstances, probably not.

Same here. He looks young, but 35 is young too. My husband is older, and even though his hair is grey (because he's a qunari, haha), he doesn't have any wrinkles yet. So I'll keep thinking Cullen is 34-35. He just gets some sleep and fresh air now, it's not like he could get any in DAO. Besides, in DAO, he was supposed to be tortured for weeks and months, and considering he was a minor NPC, the budget would not allow to use two face models for him. So my guess is that they give us the tortured Cullen model, because most players would never even see him pre-Uldred. And now he gets hotter with age, because he's recovering from whatever Uldred did to him.You know, it's funny to me that the artists think their new Cullen looks late 20s-early 30s... because I think he looks like he's mid thirties. Of course, my headcanon, based on the CHR age of 24, is that he's 34 and that just fits for me. But, to me, he sure doesn't look like he could be in his twenties (not that that makes sense with the timeline either, but we're just talking appearance here).
I'm gonna squee again at this hottie. And suggest that if you find a really good surname, you can still call him Cullen. That's the best way to get a unique name in GW2. Cullen Firstfall is moving to the front of the list for me...
Cullen Firstfall should be nice! I headcanon he is of Ascalonian origin, because it seems like it's the closest thing to being Fereldan, and the name sounds all right for that. Picking a bio for him now. I think farmer should be ok. He gets a pretty girl friend then

Well . . . . . . I thought that in DA:O Cullen was probably in his early 20s (like Alistair), and if we add the 10 years of DA2 to that then he would be in his early 30s.
Just judging by his actions and his looks in DA:O I thought he couldn't be any older than early 20s. A newly minted Templar.

Don't buy him though, guys. He's getting hit a lot and dies. I'm tempted not to use him to keep him safe.
