Meanie, picking on my boys lol I'll have to answer this at work tomorrow since it's too hard on iPad.

I'm sorry! I asked other people to elaborate too, so don't worry!

If it's a hassle, you don't have to worry about answering! I just like getting to know everyone's characters. I'm a character nut~ :)

All the answers to questions about your Inquisitor's beliefs and such got me thinking about mine... but rather than Andrastianism and the Chantry, I started thinking about how my Qunari Inquisitor would think about the Qun, and how that might impact a relationship with the Iron Bull.  :?

Actually, there's a question to all Dwarf/Elf Inquisitors!

What do they think of this spying business?

And a question to all Inquisitors:

What do they think of the peace talk?

Aralan would do his best to fulfill the task his Keeper has assigned him, though he's used to his prey having four feet and moving through forests.   He's hoping it doesn't require talking to anyone, and just looking nondescript once he gets there.

As for the peace talk itself, he has little idea what, if anything, they will accomplish.  His job is to learn all he can about the participants, not anticipate the results.

Elke has been a negotiator most of her adult life.  Though usually the conflicts she tries to resolve are more along the line of property line disputes, she feels confidence the conclave might at least start a peace process, though she doubts everything will be resolved in one go.  She also looks forward to seeing some of the family she hasn't seen in a while. ( *sniffles for her impending loss*)

Sasani is crazy nervous, and more than half afraid it is a trap, but she doesn't want to live life being hunted, and this seems her best chance to prove she doesn't deserve to be.  If her presence can be of any help, then she'll be there.  If it works, maybe she can write a book documenting the historic occasion.  Surely such a history would deserve to reside in every library from Tevinter to..errr...but she's getting ahead of herself.  First - survive.  Right.

Zhenya is carta, she'd have no problem with spying, though as a warrior she might not think she is the best choice. As far as the peace talks themselves, I think she'd have mixed feelings. Presumably, both templars and mages would want the lyrium the carta has to offer which means business should be good, and having the chantry back in control of the two sides would cut into that, but civil unrest and war has too much chance of spilling over to people outside the templars and mages. While she may have been born to the business, so to speak, she doesn't like to see people hurt unnecessarily.

To answer my own question for my rogue boy:

Hmm, this is a bit of a harder question for me just because of what it involves...

My rogue boy doesn't want to acknowledge the Chantry when he doesn't have to and he doesn't care to have opinions on the mages, but he does understand how this war needs to end. Sort of. It's not that he's unsympathetic, just that he doesn't see why the issue needs to involve him

He's there because it's another Chantry thing his family has pushed him into and because he has family there he apparently has to carry things for or some rubbish like that. He doesn't really know. He was too busy toning people out when he was told what he would be doing.

Whether or not peace can actually happen? It would be nice but he doesn't really have an opinion on that, either. It doesn't really involve him. He's not a mage and he's not a Templar, despite what his family have planned for him.

A really well done prompt, detailing what Solas sees in each of the companions'/advisors' dreams:

