I had jotted down some notes about my mage in notepad last week, when you guys helped me understand how to go about the process, it's really amazing how many wee bits and pieces I've added. I've actually grown quite attached to her already, which feels so strange lol.

I struggled mostly with a name for her but settled on one that although its not particularly unusual (its from another game), seems to fit her.

The oddest ditty I added was that because she doesn't speak very much, she jots down her thoughts onto paper, then destroys most of them *shrug* not sure where that came from but you're right, these wee things just seem to pop into mind.

I have a thought, its not going to happen in game obviously but in the early days of their relationship, Cullen finds some of her written down thoughts, he reads them although he knows he probably shouldn't but it gives him huge insight into her personality, so he sees a part of her that nobody else does.

You guys have such rich stories created already, they all sound as if they will be a blast to try portray in game.

Tishina - it must have been the day for it yesterday, same for me, big spider, climbed on the dog, dog jumped, spider fled, bet its waiting to ambush me *shudders*

I was hoping to get a better idea of who might be race gated when the backgrounds were revealed. But the only one that really lends itself to race gating is Sera since she hates nobles.

I honestly don't think they will double gate the same sex only romances. Maybe a bi Solas gated toward dwarves and maybe bi Viv against dwarves and Qunari.
Or, ungated Solas, with Cullen gated against Qunari.

I wonder if they'll let us "discover" the last 2 LI's and the gated ones in game or will actually reveal them prior to release.

I kinda what both... I love a good surprise but I also want to know... like now!

But Cullen's a single sex romance. :P

I don't see why Cassandra and Cullen are any more or less likely to be race gated than Dorian and Sera.

Even if they don't publicly say it, either I or someone else will figure it out earlyand just go ahead and tell the forums, cause I have had it up to here with the marketing team.

Well damn...this threw my entire first Inquisitor background off. My Gale had accidentally burned his family's estate to the ground when he manifested, killing his family.

Crap. This is gonna take some reworking.

It threw all of mine out.

Most likely. Someone with connections will get either the game or the guide first and learn who is what and post it.

Sounds to me as if you're doing pretty well yourself, especially the idea about note-writing which sounds really fun (do you think Cullen would eventually confess?) I'll be interested in hearing where you go with her. I start with an idea for one, then try to imagine her having conversations with the familiar characters like Cullen, Leliana, and Varric and use that to try to build a personality and more individual background.

You have my sympathies, and the dog too. I like spiders, but draw the line at sharing living space with them.

This I have thought of recently since the last trailer and "herald" was mentioned.

For my mage quizzy, she'll believe in the maker but will think Andraste is pretty much BS - she knows she existed but has doubts about her being a prophet etc esp considering how the Chantry uses some of her teachings. If someone quotes "magic is to serve man" she will take offense as it's been used a means to control and subjugate mages instead of letting them be the healers and educators she believes they can be.

I'll rethink it before I play however

Don't think I'm criticising your idea for your Inquisitor, but I just want to ask to get into her head more!

Why would she think Andraste in particular was possibly BS as a prophet opposed to... those who take her teachings and misinterpret them? I mean, with how your mage believes mages can be teachers and healers, that kind of fits into 'magic is to serve man and never rule over him'. It's the Chantry, though, that has taken that to mean 'lock up yo' mages!'.

Maybe an interesting thing to explore with your mage, if it fits her character, of course! Is giving her a completely different take on the Chant of Light that doesn't match up with the Chantry? Sort of like how Leliana believes the Maker still moves in the world around her, opposed to having left his children completely...?

*curious about everyones' characters, must ask all the questions* *A*

So with the new backgrounds revealed, I have another Inquisitor question for you all!

What is your Inquistor/s' views on the Chantry and Maker? :)

Lets see..

Skye Adaar is agnostic, she thinks there is possibility that Maker is there but there is also possibility there isn't Maker. There is so many religions out there so who is to say which one is right one and which one is wrong. She's open to Chantry's teachings but also hates how they are sometimes pushed on people and how Chantry treats mages. She has slightly negative view of chantry.

Valpur Adaar doesn't care about religions. She's not complete atheist but doesn't care nor pray for gods. She thinks Chantry's actions sometimes are good in Thedas to keep order up and things rolling, sometimes Chantry is more like hindrance.

Tamarin Lavellan doesn't believe in Maker but will pretent if it's benefits him. He's intrested in Chantry and how it has so much power in Thedas. He thinks Chantry is for the best as long as it doesn't get in his way.

Michal Trevelyan is very religious and loyal Andrastian. He is devoted to Maker and serving Chantry. He's not complete blind on Chantry's faults but helds it in high regard anyways. He's kinda like Sebastian. After he gets saved from the big blast, gets fade hand and is recruited in Inquisition.. he thinks he's practically second coming of Andraste and will have messiah-complex.

They are all very different XD

Also:

Human Rogue/Warrior

As the youngest child of the Trevelyan noble house, you grew up in the Free Marcher city of Ostwick and have enjoyed a life of privilege. With close family ties to the Chantry, and many relatives among the priesthood and the templars, you were always expected to follow a similar path in service of the Maker—regardless of how you feel about the matter personally. Willing or unwilling, you were sent to the Chantry's conclave to assist relatives who sought to make peace between the templars and mages. It didn't go well.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

My planned Trevelyan is an overprivilaged little dick who steals from other nobles because he's bored-- and his folks wanted him to serve the Maker and Templars/Chantry? I (and he) will have a field day with this!

I do love that the human is the youngest too. It might not work for everyone, and I'm sorry if it upsets anyone's characters, but it works perfectly for my boy!

That background is perfect for my human rogue! I wanted to play as the upstart the snobby family is always rolling their eyes at. :D The Chantry and Templars connections just makes it even more delicious! I canNOT wait to get started!

Oooo, I'm loving these.

Gale is a pretty devout Andrastian, though, like the Imperial Chantry, believes Andraste was just a very powerful mage. Gale considers himself on the spiritual end of Andrastianism, easily able to adapt his views as he learns more and more about the world. One of Gale's favorite things to do is to sing hymns from Chant.

Because someone at some point and time thought it was funny to equate being on bended knee to propose marriage with being shot in that joint? Lol! :D

Though I do wonder why there are so many negative analogies to marriage ending the more adventurous phase of a person's life. Hmm...

It's hard to explain without sounds like an idiot. But it's more her anger is directed at Andraste as they're her words even though the Chantry has in her view twisted it... it's superficial at best but she'll probably start out that way. I suspect she'll develop and change her view on it... but at first her outlet will be directed at Andraste (and probably because being in a circle it was much easier to be angry at what the Chantry held up as the ideal/model instead of each individual she met)

I don't know if that makes sense, especially because her take on it is that mages should be the healers and educators for everyone regardless of class etc Plus I hold a view that people aren't very logical and it's not very logical lol

I'm still thinking about and will probably change a lot considering the amount of time before release date.

I will consider your advise :)

EDIT: I am wondering for circle mage background as well what position they held when in the circle, for example, enchanter or senior enchanter? I don't think they'll be a first enchanter thought
