Hi! Nothing I can think of except Cullen gets his head chopped off in one of the possible endings.   :P

And I also have a Tabris/Cailin one shot in need of editing. Whaaaaat? Tabris and Cailin? That's just weird! Yeah, I know, but it is totally going to be hawt!  ;)

Lol, I'm kinda glad I don't live inside your head, allsorts of messed up stuff in there I bet ;) My mind refuses to even go to that place, nobody better get beheaded in my pt's lol.

Tell me something please, (unless it's top secret lol), where do your muses come from? Is it something naturally within you guys, or is it something you work on/learn? I always imagined a muse as almost an alter-ego, kind of guiding or teasing ideas, artistry from you. Is a baseline talent required do you think? or can these things be teased from non-arty folks (ever hopeful!)?.

I'm a massive reader, I love books and I read loads of fanfics. Often, I get small (very small lol) ideas for a wee story or something but I just don't/can't find the words, sometimes to the point of real frustration, that enable me to put anything in writing. I've often scribbled bits down, then re-read it and thought    then just scrumple it up and chuck it lol.

I'm just fascinated by the talents both written and pictures that you guys have and would love to know if there is a "trick" to learn :)

Is there a shelter somewhere for homeless/abandoned muses? if so, let me know, I'll adopt one! :D

I'm still at a loss to what characters to make in Inquisition. I know what classes they will be but other than that not much.

My Hawkes I did try to go in depth with. One was a Chantry hating aggresive Hawke out only to gain power, which usually ended up killing mages because the higher ups wanted her to. The other was a mage loving freedom fighter Anders fanboy, also hating the Chantry. Last was a Templar who respected the maker and did the best to uphold the circle, but protecting his sister above anything else, even the rules.

Inquisition? No idea. Female Templar who romances Cullen but who will bang Josephine beforehand. Yup so much lore.

I'll try and answer this before I head to sleep, but hmm.

It's a little bit of both, I'd say. For me, writing isn't just an art, it's a craft. It helps if it's something that comes naturally and easy to you, but it's something you have to work on, and work hard at. All the time. There's a technical side to it just as much as there is a creative side, and you have to work hard at and utilize both when you write. If writing is not something that comes naturally to you, then that's okay. It doesn't mean you'll never be good at it, it just means you have to work harder to achieve the results you want--- and that means that when you do, it'll be all the more satisfying to you.

As for muses? :S I dunno. I can't really explain how I get my ideas. I know some people have "muses", but I don't think I do. I just get like... an inkling I guess, or a small seed of inspiration, sometimes, that sort of grows in the back of my mind, and I play with it and mould it and cultivate it until it grows into something more of an idea. But it's awesome that you read a lot! If you're looking to start writing, that's an awesome habit to have. Reading isn't just inspiring, it's also a good learning experience. You subconsciously pick up tricks and lessons as you read, and that'll help you develop your own voice and style just as much as writing regularly would.

As for not being able to find the right words... writing is a trial and error process, and a constant learning process, and the harshest critic you'll ever have is yourself. When you write something down, try taking a step back from it for a while, and then come back to it. Keep rewriting it, keep thinking it through, keep shaping it and moulding it until it seems to have a life of its own. Write what you know! And I don't just mean that like, only writing what you've experienced. I think it's impossible to write without putting a little bit of yourself into everything. It's a giving and taking sort of relationship, a learning process--you're putting some of yourself in the worlds you're creating and the characters you're breathing life into, but at the same time, you're also taking some of them into yourself. It's not so much sympathy as it is empathy. The best stories are the ones that make you feel like you're there alongside those characters, experiencing everything alongside them as you read, right? It's the same with writing. Write what you know, and if you don't know it, find out. If that means research, then fine. Do it! If that means putting yourself into your character's shoes and trying to be them for a day? Do it! Do what you need to do. A lot of the writing process is taken up by research.

And remember what I said about the harshest critic you'll ever have is yourself? Don't be too hard on yourself. Everyone has to start somewhere and work their way forward. The next time you get an idea and you scribble something down? Keep them! Don't throw them out, no matter how frustrating it is! Learn from them! And keep working at it. :) One day, you'll be able to look back at what you wrote before and what you're writing now, and you'll see how much you've learned and grown. And that's the best motivation you can give yourself.

So that's it. My trick is hard work. And... some insane giggling, and maybe some maniacal laughter, but I happen to think it's a very valid and important part of the writing process. And wow, I didn't mean for this to get long. :S Sorry, I tend to ramble on when I'm talking about something I'm passionate about.

I think the desire and need to tell stories is just something you are born with. I can't not write; I've been writing and telling stories (even to myself, in my head) since I was in grade school. A "muse" is just a personification of that whole concept,I guess. Ideas will always bombard you if storytelling is in your blood. The hardest thing is telling 90% of those ideas NO because you just can't focus on telling 20 stories all at once.

