I was starting to feel like I was!
I'm still not in either.

Cullen doesn't really 'flirt'. It's more awkward adorable wanting to be able to just talk to you more... while the female mage can be a total and utter creep.
(Goddamn it, keyboard. Stop adding random 'e's to things.)
and i like this part the most, or i'm just secretly a creep, who likes to embarrass young, "inexperienced" templars x3
Yeah, I can only see possible human gating because of the noble thing, but that would still seem kind of weird.
"You have proven yourself really kind to the people I care about! You've helped all those less fortunate! But you were still born a noble so gross."
Especially when being a noble has nothing to do with race (dwarves can be nobles to and in some parts elves in Tevinter if they are born with magic), it has to do with status/class in society, if this was the case it would be class gating and not race gating, also if she is going to be gated against humans for being a noble she might as well be gated against a dalish elf since she hates nature. Also the human mage wasn't raised as a noble and won't know what its like to be a noble
Cullen has stated how he feels about dwarves and qunari, although I suppose that could have changed over time. I just feel like he's one of the ones to be race-gated.
To be fair to Cullen, I don't think we can rightly judge his views on dwarves when what he said was while he was stuck in a pink cage, after he had been tortured for Maker knows how long, and after Oghren acts like a cave dwelling heathen. Cullen says absolutely nothing racist to a dwarf!Warden.
Also I think he has only said his opinions about Qunari in Kirkwall who were serious threat to Kirkwall and are also threat to chantry. Our qunaris are Tal-Vashoths in DAI so I hope that Cullen realises that ^^;
What? It does not rhyme with Magellan? How is it pronounced? Shoot!!
No Keep invite for me. I'll probably be the last one in.
It's possible he does know in this particular case, I just wouldn't take it as gospel is all.
Naw, the last one in will be me.
No, I'm a member of the unloved majority too.
I want to feel rejected and despised but you know that had over 100,000 applicants already so really I don't think it's personal.
LOL Yeah, I was gonna say. You, me, and the other tens of thousands of people who also didn't get into the beta. It's just around the corner now! I reckon this just means I get to see it all shiny and perfect!
On the race-gating, I could see Cullen going either way. But, to be honest, given that the devs have repeatedly stated that "it makes sense for the story," I can't help but think that there's got to be more story that we haven't seen yet about whoever the two race-gated LIs are. So, in Cullen's case, I don't think we've seen an actually good story reason yet, for the reasons that have been mentioned. He *could* have issues with non-Andrastians based on the few comments he's made, but that doesn't count as a good story-based reason in my book.
So that being said, I doubt we have enough information upon which to worry, since we don't know any of their stories yet.
Yeah, I agree. The only one with a possible good story reason so far is Vivienne, but it's really up in the air.

I have to also add, just because you're human doesn't make you an Andrastian automatically.
Excluding Tevinter, there has to be other humans who aren't and I don't intend to angle my mage quizzy as one
I've given up on a dragonkeep invite.
I'll get to see it soon enough and to be honest it will probably just add to my frustration of having to wait til November to play
I'm still worried that writer will base Cullen's romance options to DAO. He was there into female elf and human only. Of cource there was no option for dwarf nor qunari mage for player but they could make that decision still because it?

I wonder how they'd justify it though. It'd have to be a story reason and not a technical reason. Is it because they can be Mages? Well so can Qunari. Is it because they're Andrastian? Rules out the Dalish. I can't think of other reasons.

I don't believe they will... with all his character development from DAO I find it difficult to imagine them sticking to human & elf. With no exposure to dwarf or qunari in DAO, it's hard to judge whether or not he would be attracted to them... I'm hoping just because they weren't there doesn't mean he has a lack of interest in them.
I tend to see him as someone who will be attracted to an individual based on their personality & who they are, not the race they belong to (hopefully I'm right!)
EDIT: I am aware however that in reality, sometimes you cannot help who you are/aren't attracted to, I'm just hoping that this isn't the case with Cullen cause I cannot imagine him rejected someone purely because they are/aren't a particular race. And if he is, there better be a bloody good explanation behind it.

Well yea I wonder the story-reasons too, I don't think his comments about Oghren and Kirkwall's Qunari necessarily mean that he dislikes all dwarves and qunaris ^^; I'm just afraid that Cullen is easy pick for race-restricted but I guess I need to stay positive that he will like my qunari ^^
Exactly this. A "preference" is not a story reason. If there is a reason, we haven't seen it yet. It's been three years since we last met Cullen. Who knows how many reasons he might have picked up in the interim. But the same can be said for any of the characters, new and returning.I wonder how they'd justify it though. Although I don't know for sure, my opinion is that there will not be hard gating on race with Cullen, but that a non-Andrastian, anti-Andrastian or someone with extreme views on the mage-templar conflict are likely to have a more difficult time getting the necessary approval score.
We'll see, though.
...There should be a koosh ball at the end with just Cullen's face barely visible
Now this is in my head. I can't get it out. ![]()
Ha! I like that his fuzzy pauldrons just get larger as I scroll down. There should be a koosh ball at the end with just Cullen's face barely visible
This will actually be important to the plot, as it'll be revealed that the Warden and Hawke have been hiding in Cullen's pauldrons all this time.

Sonuva--
I have been lost on HurricaneGinger's tumblr for entirely too long. ![]()
Huh, I just noticed on the Dragon Age timeline that Andraste was the one to introduce the Maker to mankind in -186 Ancient, rather than it being a pre-established cult that she popularised... so there were thousands of years of Elvenkind worshipping the Creators and Tevinters worshipping the Old Gods, before this mysterious "Maker" showed up and then promptly disappeared again?
Suddenly, I'm not so sure if the Elder One was lying or not during his "A God Am I" speech? ![]()
So, my question for everyone is: If the Maker does indeed turn out to be a lie, how do you think this will affect our more religious characters, like Leliana, Cassandra and Cullen? Will they be afraid, confused, angry?
(Or will they react in a somewhat more overly dramatic manner, like... well...)

They have gone to great lengths to leave religious matters ambiguous. If they clearly state it all to be a lie, then I'll eat Cullen's pauldrons. Heh.
@PatrickWeekes: @bramblefae @DAEanders6 er, LAH-vell-AHN. Thank you, autocorrect.
Wow, not what I expected! I was thinking either rhymes with Magellan or just "LAH-vell-ahn. That second stressed syllable is throwing me off. And also I'm sitting in my office saying it over and over again under my breath, hoping none of my colleagues notices.
