Is it possible that one of the non-tainted gods has been woken up in a darkspawn-independent manner (by Cory or the Venatori) and is now the Elder one?

Maybe Corypheus just found any old dragon and performed some sort of blood ritual to summon Dumat's spirit and allow it to possess it? Thus becoming a living Old God again?

That would be fun, if he was a fraud... like, maybe he can just shape shift into a Dragon, like Flemeth can and that's what he's up to. Certainly explains why the Venatori seem to be all for it, they think he's an old god, lol.

That would be cool. I guess since DG has said they'll never really explain away the gods and faith in DA, that I expect there will continue to be mysteries in the ancient lore... meaning that confusion and obfuscation will continue to be tools for the antagonists. Like, I would expect Dumat is really dead, but the sneaky Dumat shrine you can use in Legacy was a cool touch. Was it real? Or was it memorex?  Doubt we'll ever really know.

I'm going to assume the Elder One is something new.   I think the dragon in the trailer was a red herring.

Now this is the sort of thing I could see happening. Something that, even at the end, after you've won the day and figured everything out... you still wonder, "was that reeeallly Dumat?"

If anything, my money was on Flemeth being an aspect of Razikale.

Like, it's spirit whilst wandering the Fade found Flemeth waaaay back in the day when she was near death or whatever it was and the two merged? Kinda like Justice/Anders Cole/whatever demon he is, lol.

I always go back to Flemeth's line, "Perhaps I am a dragon". That line really struck a chord with me. She's some kind of dragonic deity. I had always wondered...what if she's the reverse of what she appears? What if she doesn't transform from human to dragon, but from her true form of a dragon into a human? Perhaps she is a dragon deity that learned how to transform into a human shape?

Oh man, not to derail the discussion you guys are having (I'm about to go back and try to catch up on what that is in a moment) but I just woke up from a dream about DA:I. It was so weird.

 

The game came out and I finished it in like a day. I was so disappointed with it. I can't remember the details of the game itself, just that Leliana and Morrigan were there for about a second and pretty much everything they were showing us was a lie. Last thing I remember was making a Qunari character for my 2nd playthrough and thinking "Ugh even DA2 took me longer than one day to complete" The strangest part was that in my dream I went online to read reviews and everyone was giving it a 10/10 lol. I'm getting those 'close to game release' nerves!

I bet you're on to something here... I don't think it's a coincidence that we always see her shifting into dragon form.

Varric not LI is confirmed : / I'm rooting for Solas to take last male LI place so not big thing for me but I wouldn't have minded of romancing Varric either. I guess he will stay just a bro this time too.

Perhaps by "Elder One", it means that is one the progenitors of the Dragons. However, maybe given Flemeth's role in reawakening the dragons, the Queen of which is currently running around Thedas, our shapeshifting friend is the First Dragon?
