So playing around a bit in my head (it's like Wonderland, only crazier I suppose), I was like what if the big bad just wants all the happy's on Thedas, like the Grinch!  Maybe he's bothered by all the Thedosians singing Satinalia tunes or some such (yes, I am wierd).  Anyhow, I was looking around, and I stumbled across this gem... because it seemed pertinent...

I'll have to look it up - I stopped playing after I got some characters killed due to my horrible reflexes and indecisiveness. I really didn't have the heart to go on (you lied, Celine Dion!) or even to restart.

So, I like Cullen's little tongue thing.  It looks a bit to me like he's going to drink a bowl of milk....good kitty.

 

I'm still answering the character questions.  This has been a really cool exercise and really helped me flesh out who my Quizzy is and what motivates her - normally i just sort of work it out in my head but writing it down to explain to others has really crystallized the process this time and I feel made her much more concrete to me .  

 

Here's what I've got now.

What is your Inquistor/s' views on the Chantry and Maker?

The Chantry is the embodiment of the Makers will on Thedas.  The evils unfolding in the world now are the direct result of the rejection of its dictates.  To save the world the Chantry must be restored and those that deny its teachings destroyed.

 

How are they going to react to be thrown into the position of power? 

She is the herald of Andraste.  She has been chosen to serve the Maker and restore his Chantry.  A rebellious child forgiven and elevated to greatness and she will not fail.

 

If given the chance to grab something before having to leave, what could your quizzy not be without?

 

 My Quizzy would take nothing.  Andraste will provide for her needs and guide her.

 

What is the worst thing that could happen in very early game that would throw your backstory for a loop?

 

I suppose it would be difficult to reconcile doubt with the character I’m creating.  My character is looking for personal redemption by restoring the status quo.  She has no doubt about what must be accomplished and who is responsible for the current catastrophe.  However, I feel I understand her enough at this point to be able to work around most situations and create a plausible explanation for any obviously ill fitting dialogue options or expressions. 

 

I’ve already had to adapt her to account for her joining with the mages who separated from the Chantry and it made her a richer character to me.  I now feel she has a sense that her personal rejection of the Circle was responsible for the chaos.  It makes her more complex and allows me to reconcile a certain brutality with her character.  Simply put she can’t live with herself unless order is restored; psychologically she is operating out of a mixture of self aggrandizement and overwhelming guilt.  I think this combination will make her an extremely dangerous person to have in charge of anything.  I rather intrigued to find out what she will be capable of.

 

I’m going to try and work a Cullen romance in under ‘cked up authority figure issues – a sort of desire for affection from those who historically have held authority type of thing……...poor ba*******……RUN CULLEN RUN!

I'm too tired to even contemplate all the wonderful questions I've seen. But they're awesome! Gosh, I wish I had more time to hang around! So... lovely screenies of our favorite Knight.   I'm glad to see the stubble. It's a small thing but I associate it with him so... And it appears he still has an impressive jawline.   I was beginning to wonder since it was hard to see clearly in the trailer. Cullen doesn't have a triangular face, I tell you! *shakes fist*

 

Um... and is it me, or does Cullen have some resemblance to Greg? Especially the shape of the eyes? Or is it just me?

So with the new backgrounds revealed, I have another Inquisitor question for you all!

 

What is your Inquistor/s' views on the Chantry and Maker?

Ohhhhh. Delphine's got beef.

 

So my rogue believes in Andraste and the Maker, but she hates the Chantry. Actually, one of the things that I'm starting to discover about her is that one of her running themes is "conflict vs. resolve", in that she's conflicted about basically everything due to her sheltered upbringing, but once she makes a decision or chooses a side she'll stick with it. (Even if she's still conflicted about it. Sometimes I want to shake her a bit.)

 

A part of her hatred for the Chantry is some resentment from being pushed in that direction by her family-- she's the youngest, so she sees herself as "Not even a spare. Just an extra. A mistake, even." She's old enough to know that they mean well, but she also feels like they're just trying to get rid of her so as to not cause trouble within the family regarding inheritance. She doesn't want to be a Sister or a Mother of the Chantry, and while she may have toyed with the idea of becoming a Templar when she was younger, she doesn't want to be that either. Another part of her hatred for the Chantry is due to how they treat the Templars and the Mages. She's already lost one of her uncles to lyrium addiction, and once she found out that the Chantry controls the lyrium trade she put two and two together. She also doesn't approve of how the Chantry instills a sense of "divine right and rule" over the mages. One of her older siblings and a few of her cousins have been taken away as mages, and she saw how much differently the family treated them once their magic manifested and felt awful about it, but didn't know what to do about it. At the same time though, she also sees the need for the Templars, and is pro-Circle. She just doesn't think that the Chantry should be the one overseeing all of them.

 

And finally, most of her aversion to the Chantry comes from their deep entwinement in politics. She thinks that if they aren't corrupt now, then they definitely will be, and distrusts how they seem to have a say in all of the major powers in the world, even when it should have nothing to do with them. She feels as though her own family won't do or decide anything without approval from the Chantry first, and this worries her a lot. She thinks that there should be a separation of Church and State, basically. 

 

However, she still believes in Andraste and the Maker. She's spent most of her life surrounded by Chantry doctrine, after all, and the lessons and ideals are hard to shake despite her disillusionment with the Chantry itself. She thinks the Chant is beautiful as well, and will sometimes hum it under her breath if she thinks she's alone, or when she's praying in private.

Would they really not know about the Maker/Chantry and have an opinion on it? I mean the Dalish Clans we've seen before at least teach their history, how Andraste helped them even though she was a prophet to a God they didn't believe in, and what the Chantry/Humans have done to them in the name of their God in the past. I imagine they would have an opinion on that? Even if they believe the past is the past and that human and elves need to learn to live beside one another before things can become peaceful?

 

I believe I remember you saying Auren starts his journey fairly racist towards humans? I imagine those views are built on experiences and history, yes?

 

What would they think of being sent to the peace talk as spies, according to the backgrounds we've just learnt about?

She isn't sure if it'll work. There are too many factions, too much anger and too much tension. She gets dragged along thinking that the whole peace talk will just backfire into everyone's faces... she just didn't think it would happen literally.   

 

 

 

Another two questions for your quizzys:

My mage is going to have to have plenty clean and fresh small clothes in her backpack for sure, gawds, she is going to be awful at making decisions lol, she'll always seek reassurance that she did good.

 

If given the chance to grab something before having to leave, what could your quizzy not be without?

 

My mage will try and take her writing book, she doesn't have anything else that she would especially miss.

 

 

My rogue is going to be really uncomfortable about it. She had all the same lessons in politics and leadership that her older siblings did, but she never thought that she'd ever actually have to use it. She's used to just kind of fading into the background, so suddenly being brought into the front and center of everything and everyone makes her very uncomfortable. After she gets over the initial shock (and offense at being locked up and called a murderer) she truly wants to help the Inquisition, but would rather do it from behind the scenes.

 

And if she had the chance to grab something before having to leave... the raggedy stuffed wolf plush that she's had since she was a baby, that her mother gave to her. She brings it with her everywhere and tucks it into her clothing or armour for luck.
