It kinda looks like they got rid of the full facial scruff/shadow, and stuck with his iconic look of the goatee/mustache combo. Might just be the lighting and lack of detail in the screencap'd pic.

I wonder if I should try to ask about his skirt too, or leave it for speculations?
I was studying Meredith's armor today, and I noticed that the decorative pattern on her skirt matches the pattern of the back side of Cullen's skirt (we see it during Dorian's scene in the trailer), and that she wears the same gauntlets, just without the templar insignia. She also wears the same golden sash, that looks like a ribbon. Also HoDA Cullen is dressed exactly like Meredith, just wears a shorter skirt, because he's shameless. Of course, HoDA is not a good source of information, but the design of Cullen's armor in DAI looks like he was the Knight-Commander, and kept most parts of his armor when he joined the Inquisition. Or maybe he looted Meredith's wardrobe, of which I approve, because I love looting myself.

 

This was my thinking as well. It just makes sense.

 

It would be awesome to find out more about the origin(s) of his armor.

I see these resemblances, too, which begs the question of if he was Knight-Commander of Kirkwall. I always headcanoned that his KC armor would be a male version of Meredith's, too. Also, the other templar skirts seem to be a bit shorter in general for DA:I. Seems they've changed them to be a  mesh over actual legs, so maybe his skirt just reflects a general shift in how they can do robes/skirts in general with Frostbite? 

 

Anything she'd tell us about the skirts would be welcome!

I have a silly image in my head. Cullen, being a rebellious young templar who wants to wear pants, or at least a shorter skirt, because the long one gets dirty, and gets in the way when you run. But Meredith is like, "YOU ARE NOT GOING OUT DRESSED LIKE THAT, YOUNG MAN!!!" So as soon as he got rid of her, he changed the rules to make skirts shorter, and that's why the templars of Kirkwall love him so much Because it's practical!

OT, but I was watching some shark documentary yesterday with my kids and Paul Walker was on it :-( he died during the making of it so he didn't get to see what they were doing come to full potential. The man that's the specialist on sharks was his close friend and talked about it briefly, it was actually really sad.

That, and I zoomed it 3 times  And his face was also not in focus. But it's the only similar angle.

Same here, the one on the right looks like its been graphically toned down, for the war table scenes.  Leliana's looks the same. Kind of reminds me of the catwalk scene in the Citadel  where all the squad are firing down on the enemy, they all have blurry faces. It's not as bad but it reminds me of that.

It's basically the same angle. But one looks potato, and the other looks hot.

(my Quizzy will be pulling his nose down when he does that, like my mom did with mine when I was a kid. Because my nose does that thing too, lol)

 

Count me in as preferring the left nose too! Although he looks so puffy otherwise in that picture. I just don't love how smoothed-out? cartoony? the other one looks and how upturned the tip is. The trailer where he's being all badass and yelling at the troops is my least favorite nose yet, but I can see how the recent War Table picture could be the same nose but scrunched up. BUT I will totally take "weird nose that doesn't resemble his previous two" in trade for "is otherwise the first screencap I would have picked out as Cullen before learning about his survey leak outfit"!!

 

SEMI OFF TOPIC: I just got back from vacation to find that my Inquisition tank top had arrived, and just a warning to anyone else who was thinking about buying it--it's a really weird cut and fabric IMO. The size chart says it's smaller at the chest for a given size than the N7 one, but the Inquisition one was really tight in the chest and really loose everywhere else (which I should have guessed from the photo of it laid out flat), whereas I liked the fit of the N7 one everywhere. Not a fan.

Mine came today too, it's a weird fit. Fine around the boobs but loose everywhere else. I'd ordered a medium due to my sizable jugs but it seems to be more baggy than they usually are... the vest that is, not my jugs, LOL!

Yes! So it really does look like they're continuing to iterate on him. (and yay for the goatee!)

It would have, if he were a real person who doesn't use botox So I think it's funny that he kinda always did that, we just couldn't notice, because the animation was not that advanced yet.

I think that's another reason why he seems to look so different in every shot (tweaks aside), because the facial animations are so more in-depth this time that you can actually see the different muscles move and contract as it moves from one expression to another.

Yessss! Can you imagine how our Inquisitors will look? It'll be easier to make different faces that don't look like arse too, so we'll get to see how different facial structures look in movement on our characters. I'm so excited to see how protagonist in action!