  • Solas knows what Cole really looks like in the Fade.  When his spirit is restless, Solas knows how to sooth him with the soft hum of a tune only they know.
  •  The nightmares of the taint are vicious, and Solas knows the Calling is soon.  Each night Solas guides Blackwall through his personal hell.  Ushering him through until the darkness of his dreams turns to images of long lost family.
  • Vivienne and Solas enjoy tea and the quiet solemnity of her mind in the fade.  That is where they discuss what advice they should offer the Inquisitor and pointedly debate the politics of elves and mages.
  • Varric dreams of blood and the screams of a burning Kirkwall, when they are all pulled into the fade.  Solas knows that his help is not always welcome here, so he takes the form of Varric’s friend Hawke.  Together they pull through the rubble, and for a moment Solas feels what it is like to be a hero.
  • Dorian’s fade is interesting, always darker than he thought the man would visualize.  He dreams of dragons and blood.  Sometimes he is close to indulging, other times he stands in silence from his own fears.  Solas does his best to keep him company in those moments of silence.  He often finds the face of the Inquisitor is more welcome than his own.
  • Solas keeps away the bad men in Sera’s dreams.  He allows her to assume her childlike form and truly enjoy her childhood, even it is only in her dreams.
  • Solas enjoys Cassandra’s dreams most.  She dreams of heroes and heroines, princes and true love, in a way that only someone with so much hope can.  In her dreams he is only ever a spectator.  When her suitor comes in reality, Solas will ensure he meets her dream’s expectations.
  • Iron Bull is something different in the fade.  He dreams of blood and disappointment.  There he carries a different name, and he does not acknowledge the things he has fallen in love with in reality.  Solas has tried to offer him escape, a reprieve, but Iron Bull never falters.  In his dreams, his loyalty never waivers.
  • Leliana sees the Archdemon almost as much as Blackwall when she drifts away.  The fear is so poignant here, Solas must keep the demons at bay.  He does not know her well, but the burden she bears is great and Solas understood the need for a friend in the darkness.
  • Josephine’s is a ball.  She feels free when she dances and is spun round and round.  Sometimes Solas is her dance partner, and for a brief moment he feels the fleeting glee of a perfect spin.
  • Cullen carries a heavy burden.  Once the demons have wormed their way in, it is incredibly difficult to keep them out.  Solas can’t keep these images at bay, too difficult to discern which are real.  So instead Solas pulls Cullen into a happy memory when the weight becomes too much.  Sometimes it is one of Cullen’s, other times it is one of Solas’.  This is a gift he has only ever shared with a few.
  • The Inquisitor is special. They walked into his Fade, waltzing in as if they had always been there.  Solas had always built walls around his home in the Fade, yet he was comfortable letting the Inquisitor stay.  The Inquisitor mostly rested there, searching for silence in the storm.  Sometimes they would silently cry in his lap, other times hum a tune and splash their feet in a small creek at the border of his territory.  There the Inquisitor was allowed to see more of him than any other.  They never spoke of it when they woke, but Solas knew they remembered.  It was nice, actually, to have someone that truly understood him there in the Fade.  Was this what love is?

Actually, thinking along that line, there are two groups who don't dream - dwarves and the Tranquil. Why doesn't it have a negative effect on dwarves? Varric certainly has no shortage of creativity or imagination, for instance.

Lack of emotion, lack of creativity, lack of imagination, lack of free will, yes.

Hmm...

I assume it's to do with the difference in how it happens more than 'you have no connection to the fade'? Tranquil Mages are made by branding the forehead with lyrium. I'm not sure we know the DETAILS of that brand?

While Dwaves have become like they are over generations and exposure to natural lyrium. It's more of a natural evolution? mutation? with the dwarves.

Except the Dwarves of the Primeval Thaig were doing stuff that apparently couldn't have been done without magic. And they were near all sorts of lyrium, red and blue.

I think the dwarven race was magically attacked in such a way as to remove the magical abilities of their people, and it moves through the blood, denying them their power. The lyrium thing probably sped up the process in all honesty, severing them from the Fade forever.

What would they think of being sent to the peace talk as spies, according to the backgrounds we've just learnt about?

My racist as hell, pro-Dalish Lavellan doesn't really understand why the Keeper thinks the FILTHY SHEM conclave is so important, but she agrees to the scouting mission... mainly because the Keeper knows just how to stroke her ego to get what she wants: "You're the only one I can trust with this!"

I definitely wouldn't be surprised if we found out dwarves could be mages once upon a time. Also wouldn't be surprised if they were also the strongest out of all the races too.  :P

What do they think of this spying business?

And a question to all Inquisitors:

What do they think of the peace talk?

For a Dwarfquisitor who I might initially play as being slightly amoral and a willing participant in the Cadash Crime Family they were born into, I doubt that he'd actually care two figs for the peace and actually kind of hopes that the conflict will go on for a long time, simply because you can supply lyrium to either side and no-one ever went broke selling weapons in a war. They're there as a spy simply because they want to find the next big score.

(Then after the Breach occurs and they're roped into the Inquisition, they'll gradually have a character transformation to actually starting to wanting to help others for no selfish reasons and come to regret the rather dubious things they'll likely do at the start of the game.)

For a Dalishquisitor, she'll probably be of two minds about the entire thing, since on the one hand, she'll not care if the Shemlen Chantry is actively destroying itself, feeling it as long overdue karma for the Exalted March against the Dales, but on the other hand, she doesn't want to see her own people getting roped into the mixture. If spying can give her people some new insight into the conflict, or just places to run to that aren't going to become a warzone anytime soon, she'll gladly do her part.

(Although if she's a Mage, she'll probably be a little peeved at her Keeper for taking an extreme liberty with her life by sending her into a location filled with Templars, Seekers and Mages who might immediately scream "Maleficar" at the sight of her. Also, she'll wonder how anyone is not going to notice all the tattoos?)
