It took me years to realise that's what they actually call it in America. I thought the TV shows were just changing the title slightly because it wasn't supposed to be advertising it or something. Is Waldo even a name?

As a side note, I prefer Where's Miranda.

I preferred the Hunt With Hooroo books when it came to the 'find so and so' style books. *childhood feels*

No, to me, they are very different, they just are. Now if you want to talk about redundancy, how about the possibility of having three mages on our team. I'm fine with Vivienne being pro-Circle and Solas being whatever the heck he is, but a THIRD mage? Seems redundant in my opinion. What other possible point of view could s/he be bringing? I'd much rather have a fourth rogue or warrior (Cullen's likely inclusion or exclusion not withstanding).

Not really. We have a pro-Circle mage, an apostate, and possible Tevinter magister. That's as about as far from redundancy as you can get.

I would be totally okay with a third mage if they're as much of a perfect queen as Minerva McGonagall.

*now drags self away from Harry Potter and back to DA*

All the LIKES for you!! ALL OF THEM.

Dorian, as a Tevinter magister, can provide a different view from Solas, Who is an apostate. For example, a Tevinter magister companion in DA2 would've provided a different view from Anders or Merrill.
There are other possibilities as well. A Rivaini seer, a saarebas, a Nevarran Mortalitasi. They'd all provide a different viewpoint from the current companions.

I guess I'm just not a fan of mages. I agree a Rivaini seer would be interesting, as would a former Saarebas (although that would almost be too sad for me to handle). But still, two mages is enough for me. Like I said, not a huge fan of mage characters.

Well it was just my opinion; you don't have to agree  ^_^

I'm of the same mindset, not one for too many mages in my party, either. Just my opinion, though.

Wait, I've only heard Where's Waldo. So it's Wally in the UK?

And maybe other countries.

Fair enough.

That moment when you realise that Greg Ellis voiced one of your childhood heroes  :o  This guy really has been everywhere hasn't he?!

I can't wait for E3 though. That's my idea of an end-of-exams celebration  :)

I think what has everyone going is the whole idea of the "even spread". Although, that doesn't confirm 3/3/3...

I swear that one of the devs claimed the same thing about not wanting an all mage party....

In the early games I know that this was a thing. I'm not sure if it was said in relation to Inquisition, because there are other things to balance out the party, specifically out-of-combat situations that can only be dealt with by a Warrior. That said, it has not been confirmed that there is a 3/3/3 party make up, although the phrase "even spread" (I believe that's the exact quote we were given via the PAX East tweets) points to it.

Now, for DHMG, if he's Dorian, we could have the perspective of an actual magister. Meaning someone who is actually knowledgeable in Blood Magic. That makes me excited. Plus the viewpoint of someone who knows about Tevinter from the perspective of someone who has benefited from the system (he was a magister at some point, he got the good end of the stick for awhile) and realized there is something terribly wrong there. Sounds a little like a certain Knight-Captain we've talked just a tad about, eh?

Really, for Cullen to be in, we'd need either for there to be two rogues, or for the Grey Warden to be a rogue. That's it.

My problem with mage companions, is that they all tend to have the same, (or at least very similar), simplistic view on the Mage/Templar debate. Which is why I like the sound of Vivienne's pro-Circle beliefs

So, this is from waaaaaay back, but - Cullen and shipping? I guess I'm an oddity as a forums-active fan, because.... I really don't do the shipping thing. The only exception would be daydreaming up stories of some of my Wardens or Hawkes in a relationship with someone not an LI (yet)like Cullen or Nathaniel Howe (yes, I adore him. ADORE HIM. ALWAYS!!!). Outside of that shipping... At best it bewilders me in a bemused "ooookay then" kind of way... And some just outright give me the heebie jeebies, like Anders x Fenris. The thing is I can't give a good reason for why it doesn't appeal to me... The closest I can get is to admit a selfish possessiveness of all the characters, if that makes any sense.

I disagree, as I have stated, we still don't know that 3/3/3 is a thing. Therefore that adds on to the whole possibility. Also, we don't know if GW is a companion. Again, needs to be completely confirmed.

I found a Tevinter magister mildly interesting when I thought Dorian might be an elf. But I already know about Tevinter magisters from Fenris, so if a regular human one decided enough is enough, and is just going to come and tell me all about how crazy Tavinter is, well, I've already had that? And please, no more blood mages. It was bad enough that Hawke HAD to befriend Merrill, whether s/he wanted to or not (she always shows up at the final battle, whether you do any of her quests or not). Now yes, I do have some Hawke's who loved her and accepted her, but I had some who were 100% against blood magic (even if they were pro-mage freedom) and wanted nothing to do with her cute little self. I just don't need to see another blood mage, and Dorian being a boring old human magister is, well, boring to me.

Vivienne is, aside from her personality and her look (which is AWESOME), sooo YAWN. Another pro-Circle mage? Again, we've seen that.. And Solas, the apostate. Well, we know next to nothing about him, so I'm willing to not pass judgment for now :P But he better be interesting. NOT Dalish, please; we've already had two Dalish mages before! If he's some crazy throwback from a by-gone era, OR if he's the replacement for Dorian, and a runaway Tevinter magister, then I'm curious.

EDIT: This is saying nothing against the writers, and I'm sure these will all be great characters. This is just my random personal rant against mage characters  I often try to play without any mages at all in my party.

I don't do the shipping thing much, but Carver/Merrill is my DA OTP.

Harry/Luna too, speaking of the HP series.

That he has. I found out yesterday that he was in an episode of Star Trek Deep Space Nine. And sooo many other things that I'm boggled.

I'm not even sure where Dorian plays in all of this. To me, it's just another name thrown around.

*snip*

Oh good. I thought I was the only one. Merrill drove me mental the first time I played the game. I wanted nothing to do with her, and pretty much ignored all of her quests...and then she still showed up at the end. She completely rubbed me the wrong way.

I've played a few characters since that have been willing to interact with her (and some of them even liked her!), but to this day I still haven't been able to complete her romance arc.

Vivienne's pro-Circle status is different from Wynne's and Bethany's, as well As her reasons for supporting the status quo.
Solas is an apostate, but that doesn't mean he'll share the same view as the ones we had before. Morrigan and Anderd were both apostates, and their views and opinions were different.
It's like saying that Cullen would be redundant because we already got Alistair and Fenris, who covered the templar/anti-mage views.

Alistair technically never became a Templar, though, in his defense.
