That makes a lot of sense. Though I hope you can have the choice to have th call you differently. It would be word for us to have a romantic moment with Cullen and he calls us the Herald.

Oh, I'm sure that won't be the case. I think it'll totally depend on the situation, for example Cullen/the LI calling us "Snookums" in front of the troops would be not only disrespectful to our protagonist but entirely unprofessional. We're their superior after all, so titles like "Inquisitor" or "Herald" when dealing with business matters is to be expected, but when they aren't out in the field with our soldiers or just chilling in the Skyhold then they'll likely call us by our Surname Trevelyan/Adaar/Cadash/Lavellan and (if romancing them) "love" or "dear" when being sarcastic, perhaps they'll even have an affectionate little nicknames for us?

That would be nice! I know they won't use the love nicknames on the battlefield , but I was just meaning being formal off the field. I lead more toward the surname personally, but I might change my mind if he does give a love nickname. :)

I think it'll be a progressive thing based on the character's personality. So when you're still acquaintances it'll likely be "Inquisitor" and titles like that, but over time it'll become your Surname, perhaps we'll get the option to tell them to call you by that particular name. Of course, there will be exceptions to the rule, I can't imagine Sera calling your character by his/her title because that sort of thing holds no interest or meaning to her, she may do once or twice when called for, but beyond that I doubt it, lol.

Agreed!

Cullen - " Kill them all Snookums" while we are discussing tactics or missions would be blergh lol.

I would like him to be less formal outwith the war-room though, especially in the company of the other companions.

My preferred all around would be my surname, kind of got used to it with Hawke. Nicknames would be awesome for private time although Im not so keen on "Dear", makes me feel old lol.

Would be funny though!

I'm not worried about the whole name thing, they've always managed to pull it off in the past, even in DA:O by completely avoiding the companions using the Surname altogether.

That's why I think people started calling the Inquisitor "Herald of Andraste" because no matter who that spirit is, especially if it is the Divine, people are gonna presume that the Maker/Andraste allowed her to do this one last thing before going to their side, or wherever it is spirits go. Plus, very few have ever actually physically been inside the fade before, perhaps that's the sort of thing that happens if you directly touch a spirit, lol.

Can you imagine the responses from the companions around the table if he said that? :D -gigglesnort-

Well...didn't we technically do it in Awakening, due to the Mother's spell in Blackmarsh?

TBH I also like the Justinia idea, primarily because I don't like the Andraste one. DG has been pretty clear that they won't ever explain or even introduce you to the Thedosian gods. But the departing soul of the dead giving you a magical McGuffin? That I could see.

Cullen: "Sorry to interrupt, Snookums, but I really feel that our troops should flank from th-"

Varric: "Ha! What was that? Snookums?!"

Inquisitor: *Facepalm*

Cullen: *Look of horror* "W-what? I didn't say that, I said "Inquisitor"... I definitely said Inquisitor!"

Cassandra: *Unimpressed* "You really didn't."

Naw, we passed out and awoke in it as a dream only.

I think they'll hint and tease during DAI, cause I know we're beginning to run into some deities of different Thedosian pantheons.

That's kinda my point. They keep telling us it's rare... Except that all of our PCs and our book main characters seem to do it all the damn time. #justsayin

Well...wouldn't everybody's first inclination be to point at us and scream, "BLOOD MAGIC", if they see us drop out of the Veil? Damn, no wonder Cass locks us up.

Plus, she was and still is a very talented Bard. She was pulling strings behind the scenes to bring back the Inquisition as it was. I think she knew something was going to go horribly wrong (although not precisely what). I bet she had a feeling her life was in danger, that she'd likely not survive so she put measures in place to make sure that Cassandra, Leliana and Cullen weren't at that peace gathering when Cass and Leli should have been given that they are the left and right hand. What I don't think she bargained for was an explosion that tore the veil breach open, let alone for there to be a lone survivor in it's epicenter after she became a spirit. Of course she'd use her final moments on this earth (be it alive or in spirit form) to do whatever she could to give Thedas a fighting chance. I think she saw a glimmer of hope and totally went for it.

I suspect that when we see the spirit/divine reaching for our protagonist it's here that pulls us directly into the Fade to get us out of the blast, and by grabbing her hand she accidentally or purposely bestows us the power to close fade rifts. In the trailer you see the Inquisitor falling from a great height into the Fade, I think that's from the/her spirit pulling us in with her last bit of energy before returning to the Makers side.

But why save us? Why us, out all those people?

Because we was the only one left, or perhaps the only one closest. Everyone else gets turned into burnt husks, right? Maybe it hadn't hit us yet so she was like "oi, up here! Quick, move before you get your arse killed!"

I don't think it was so much a choice on her part, or she'd choose someone like Leliana or Cassandra, but rather we were the only person she saw as we were the only one on the same plane of existence as her at the time.
