Inquisitor Question Time
While Josephine is our diplomatic consultant and our go-to lady for all our political needs, as the head of the Inquisiton the Inquisitor will no doubt have to make their own public appearances and the like. How comfortable will they be with this? How skilled are they at reigning in a sharp tongue and practising tact, as they now represent more than simply themselves? Basically, how many people will your Inquisitor end up insulting? Will they get a handle on this or will they forever be without a single care to give when it comes to such things?
Yayayay question time ![]()
Auren -- He will feel a little uncomfortable in fancy dress if that's required, though he'll have no idea how good he'll look in it
When it comes to holding his tongue and practicing tact, er, a great big fat NOPE to that. He has a temper and will quickly lose it, especially if he gets frustrated or thinks no one is understanding what he's trying to say. He is also less likely to listen to the opinion of someone he doesn't respect.
Kael -- I am really looking forward to any "official" ballroom setting because he will wear the gaudiest most outlandish thing possible
He will have a swell time conversing and hobnobbing with all the important folk, even as they likely look down their nose at him for being an elf and a mage. I wouldn't call him tactful; he won't lose his temper but he'll quip something inappropriate if some important person is being a boob... he won't hold back.
Basically I'm looking at aggressive/direct personality for Auren and snarky/joke personality for Kael ![]()

It's pretty cool and eccentric; I'd love it for my Dalish mage!
In their defence, when I try to say Zevran correctly in my accent, it sounds very weird and unnatural, kinda like I'm being strangled on that last syllable.Like in Origins, where only Jon Curry pronounced Zevran the correct way, as "Zev-RAN" rather than Zev-run".
Cullen: Excuse me, Lavellan, I have some repor-
Elfquisitor: It's LAH-vel-AHN.
Cullen: I'm sorry, what?
Elfquisitor: My name. It's pronounced LAH-vel-AHN. Not La-vell-an.
Cullen: What's the difference?
Elfquisitor: One is my name... the other is not.

Again many characters but..
Skye: She will probaply insult lot of people with cheerful smile on her face without even noticing it ^^; She's pretty headstrong with her opinions and doesn't really lie so I think she would easily get into trouble. She is sincere talker though and her optimism tends to stick on those who are willing to listen.
Valpur: Her public appearances might not be best for Orlais but she surely can deliver short and striking speeches. She won't be very comfortable being in balls and other events where she needs to socialize a lot and mind her manners. She is also pretty honest and straighforward when speaking so there surely will be insulted nobles.
Tamarin: He will try his best and prepare a lot with help of Josephine and Dorian, maybe Vivienne and Leliana too if they have time. He can be quite smooth talker with some experience and with good amount of practice he surely can be tactful and avoid insulting anyone.. unless he wants to of cource.
Michal: Being raised in noble family he's used to parties, socializing and public appearances. Not that he likes them much, but he is comfortable enough to behave accordingly.

My quizzy will hate having to speak publicly, it is one of her absolute nightmare scenarios. She is well versed in how she should go about it but her shyness will be a stumbling block to begin with. I have a notion many of the people she has to address or speak to will see her as stand-offish or rude although that would be furthest from her intent.
She just wants any chat over and done with asap so she can go back to cringing somewhere. I could see her trying to bring about openings in her conversations that would allow her to pass the focus onto other advisors/companions and escape.
I'm hoping her confidence will grow as the game and relationships pass, she'll get a handle on it perhaps even to the point where they can't get her to shut up ![]()

Gale can put on appearances like nobody's business, and can definitely is a top player in the political game. That being said, he uses Vivienne to great effect, letting her help him write his speeches as well as dress him for every occasion.
The only time Gale would ever lose composure is if you really irritated him via egregious ignorance and intolerance. If that were to occur, you'd best hope he doesn't freeze the blood in your veins or incinerate you into ash.

