Time to power nap myself!

I think I'm nearly halfway? I just killed that stupid corrupted spider queen and got to the Deep Trenches.  I ended up just making my party members hide around the corner, and then I'd lure the queen over to us and get Wynne to do paralysis explosions. It took forever. But it was either that or get continually overwhelmed and webbed by her creepy little minions. I wish I had taken Morrigan with me instead of Oghren, but I think I'd have had to switch them out later on anyway, so oh well. :S

 

Needless to say, going off of our discussion from this morning about spiders, the Deep Roads have not endeared them to me at all. I think I hate the Deep Roads more than I hated the Fade. 

 

Also, I'm not sure, but are the Fade segments in DA:O and DA:II universally hated or something? Because there was a post going around on tumblr a while back that went something like:

Bioware: ...

 

DA:I: "LET'S SEE YOU AVOID THE FADE NOW B****ES"

 

Yeah Orzammar and the deep roads is just sooooo long, I end up losing focus there,and find myself stopping every so often and browsing the internet just for a break. Sounds like you're almost done though, hang in there lol.

Getting closer to the end of the game I think is always a bit of a drag because you're so close to starting the next part, expansion or next game and you get to the point where you just want to see what happens next.

Really OT here, but when you guys played DA:O, did any of you start to burn out near the end? I'm only on my first playthrough (56 hours and counting so far), and right now I'm trudging through the Deep Trenches towards Branka. When I first started a few months ago, I found that I blasted through the first bit of the game fairly quickly, but lately I've been having to take prolonged breaks from it or else I end up drowsing off in my chair.

 

It's nothing against the game itself, because I'm dying to see the rest of the storyline and I adore it overall. (I really want to hurry up and get back to Denerim and the Landsmeet and the Alienage) I think it might be the gameplay? I adore tactical games, and I ended up increasing the difficulty up to hard (not nightmare this time round), but since I have all my tactics in place and I'm near level cap, I'm just grinding and the macro is getting kind of tedious. Do any of you have any tips? I'm playing a human rogue, if that helps at all.  

 

I'm dying to get to DA:II (not just to see Cullen, but to be able to experience and play through what I've been hearing about for so long), but I refuse to skip over DA:O when I'm so close to finishing. And I know that importing isn't really a problem here because of the Keep, but I dunno. :S I'm an absolute completionist. I have to finish things for myself, it's not enough to just watch the rest on youtube. I have 9 separate completionist playthroughts of ME1, and the shortest I've been able to do absolutely everything in that game is 15 hours, but I don't think I'll be able to do something like that for DA:O. Plus I'm awfully attached to my Cousland Warden, so I don't think I'd be able to make another one in any case, and the least I can do for her is see the rest of her story through.

Yeah, I don't know why but  Orzammar and Deep Roads are the parts I like the least. The "flow" is slow as molasses. I don't know how else to describe it. It gets better after that though and I always liked the Branka storyline. Maybe it has something to do with the level design? Orzammar is supposed to be this huge and majestic dwarf city but it has only got thee booths, two shops and a tavern. I guess I was a bit bored.

I dunno... the Deep Roads have an unnecessary amount of giant fantasy sized spiders. >.> Yesterday I may have scared my neighbours because I went around a corner and then a bunch of spiders came down from the ceiling and I screamed at the top of my lungs...

Oh god if that happened in real life that is a terrifying thought.  

 

It's probably a good thing that I'm getting DA:I on my Xbox One, because I have a surround sound headset which means that my family won't have to listen to my game playing late in the night. ...except that they'll probably hear random screaming and shrieking. :S

I never got the hate for the Fade.

 

It's only about an hour long in Broken Circle, I just pop in some headphones and rock out to music while going through it, to make the time pass by. I do the same thing during the Tower of Ishal dungeon, which believe it or not takes the exact same amount of time, but feels more faster paced due to the urgency of lighting the beacon.

 

The only reason I dislike the Fade in "Night Terrors" in DA2 is because it's a buggy as hell and the puzzles do not work for me, forcing me to have to "cheat" and temporarily use the dev console to give myself the +4 attribute points that I can't legitimately get otherwise! Aside from that, it's a pretty awesome quest, especially if you bring Anders along and Justice manifests.

 

_{(Although it's things like that which do make me question that whole "He and I are one" spiel, since the two are separated in some manner. Even if we accept that it's metaphorical and Justice is affecting Anders just as much as Anders is affecting Justice, the two clearly aren't one entity?)}

 

And Orzammar and the Deep Roads is much more of a slog than the Fade sequence. As much as I love the Dwarves, the entire questline is so long and tedious and slows the already somewhat slow pacing of Origins right down to a crawl while I'm forced to deal with yet more pointless squabbling from (Dwarven) nobles.

 

And since I save Orzammar for last, I jump right from that to even more noble bickering with the Landsmeet!

I never even knew such a thing existed! Lucky PC people with their mods *sigh*. I can do it in about half an hour now so I don't make as much of a fuss about it as I used to.