(Problematic dynamics that the writers will hopefully not fall into / fail to notice aside:) Given Cullen's character arc so far, I'll be a lot more disturbed if he calls the Inquisitor the Herald in public (as in the trailer) but doesn't really believe it. :\

I agree with the desire and need to tell stories. But I guess the writing course that I took really screwed up something in my head ("Nooo... you don't do it like that. Nooo... that doesn't make any sense. Nooo... it's still not right.") Sigh. Writer's block, anyone? So, embrace your ideas ;) .

I get what you mean, but I don't think I'd...I would accept A LOT of things in the name of morale.

If Cullen needs his troops to believe that my Quizzy is the Herald of Andraste, regardless of what he believes personally, then I'm alright with that.  Morale can be powerful (I think Alistair even says that in Redcliffe), and Cullen would not be a good general if he didn't use every tool at his disposal, yeah?

Okay, took me a while to decide which Inquisitor idea I wanted to do this for. My male rogue I've talked about before was a given, but lets go with the girl I've been working on this time!

I have found that writing courses are sh!t.

In the Creative Writing class I took, the professor COMPLETELY TORE APART a boy because when we had to speak about our process, he talked about how he saw 'scenes' in his head, and simply translated that into his writing. I got so mad at her and her attitude I stood up in the middle of that class and told her to shove it.

She also banned fantasy, scifi, bush stories, stories based on the POV of animals, and all kinds of other stuff. So there ended up being a LOT of pregnant teenager stories because the class had no damn idea what she was after. I wrote a horribly detailed murder case in protest.

While my Inquisitor may not believe in the Maker etc herself, I/she wouldn't try to discourage or insult other people's beliefs. So if they wanna call her the Herald of Andraste then who am I/who is she to demand they stop using that title. So long as they aren't trying to treat her like a god or consider her above the people then I'm/she's all good.

The only thing she'd/I'd say (if given the option to voice opinions on the situation in-game) is that she just considers herself lucky to be alive and that she should be treated no different to anyone else, regardless of her Inquisitor status. Humble Inquisitor is humble, LOL!

Seems to me, it would add untold pressures to writing creativity to have so many topics off-limits. I bet that murder case you wrote was worth it lol.

I never took any classes outwith high school but I remember in class we had to conduct a "talk" for 2mins about some random thing, chosen from a hat, I picked out "Salt".....teacher had to ask me to sit down after 3mins lol (never had a problem talking, writing coherently, whole different ball game!)

I think mine would be similar to yours, but when people start calling her the Herald of Andraste, she'll think they need professional help and try to contact Hannah and Kirrahe's Inquisitors.

I definitely see where you're coming from too, and it wouldn't crush my fondness for his character (like, say, being mage-gated probably would). But then instead of the inquisitor manipulating him via his religion, he's doing it (in a very mild way) to his troops, even if it is for their own good. I'd rather see a characterization where he's absolutely uncompromising about saying / doing only what he really believes in. Again, though, not remotely a deal killer.

I absolutely agree, to an extent; it truly depends on the person teaching the course and what his/her goal is. I have had four writing teachers in my life time. The first was my fifth grade teacher; he encouraged us to write stories from time to time. This was the first time I'd ever written the stories in my head down, and it was wonderful. Sometimes we would read our stories aloud.

My second writing teacher was in high school in a creative writing class. No genre was banned, no style of writing was forbidden. We wrote poetry, fiction, whatever. We would critique one another and had a reading at the end of the semester. It was really lovely.

My third writing teacher was as an undergrad in college; it was for a creative writing course, and I loved it so much I took it twice. We met weekly and critiqued the poem we had written that week. At the end of the semester, we turned in a short story and critiqued that as well. He was a wonderful person who sadly passed away from cancer, and I owe him everything as a writer.

My fourth writing teacher was a professor in grad school, and he was exactly as you described, so I don't have to go into detail. Suffice it to say, his criticism and snobbery stopped me from writing, full-stop, for about five years. I did not write a thing, nothing. Then in 2007 or so I started to write fanfiction, and the floodgates reopened. So yeah, f*** that guy lol I'm back.

I want your first three teachers!

I agree, though! To be fair, I HAVE had good writing teachers. One teacher in high school, who encouraged me to really get into writing and one at uni who really helped with structure. I remember them fondly-- as well as the confidence boost that high school teacher gave me when she took my story and used it as an example of good character development. There's a horrible satisfaction that comes from beating the ace of the class, I will not lie.

That other teacher, though, was a real horror. Damn!

Gawd, she would have hated me then! Firstly, I can't spin a good story in written words worth a sh*t and secondly any inspiration I get for anything always plays out like a scene in my head, LOL!

... I would have made that b*tch cry if she dared try to tear me apart in front of the class though, can't stand bullies.

It's how I write as well, but her attitude towards that guy was just disgusting. His story was good too. It was about a forest fire and a fire fighter, and I really liked his characterisation. She pretty much spat on his story, though, just because his process wasn't the same as hers. It didn't matter how good it was, the fact he apparently wrote it the 'wrong way' earned him an instant fail for that exercise. I was so angry. :/
