Oh, I could have worked with it if he had younger siblings too! I don't mind, but being the youngest child just adds to how I'm going to play him.
They could still be the youngest if they had a set age in the 30s

Well, obviously! Like I said, I really don't care what the set age is.
It just sort of personally worked out for the character I've designed that he doesn't have younger siblings.

Ah ok, misread what you posted ![]()
I loved the backgrounds too. They totally work for my descent from slightly unbalanced to out and out bat-er-poop mage build.
From a noble, religious family, she loses everything to magic and life in the Circle, watches the Circle implode and is forced to fight against those she's viewed as protectors. She desperately clings to the hope of peace and reconciliation and BOOM - dead allies everywhere, demons, a decimated Chantry AND some view you as a quasi religious figure.
HA..my little mage has more than enough reason to lose the plot spectacularly. Drama, drama everywhere, I couldn't be more delighted. ![]()
Popping in to say I featured DA Fan and Ability Drain on my top 5 YouTuber countdown. I have 2 whole regular readers right now, so maybe you guys will get 2 more viewers
Oh wow! Thank you! ![]()
Where is this countdown thingy?
I really like the backgrounds, but I especially liked the Trevelyan rogue/warrior. Being someone who's actually part of (or aspiring to be part of) the Chantry will be interesting. My rogue/warrior Trevelyan will be a very dedicated Andrastian who really wants to join the Chantry. What a tragedy when they all burst into flames. Bwahahahaha.
The dwarf background sounds interesting too, a criminal who everybody begins to think is the herald of Andraste.
OK. Are human female rogue's pants fitting quite correctly...? Ahem.
*awkward snip*
She's....pretty hung.
Noodle-arms! Noodle-arms!It works for the source code, not on the site. : (

Ha. I like it for the opposite reason: playing someone who rebels against the family wishes to send them to the Chantry.
I think I'll end up playing an elf first. They look the most like me (minus pointy ears obvs) and I'm liking the few I've seen created so far.
I was going to do a dalish mage first but I am now thinking of doing a human mage.
I was remembering back in origins the elven mage didn't have nearly as much reaction to her being a mage it was always about her being an elf. Unless they changed that but I can't see how, I could imagine it could be difficult to make the computer recognise and react to both at the same time. So my little elf is going to have to wait, I really want to see how being a mage in charge is going to freak people out lol.
The backgrounds sound great! loads of variety in there. Your quizzys all sound super too ![]()
Sounds ok for my human mage, I'll need to tweek her some though, I wanted to play her as painfully shy, timid and fearful of herself and everyone else, not so sure that works with her training and being sent to the peace conference as a delegate/representative, I would imagine the circle would have sent someone a little more confident and talkative lol.
I'll maybe have to go along the lines of the First Enchanter knowing her and her abilities better than she knows herself and believing this trip would be good for her.
Lots to think about indeed.
I think those are actually little Inquisition pins.
I have no idea as to what you could be referring to..............
Now, could these be little lion faces with their tongues poking out?
Spoiler
Nipple tassles!
Nipple tassles!
LOL as long as they don't end up with dangly feathers or wee chains or.....I'll just stop there ![]()

Hmm, that might be the solution to my human warrior, depends on how much flexibility they give us. The more I think about it, the more reassured I am since we've been told that they wrote it to let people choose where they fell on the religion. Ah, well, she's still not very high on my list so I have plenty of time to work out her story, especially since the Dalish background makes me even more interested in them.

Especially since you run into people in DAO who question whether dwarves are children of the Maker at all.

Hmm, it could work! I mean, the idea that the First Enchanter knows her best and the like is really awesome and still works with that personality you plan, but I get the impression the Human!Mage gets sent there in a group? If that's the case, maybe she just got caught up in that group/taken along and didn't really have it in her to decline/declined but was ignored/wasn't heard?
I'm going to have to rethink my rogue boy a little too, just because he'll need stronger views on the Chantry/Templars now seeing his family has such a close connection to them. I'll also need to consider how close he is to his extended family/how he'll react to how his family apparently get caught up in the blast too.
Hmmm....

Ty, that works, my poor wee mage just gets dragged along in the shuffle, you are right, she wouldn't be brave enough to say "no", brilliant! ty, not so much tweeking atall then lol.
I'm still so new to this, creating personalities, this character is the first time I've ever done it so I may miss some key points.
I think it will be trickier for those of you with close family ties to the blast, much more to consider imo.
I wonder how your rogue would handle it, will he look for someone/something to blame, will he go wild and blame everybody & anything? interesting indeed.

Characters are really fun to think out! Sometimes you can miss key points, but that's not a problem! You start big and then work your way to the small things. Sometimes inspiration for the small things just HITS you too. Out of no where. Just last night I got struck with the thought that 'you know what? I bet my rogue boy REALLY likes feeding the deer that wander onto his family's property.' It doesn't really add anything to the over all story, but just a little character quirk that struck out of no where. ![]()
Given my rogue's personality, he might end up a bit more like my Hawke than I originally planned, just as far as deflecting with humour goes at least. All the humour! ![]()
If it's extended family, though, and family he might not be particularly close to, he might not take it as personally. He'll still be upset about all the loss of life, but if he wasn't CLOSE to them he might not think 'my family, nooooo!'

Yeah, I'm thinking from the way the description was written that the human inquisitor will lose a lot of family in the blast, which opens the way to a lot of possibilities. Even if he/she detested most of those relatives, there are all sorts of possibilities: feeling required to seek vengeance or family members blaming the Inquisitor for surviving, etc. Guilty conscious because you hadn't wanted to be there? And if you did like some of them, the possibilities for crying on someone's shoulder? Especially a tall blond ex-Templar's shoulder (just to keep it on topic)?
Trying to remember why I'm up at this unholy hour... Oh, yeah, the big-a***d spider my daughter saw in the house yesterday and failed to catch either gave me nightmares or something really did crawl across my leg at 3:30 AM.
I hadn't really worked on my character other than her possible reasoning for being there & her interaction with the advisors because I'm pretty sure I'm going human fem!mage and their connection with the chantry.
The background suits pretty well because I had imagined she would of been there with a group of other mages seeking peace. I would say she was a libertarian (not revolutionist) but is pretty sick of the fighting and wants peace but will not concede to going back into the circle... at least not the way it was, maybe self governed with less restrictions.
I could also see for me the human rogue/warrior could go either way, follow family tradition or rebel. Either way, if I play one she'll still have strong family ties and not happy to lose some of them the way they died.
Actually thinking about it, do you think each background would have their own little side quest? or not really play a huge part?

I would personaly be disappointed if there wasn't something in the game to do with the backstories, even if it wasn't a quest. Something where the human has to talk to a relative that wasn't caught in the blast/the parents could be interesting. It would be interesting to deal with the Lavellan clan and the Cadash family/Carta too. And then there's the mercenary band the Qunari was with if there's any survivors..!

There's already been a lot of speculation that the Cadash/Carta connection would be our lyrium connection (especially if we don't want to get too involved with the Chantry), so it would make sense that a dwarven inquisitor would be using their family connections, though that could be anything from someone from the family popping up at Skyhold as a kind of ambassador to a longer side quest, I think.