Your Inquisitor's relationship with Vivienne makes me smile so much. I have the best mental image of those two writing speeches together and there being much wit and subtly insulting sass towards the bastards in the room. ![]()

Zhenya might need coaching on the specific ins and outs of the Orlesian court, for instance, but anyone who's survived among the Carta is going to have a good sense of when to hold their tongue, and she'll be quite comfortable with making speeches, etc (with coaching). Though it's very likely the temptation to puncture someone's pomposity may win over common sense at some point, especially if someone's condescending.
The human mage has gotten by with being very quiet and unnoticed and listening carefully. She's not comfortable being the center of attention, but she'd get through it. They'll find her very hard to manipulate, and she won't insult anyone, but she won't exactly wow them with her oratory most of the time either.

Anais never saw herself as a leader despite that she possesses the skills. A part of her is afraid the power will somehow go to her head, like the Chantry teaches about mages. But she knows as the Inquisitor she must make appearances and appear strong and in control. She would ask Josephine for help, and practice hard before making any appearances. Anais would not sleep the night before, and run purely on adrenaline the next day - Josephine would advise Anais to cover the circles under her eyes beforehand. The day would be a blur, but she remembers putting people at ease and swaying the crowd with her sincerity.
Josephine would proudly state that Anais, while has a long way to go before she has a sound tongue, is well on her way.
I imagine Vivienne would gladly provide a few tips. ![]()
As the game goes along, Anais would become more comfortable with making public appearances. She will learn to spot a lie and warp it to her advantage. And since she already handles bullshit very poorly, it will take her a while to not outright accuse the person of lies. So...insults and singed eyebrows are very likely. XD
Anais will become rather good at politics, but finds it tiresome to play into them. She leaves most things to Josephine unless it is absolutely necessary she makes an appearance. In the end, Anais would rather have her comrades close at hand and handle a situation head-on rather than behind a desk.
Let's hope my magical eating powers/ blood magic returns and y'all get a new trailer while I'm having lunch!
what's on the menu today Eric?
To answer my own question...!
My boy's been raised in that kind of environment since childhood, so he's had the dos and donts hammered into him almost as hard as the Chantry's law. He knows how to handle himself on the ballroom and in political debate. Problem is? He just doesn't care too. At all. He'd much rather be nickin' that nice silver chalice with the amethysts that's sitting on the table than talking to the owners about whatever problem they claim to have. And he tends to let his boredom show; that easy smile will never drop, but tongue and wit will certainly grow sharper as the night progresses.
He does understand he's the head of an organisation now, but his behaviour covers this need to avoid responsibility, at least the kind that is thrust upon him without his word or consent. Before the Breach his parents wished Chantry service on him, and after the breach? Now he has a glowing green palm that demands he take this position of leadership he never wanted. He might not kick and scream about it, but by the Maker he'll snark your ear off over it.
As the story progresses? He'll mature. He will. He might never be happy with where he ended up, but he'll realise the people he helps, the world he saves, and the relationships he's made along the way are worth more than the silent grousing and occasional complaint.

So, what does your Inquisitor/Inquisitors think of Cullen? Surely many of them will romance him but outside of that what do they think of him and his believes? What is their first impression and will it change when they get to know him better? ^^

I'd describe Alexander as being a mixture of Harry Dresden and Bigby Wolf, someone who doesn't particularly care about his appearance, how many people he insults or how many toes he has to step on as long as he's able to get the job done at the end of the day.
He'll probably end up driving Josephine to distraction with how much she'll have to run around after him, trying to spin what he says and does into something positive. He does get that he has to be better and so he will try to make an effort with his apperance and manners when dealing with important people, as well as making a serious effort to show Josephine how much he appreciates her for putting up with him.

Oh, this one is simple. My Elven qwizzy is hands-down amazing with communication. Articulating her views, arguing her points without alienating her opponents, and sharing her considerations with any multitude of people -- she's a natural-born story-teller, basically. An orator, even. She'd be just as happy gathering and sharing lore among her clan, as she is swinging a blade in their defense, really. And she really does see words and speech as a kind of weapon, that sometimes swaying opponents over to your own cause is the best means to end a fight than even the fight itself.
