I would say take Anders too, I never leave him behind any more.
My Hawke is a healing mage, who didn't exactly get along with Anders. Total rivals, those two. No, Fenris made my Hawke promise he'd never adventure without him, actually. And Hawke wouldn't break that promise.
Pretty sure Legacy will be playing a huge, huge part in DAI. The fact we saw Hawke in the trailer along with some strange warden seems to indicate that the happenings of Legacy are a pretty big deal, anyway. I'd definitely play it through a time or two. And take Varric along with you, too. Lots of nifty dwarf stuff he learns along the way.
Mark of the Assassin was purely fun, too. I loved every bit of it, and the armor Hawke picks up made him look dashing.

Josephine: Lifetime supply of blood-red ink.
Vivienne: A mirror that's one of those fun-house ones that makes her look like a dwarf.
Leli: A spare murder knife that whistles innocently when taken out of its scabbard.
Blackwall: One (free) coupon for a grooming down at the local Bark n' Bubbles. Actually make that one and a spare.
Dorian: The razor was a good one
Varric: A smut novel about a dwarf cavorting with a seeker.
Iron Bull: A pair of socks to keep his horns warm
Solas: Halloween hair piece that starts talking right as he's falling asleep
