I've run both, the flirt dialogue is exactly the same for elf or human mage, as well as the convo additions later during Broken Circle.

Cullen doesn't really 'flirt'. It's more awkward adorable wanting to be able to just talk to you more... while the female mage can be a total and utter creep.

He hadn't gotten to that point in the game yet either. I was just like O_O thinking he said he was going to romance Sera with more intent than he had actually placed in that tweet.

I doubt Sera would be race gated towards dwarves, anyway. In fact I don't think Sera will be gated at all, personally.

I doubt Sera would be race gated towards dwarves, anyway. In fact I don't think Sera will be gated at all, personally. 

 

She's not that big on humans maybe? I'm betting someone doesn't romance humans, so they can motivate people to pick other races, while still keeping true to the character's motivations.

I know a lot of people on the forums are speculating that Cullen is one of the race-gated LIs, but... he's not only gated by gender, but even if there's no class-gating, a mage character will presumably at least have to work a little harder. Throw in race restrictions on top of it, and it seems like the pool of people who could romance him just based on gating is significantly reduced.. and then you still have to manage to get his approval.

 

I very well may be proven wrong, but it seems odd to make him a love interest at all if it was going to be so limited. For that reason alone I would think Cullen may not be limited by race.

I don't think he's race-gated. I don't think any of of the six confirmed LIs are race-gated. Cullen and Cassandra are straight, Dorian and Sera are gay, but that's it.

Maybe Vivienne is gated to humans because she wants to marry into nobility and maybe Solas is gated to elves because that's a cultural thing among elves.

To be fair to Cullen, I don't think we can rightly judge his views on dwarves when what he said was while he was stuck in a pink cage, after he had been tortured for Maker knows how long, and after Oghren acts like a cave dwelling heathen. Cullen says absolutely nothing racist to a dwarf!Warden.
