"Inquisitor! Is there something you need?" Why yes, yes there is Cullen. :]
Mwahaha. I like Liz so much.

It's a tiny bit unnerving how happy I am to hear/read one of his lines, even one as generic as that...
So I have been playing Dragon Age 2 and talked with Cullen...even though he thinks lowly of mages, some of the things he says rang true in some ways...
And not meaning to go off-topic...but I seem to be finding myself liking Anders a lot again...

It does ring true, doesn't it? His tone is harsh and unforgiving, but mages are technically 'not people like you and me.' It's why we need Thedas Hogwarts!
I like Anders. ![]()
Oh, almost forgot!Inquisitor Question TimeA lighter question this time! Everyone has certain tasks, studies, family unions, things they find tedious and boring. What completely kills your Inquisitor's enthusiasm (that has nothing to do with fighting undead and listening to over-dramatic villains with a God Complex)?
Zhenya Cadash runs from anything vaguely like housekeeping, discussions of religion and mysticism, and people with no sense of humor. She and Sera will probably join forces to puncture anyone with an over-inflated idea of their importance.
For the Trevelyan mage I'm trying to develop for Cullen (still haven't picked a name for her), she hates a sterile environment (definitely will find plants and pets in her bedroom) and cruel people, and finds people with no curiosity boring.

Sigh...Anders had good intentions, but I will never agree with the way he executed his beliefs. He threw Kirkwall straight into hell and provoked an Annulment on the innocent mages of that Circle. Every life that died that day was a consequence of his provoking Meredith. Granted, Meredith was crazy, but he helped drive her over the edge much quicker.

Also answering the questions from Sunday:
Inquisitor Question Time
Already forced into a situation where they have to lead an organisation with historical roots and that many once feared, I'm certain that might wear on the nerves of even the hardiest soldier. How does your Inquisitor deal with stress and uneasy situations when they're also forced to keep a brave face for their leadership role? Do they become more terse and short with their fellows? Do they deflect with humour? Do they grow quiet and hope that their companions will mistake silent panic for quiet concentration?
Bonus:
If their reactions were different before they were forced to be a leader, how did they react to stress and uneasy situations before the Inquisition? And how do they swallow that natural reaction so they can pretend they're a strong leader now? Do they bother to pretend?
Bonus bonus:
Every leader has their breaking point, when things become too much, how would they calm down their nerves after a particularly grueling confrontation?
Elke, human noble of calm confidence
Aralan, dalish elf of grumpiness
Sasani, human mage of panicked questions

I am also replaying DA2 atm, Hawke has found herself in the Gallows spam-clicking Cullen more times than she probably should lol Even although she is a mage, she pretty much agrees with him.
I only romanced Anders once, it's not for me, however, he is still friended each pt, I like him too, don't agree with his extreme action though
"He's no demon, just a deeply troubled man" ![]()
My mage hates housework/tidying up, she'll leave shoes & such at her backside, she prefers things in a guddle. Having to do chores like laundry bores her to absolute tears, not wanting to stink is about all that forces her to wash her clothing.
On the rare occasion she is in company, if the conversation comes around to fashion, hair etc, she is outta there, she can't even pretend to be interested in it.
Anders is awesome.
*sigh* Don't get me started. I could easily talk about this subject way too much. ![]()

I think I've romanced him... maybe three times? I usually play mages or rogues who either don't care or are fully supportive of him... cause I'm a romantic sap xD

My canon Hawke romanced him... because I like making things painful for that poor boy. ![]()
someone in #cullen tag on tumblr wrote this beautiful post about the change in his character since dao, how events of 2 previous games has changed his point of view on some things about the "war" between mages and templars. people like this, strenghten my love for cullen even more ;3;
"Cullen is a great character because he’s changed and grown so much and he’s just a minor character. He started out as a man who felt sorry for mages. He knew the system was messed up, probably felt like he wanted to change it but was in no position. He was just a man doing his job. And he watched mages that he NEVER suspected to be blood mages turn out to be blood mages. Like these were probably people he SAW every day, maybe even spoke to and had pleasant conversations with, considered friendly acquaintances. And they slaughtered everyone he cared about and knew, they tortured him with demons and abominations for who KNOWS how long before the Warden showed up[...]"
"[...]He wanted to believe that the templars were right, he wanted to believe what they were doing was right, he wanted to believe in Meredith but when you watch innocent people get abused everyday, even people that you thought you could never trust, you begin to question and reassess[...]"
http://fenrispenris....use-hes-changed (beware of the autoplay x])
ohhh how i wish writers could include something like that in his character ;u;
My biggest caveat with Anders, other than the whole Chantry explosion, is how cruel he was to Merrill. He harped on her blood magic, but he's the idiot who let himself be possessed by a spiritual entity, now demon.
I`m a bit late but Happy Birthday CuriousArtemis
!!!!

^This.^ While I do find the character model attractive, this is why I'm so enthused about having him as an adviser, ally, and potential love interest in game.

I think the Chantry's teachings are partly to blame for that-- which makes things rather interesting. Where the Dalish see them as all spirits and all spirits can be dangerous, the Chantry teaches a very, very black and white demons = bad, spirits = good point of view.
Merrill sees blood magic as just another tool-- a dangerous one, but still a tool. Anders was taught blood magic = evil. Only evil people use blood magic.
Not to say how he treated Merrill was right, mind! It's just interesting to analyse where such things come from in characters.

Oh, I can understand. But still, letting yourself be possessed by an spirit is as big of a no no as blood magic. My point was that Anders just didn't have any excuse to be acting high and mighty over Merrill.

his looks is just an "additional bonus", sort of an eye-candy to please the ladies (tho i have to admit, as an artist i greatly enjoy staring at beautiful people)
but the character development and background story is what makes him such of a much-anticipated character to interact with ;u;

It's interesting that he hates the Chantry so much but has completely absorbed their teachings on blood magic.....I like Anders (sans bombing) and reckon most of his opinions are well-founded, but he can be a massive hypocrite too.
