They have gone to great lengths to leave religious matters ambiguous.  If they clearly state it all to be a lie, then I'll eat Cullen's pauldrons.  Heh.

Agreed. I don't think they will clear this point up entirely. The Maker will always be a something ambiguous and they'll leave it to the player to decide if he is real or not.

So, my question for everyone is: If the Maker does indeed turn out to be a lie, how do you think this will affect our more religious characters, like Leliana, Cassandra and Cullen? Will they be afraid, confused, angry?

(Or will they react in a somewhat more overly dramatic manner, like... well...)

that would be helluva plot twist *o*

i'd say they could be confused, maybe angry, questioning the whole idea of "lying" about maker for decades.

True. I've always suspected that the world of Thedas was more of a pantheon when it came to the various dieties within it. The Maker might exist, but I don't know if he's the "definitive" God that created everything?

Wow, not what I expected! I was thinking either rhymes with Magellan or just "LAH-vell-ahn. That second stressed syllable is throwing me off. And also I'm sitting in my office saying it over and over again under my breath, hoping none of my colleagues notices.

Good for confirmation, I suspected it was pronounced LAH-vell-AHN, since it reminded me of Lethallan which also ends in "AHN". That and my already bizarre accent that tours through most of South West England, managed to get the hard "AH" sound spot on!

Yeah, I think that's what they were going for.  Characters in the setting might "know", in that they believe it for sure, but we, the players, are never to know for certain.

Oh good point; it is very similar to Lethallan/Lethallin!

That's always how I thought it would sound. See, now I'm not sure if I've been accentuating the right bits now, lol.

I'm guessing the second stressed is lesser. I can't think of what it's called and it's not really used much any more.

Seriously. I'm saying this out loud now, and I'm not at all sure I've got it.  Guess I'll just have to wait till I hear it said properly.

When I asked Aaryn Flynn how to pronounce it back when the Surnames were first announced he said it sounded like this: "La-ver-lan" (but said faster) which is how I've been pronouncing it.

Like in Origins, where only Jon Curry pronounced Zevran the correct way, as "Zev-RAN" rather than Zev-run".

Cullen: Excuse me, Lavellan, I have some repor-

Elfquisitor: It's LAH-vel-AHN.

Cullen: I'm sorry, what?

Elfquisitor: My name. It's pronounced LAH-vel-AHN. Not La-vell-an.

Cullen: What's the difference?

Elfquisitor: One is my name... the other is not.

Someone just said I'm a "poet with the soul of a rattlesnake". That may be, I think, the best compliment ever.

Yep. I always loved that scene because Pulaski comes across a incredibly rude for arguing how to say his name after he just told her, while for a (supposedly) emotionless robot, was it my imagination or was Data rather irritated and snippy when he offered his retort?

(Whereas if it were Cullen in that scene, I could imagine him being far politer when questioning how to say Lavellan correctly)

Cookies all around! Where's that Cookie-Cullen-Monster picture?

Inquisitor Question Time

While Josephine is our diplomatic consultant and our go-to lady for all our political needs, as the head of the Inquisiton the Inquisitor will no doubt have to make their own public appearances and the like. How comfortable will they be with this? How skilled are they at reigning in a sharp tongue and practising tact, as they now represent more than simply themselves? Basically, how many people will your Inquisitor end up insulting? Will they get a handle on this or will they forever be without a single care to give when it comes to such things?

Fëanor knows that he has to act in a certain way now that he's the leader of the Inquisition. While he needs practice to master the art, he's capable of Speaking with important figured and in public, and to be composed.
Even when he's enraged he'd act more like Vivienne in that matter.

Oooh!

Ok, so with public appearances my Inquisitor will do fine once up on stage/in public but prior to that she's likely cacking her pants and worrying that people are judging her looks/tact/charm/etc. As for reigning in a sharp tongue... it really depends on what mood she's in at the time, sometimes she's great and can avoid swearing and even give Vivienne a run for her money with the eloquent comebacks and back-handed compliments, other times she's bloody awful. Definitely at first she'd have to remind herself to watch her words when dealing with certain types, she has a habit of putting herself in it a lot... but sometimes she'll be purposely shocking or offensive just for the fun of it!
