I'm excited to finally get tactical view as a console player. I might even start fiddling with tactics, beyond making Fenris target mages and Anders target warriors.
You don't use the tactics screen?! I am disappointed in you!!!!

Is that tactical view (overhead view) or the screen where you order the companions to do stuff in battle?
I never used either one... well one because I played on xbox, but the second because I just paused and played all my characters when on hard.
Well, with Varric as an Artificer, I'm most definitely keeping him in my party with that Fallback Plan spell fully upgraded.
He is?
I'm terrible like that, I go flying in there completely unprepared and die 50+ times before I remember I can use tactics, lol. Even as a Mage I'm going in there guns blazing getting my arse kicked, when I know for well I'm supposed to keep back and fight from a distance. Thank the Maker for the Knight Enchanter specialisation!
Lol, I'm the EXACT same way! In Da2 some idiots kept getting in my face so after a while I was like "HELL NO!" So after that my mage came in swinging his staff and knocking off heads...or burning them off, depends on the foe XD So even though I am supposed to stay back, I always go after all of them...well besides dragons...and giants...I kill little fools not big ones, I'm not THAT suicidal.
He is?
They specifically mention Fallback Plan being a "gadget", which fits with the Artificer description. They also mention that the Inquisitor can also learn such an ability.
Artemis
Yeah, NO!
There is tactical view which is the overhead camera. You scroll out and you can see the whole battlefield and pause and plan stuff.
The tactics screen is an option in the companions menu. You go in a basically are given a whole set of different actions to take under different circumstances. Then your companions will 'if x then y' themselves through the game for you. It is the most awesome feature ever and you HAVE to try it out.
In DAO you had to select tactics as a skill and spend points to unlock more slots (which was annoying and stupid and everyone on the PC just modded it so they got way more slots and options upfront - I think it's called the Advanced Tactics Mod and really it is THE BEST MOD EVER!!!!
DA2 pretty much replicated the mod and as such was a great addition to the game.
I don't know what they're doing for DAI but I hope it's pretty much the same or they give us MOAR options because of FUN!

Well yea, we always learn the specializations ![]()
But I remember the devs saying we don't learn them from companions this time

Varric could have a version of it, and Dagna teaches it.

Well as long as he doesn't have the actual spec itself, I'll be content at best lol ![]()
I just hope Cassandra or Blackwall doesn't get the Templar spec

AH! OH MY GAWD!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Cass or Cullen, methinks.

I think it'd be Cass, out of the two. I think Blackwall has Champion.

Meh, I hope atleast a couple of the companions get a unique one. They did use Cole as an example in the raptr Q&A
Cole had some assassin looking combat icons.Meh, I hope atleast a couple of the companions get a unique one. They did use Cole as an example in the raptr Q&A

The tactics screen.
Seriously though Tactics is one of the best things Dragon Age besides the companions. I would spend hours tweaking my allies and looking up ways to make them more competent in battle. I'm very happy that the tactical view is in the console version of Inquisition, I can now use abilities that I couldn't use because the tactic slots were full.
Cole should unlock a being creepy specialization tree. ![]()

Oh okay, yes, I did do that in DA2 but I found it pretty tedious
Like I said, I just prefer to pause and navigate from character to character. Fenris is the worst though; he loves ignoring my commands and doing something else.

He's not creepy!! He hasn't even been creepy in any of the trailers/demos.
I think he will be assassin, Sera is tempest, Varric is artificer.
Cass will be templar, Blackwall champion, Bull reaver.
Less sure with the mages... thinking Viv is knight enchanter, Dorian is necro, Solas is rift.

I miss the DA2 route with specializations ![]()
Edit: Actually some of the DA2 companion specs used the same images from the others too
