I'd need to see all 3 options first and know more about the Venatori cult, who they work for/with/are in support of, how dangerous they are, etc. I think I'd probably go some form of killing route if we had no more details of what King Markus is like.

those Venatori are no darn good.

Y'know, that Venatori quest we can get them to resolve might be one of the events that sets the ball rolling for Leliana to get captured, lol.

Not sure...I had thought that maybe Leliana's capture was more because we sent her to Redcliffe, not Nevarra.

Oh don't be hasty, maybe they're just unhappy and misunderstood evil bloodmagic-y villains?  Why can't we all just get along.   :P

yeah, they're just really wondering where the bus is, too.

The devs said that it was a result of choices we'd made leading up to it, so that little quest could be part of the bigger chain reaction that leads to Leliana eventually get captured.

We do know a decent bit about him actually.

"The current ruler of the nation is Markus Pentaghast, a old man of weak health and uncertain sanity. His rule has been condemned by those who claim his Mortalitasi advisers are ruling through him."

Basically, he's letting necromancers run Nevarra.

... He's related to Cassandra? Dayum, the result of that one could cause a few problems with her, lol.

and they prolly put a bloodmagic spell on him to make him sickly and half crazy so they could assume more power, more easily.

I think I'd probably send Cullen in then, he knows how to deal with blood mages and the thrall they sometimes have over innocent people.

I love how Josephine's all like "maybe we could trying talking to them..." And Leliana's all like "Nope. Kill them. Kill all of them. None shall live mwahahahaha!"

It's funny because it was Cullen I was expecting to be like that. Unless he is, in which case we'll have two balls to the wall-ers on our hands lol!

Yeah, I would've expected Cullen's to be "go and kill them." But Lel seems to be suggesting assassination, whereas I could see Cullen's being much more direct. Like, maybe threaten Nevarra with war unless he drops the advisor or storm the castle and replace the ruler and the advisor or something. I dunno.

edit: @Lola: maybe that's why they didn't show the cullen option?

Is there a video of this somewhere online?

It's quoted on page 2595. It's from the EA press conference footage shown by Aaryn Flynn.

Cullen's probably a reasonable choice if there's blood magic about but I still think I'd go for Leliana's direct stab everything and then stab it again approach because

a)  it's awesome and

b )  I wouldn't want to risk Cullen......I'm a bad person.

hmm, i beginning to think that this is not Cullen's bag. Perhaps, leli or josie really is the best option?

Yeah, the Pentaghasts are an enormous family, so yes, Cass is indeed distantly related.

A little late to chime in on Cullen drinking, but if I recall, Wynne tells Ohgren in companion banter that the Tranquil are alchemical geniuses and they always had ale and wine on the table at meals. No reason to think the Templars were excluded from this.

Ummm, trust me, I don't think the Inquisition would ever be strong enough to declare war on Nevarra. We're good, but not that good. I think that attempting such a thing would be a dumb idea, and would cost way too many lives.

and if this markus is under the influence of sum kinda dark magic--i don't think trying to talk to him would work.

This guy is already frail, old, and possible insane due to inbreeding, so it might not even require magic. All it takes a push in the right direction...makes me wonder if the Venatori are in cahoots with the Mortalitasi, cause I don't think the necromancers would suffer the cultists taking over unless they are working together.

Finished off my blog post (finally) and I'm sooo sorry I didn't include the Cullen Mod cmesa.  I could only work with ten and there were so many I use on every time I load the games up.... please forgive me!  I am not worthy to bask in your presence!!! (grovels)

I have never heard this banter before.... I must now run across Orzammars bridge until everyone refuses to talk anymore.  You'd think Id have heard it by now through sheer luck, but alas, it isn't so :(  Epic Fail!

You know... this storyline sounds a little too LOTR-ian to me.

Then again... if we get some Cullen storming in action ala Aragorn... <3 <3 <3

Real problems: I keep hoping for a @DragonAgeKeep invite and thinking it'll come but *because* I keep thinking that, I won't get one.

Yeah, I don't think that's plausible either. Just can't think of anything else.

Especially if we suspect the bad guys may be in cahoots with the mortalitasi and may have managed to control those undead enough to turn them against us. It's not hard to imagine that going to war could cause a geometrically expanding army of the undead, made up from slain soldiers on both sides... and now I'm having Redcliffe flashbacks...
