So we might go for drinks when we defeat a dragon? I love it! And for the advisors I picture returning to Skyhold after fighting a dragon and Cullen walks up to you and expresses his joy that you're still alive. Maybe if it's early/pre relationship there's some stuttering involved. :3

Oh hey, I have another Inquisitor question for you and it's related to our thread name!
What does your Inquisitor think of the Mage/Templar shenanigans? What do you think they'll think of Cullen when they first meet him?
My human rogue is conflicted about the Mage/Templar war, but dammit, at this rate it seems she's conflicted about everything *rolls eyes*. On the one hand, her older brother is a mage, and even if she hasn't seen him for years since he was taken away, she's extremely worried about him. (Is he alive? Is he dead? If he's alive, what is he doing and who is he with? More importantly, is he safe? Probably not.) I'm a big fan of the "all the Origins exist at once! So I took that concept and now it's my headcanon. My rogue has a younger sister who is training to be a warrior too.
But on the other hand, she also thinks that magic is dangerous and sees the need for the Templars, but she thinks that they need to be reigned in more. But at the same time, she also thinks that perhaps the Templars shouldn't be ruled over by the Chantry since she thinks that the Chantry has gotten too powerful and is more embroiled in politics than it should be. (She's an Andrastian, but she wants the separation of Church and State. And also because she's been disillusioned by the Chantry.) So she wants the Templars to be more regulated so that they don't abuse their power, but she doesn't think that this should be done by the Chantry, but isn't sure of another solution.
Edit: oh balls I forgot. As for what she'll think of Cullen... hmm.
Well, since the human noble is from the Free Marches, I imagine that she'd have heard of what happened in Kirkwall. So she'd respect him, but she'd still be wary of him. All she'd know about him at first is that he was/is a Templar, he was the Knight-Captain in Kirkwall when the Chantry was blown up, and the acting Knight-Commander afterwards (and since Hawke disappears no matter what, therefore de-facto ruler of Kirkwall because everyone knows that it's the Chantry who is the real political power in Kirkwall). She would also know that some of the Templars have split from the Chantry, and that mages and templars are attacking and killing each other left right and center. And given that he's working with Cassandra and Leliana, she's going to assume that he's still loyal to the Chantry, which is an organization that she distrusted even before the split and the war broke out. So respect, but wariness. But if he's kind to her, and patient with her, then she'd warm up to him much faster.
And you know, he's hot. She'll think he's really attractive but that won't start distracting her away from being professional until she actually starts to like him and can't really ignore his attractiveness anymore.

He does seem like a "just the facts ma'am" type. I think if you asked him about his appearance, he'd rattle off the stats just like that, no embellishment. I can even hear it in my head.
I don't know why, but for some reason this gave me a mental image of Varric trying to set of an online dating profile for Cullen (under the guise of something else, I think), except that when he's asking him to describe himself Cullen is being very utilitarian about it and it's frustrating. xD
Don't mind me, just catching up on the thread!

And then Varric ends up embellishing it so much that he gets hundreds and hundreds of date requests and women turning up at the Skyhold just to catch a glimpse of him, LOL!

And ah! It is so weird to think that in just a few months we will actually be playing DAI! The thought hit me and I was like, "yep. This is reality!"
So on topic, I wonder if Cullen is going to stay with re Templars the whole game. He has the insignia in some shots, but I thought he was lacking it in others (or am I remembering wrong again!? ><

Elven Rogue/Warrior
Enslaved long ago by humans, most elves still live as second-class citizens within human cities. Elves who reject this life are known as the Dalish: nomadic wanderers who strive to keep the ancient elven religion and traditions alive. You were raised in the wilderness to be a hunter, relied upon by the Lavellan clan for food and protection. The clan wandered the northern Free Marches and had little need to interact with humans—until the clan's Keeper sent you to the Chantry's conclave as a spy. What happened there, she said, would impact not only the Dalish but indeed all elves. She could not have known how right she was.
Human Mage
Born to the Trevelyan noble family of Ostwick in the Free Marches, you were originally intended for a life of privilege—until magical abilities surfaced at a young age and you were forced into a life of confinement within Ostwick's Circle of Magi. Protected but stifled, educated but isolated, the Circle would have been your entire future had the mages not rebelled against Chantry rule. Like it or not, you had to fight for your life against templars hunting down all "free" mages. You joined the delegation of mages attending a Chantry conclave in hopes of negotiating peace with the templars. It didn't go well.

Qunari Mage
Followers of the strict religious philosophy of the Qun, the Qunari appeared like a tidal wave to the north of Thedas three hundred years ago. You are Tal-Vashoth, a Qunari who has rejected the Qun and never even lived in Qunari lands. You have earned a place within the Valo-kas mercenary company as its mage, possessing abilities that would have made you a pet slave among your own people, ignoring the fearful looks you receive from those around you. Most recently the company was sent to the Chantry conclave, hired swords meant to keep the peace—a task that has gone horribly wrong.

Human Rogue/Warrior
As the youngest child of the Trevelyan noble house, you grew up in the Free Marcher city of Ostwick and have enjoyed a life of privilege. With close family ties to the Chantry, and many relatives among the priesthood and the templars, you were always expected to follow a similar path in service of the Maker—regardless of how you feel about the matter personally. Willing or unwilling, you were sent to the Chantry's conclave to assist relatives who sought to make peace between the templars and mages. It didn't go well.
Dwarven Rogue/Warrior
The dwarves of Thedas are known for their once-vast underground empire and guilds of merchants and warriors held in high esteem by the other races of Thedas. Not you. A cast-off "surfacer," unwelcome among the dwarves or most humans, you have scraped by as part of a criminal fraternity known as the Carta, smuggling magical ore known as lyrium. As part of the ruthless Cadash crime family, you spent your life on the streets of various Free Marcher city-states—until you were sent to the Chantry conclave as a spy and everything changed.
