My computer has decided to start overheating (and shutting down) even when I'm trying to play games like DA:O. This does not look good for da:I. I'm trying everything to fix it right now, but neither cooling pad or removing dust is helping. I'm down to replacing the thermal paste, if that does not help I will have to get a new one. And this one isn't even that old. Not happy, I had planned on spending my money on something other than a new laptop.

Just thought I'd share my misery :/

Could you imagine playing DAI on your PC? Your computer would literally explode from its awesomeness!  :D

Replacing the thermal paste can do wonders. I hope it works for you. But as someone who's very familiar with overheating computers, let me tell you that DAO causes it a LOT more than DA2 or other more recent games. It sounds insane because it's an old game, but it's harder to run. My last laptop could run DA2 on high settings just fine but overheated like crazy with DAO.

I have wondered if I should upgrade my PC for DAI as well but it turns out I'd need to replace so many parts.. even the case of PC so I think I'll just settle with my PS3. Too bad I can't have glorious screenshots with it though.

Well...looks like I'll be running a mage named Gale on Xbox One.

Anybody wanna party up?

Really late reply here (I just got home from work), so I'm not sure if you'll see this, but I'm on Xbox One too. I'll party up with you, if you like.

Actually, if there's anyone else on Xbox One here, I'd be happy to play with you. :) I love co-op games, and I adored the ME3 MP. I sank over 400 hours into it... >.> and I made a lot of cool friends on there as well. So being able to do something like this again will be awesome!

We're only playing with people who suck at multiplayer!   :P

There's been heaps of people saying they want to team up to try it out , so there are definitely plans to bring the Cullen thread to multiplayer across the different platforms.   :D

Yeah, this. DAO is absolute murder for overheating, but they seem aware of the problem. Mind you, DAI is going to be a newer game and may have higher system specs, but I don't think they're going to put quite as much strain on the processor. Just the graphics card.

You have my sympathy :(

My PSU burned out two days ago. My heart sank when I heard that my entire pc could have been fried along with it.

Thankfully it survived and got a new, beter PSU now :)

Maybe the PSU is the problem for you as well?

Good morning fellows :)

Yup, I'm on pc too, according to the test thingy I can play BF4 on minimum settings so I should be alright for DAI, I don't mind having to tweek the settings down a little.

If there is an mp group started, I wouldn't mind an invite Lola, if you get a chance :)

We've embraced the co-op feature so well and positively, I think we deserve a reward from Bioware....more character/li info please  .

Make me play as a warrior, or an archer class :P I'll suck then.

But gimme a rogue and I may end up just dying a lot because I'll be like, ":O LOOK AT ALL THESE THINGS I CAN OPEN LOOK AT ALL THIS LOOT OH GOD I'M DEAD"

:o I'm excited to play and meet new people, but I'm also excited for getting to hear Cullen tell me what to do on our mission

If we ever play together, I imagine every time we do a mission for Cullen, there will be a lot of screaming and flailing at the beginning of that mission. :P

*screaming and flailing*

"GUYS!"

"Yes?"

"We need to start a new lobby and restart!"

"What? Why? The mission hasn't even loaded yet!"

"I uh... missed what Cullen was saying? So... I need to... hear him again? Perhaps several times. Just to be sure."

 At that rate, we'd never ever actually play a game of MP. We'd just keep leaving lobbies and restarting the MP campaigns where he talks to you. Forever. Hopefully Bioware doesn't penalize you for quitting out too many times like Bungie does, although to be fair when that happens it is really annoying.

I predict what I'll find most challenging about MP combat is not being able to pause. I pause a lot, guys

I don't think that's Anders.

Just a character that looks like Anders and is wearing his kind of robes.

I predict what I'll find most challenging about MP combat is not being able to pause. I pause a lot, guys

Yeah, it was a little jarring at first, going from the ME3 campaign to MP, because I also pause a lot. I play an insanity vanguard, so being able to pause-charge-pause-repeat was always so useful, because I could plan my next target or escape route, and also so I could direct everything and everyone else. (I did the same in DA:O as well, although I'm finding that in DA2 my playstyle is closer to that of how I played in the ME3 MP.) So the change was quite jarring, and until I got used to it I died a lot.

But when you have a really good team with you, it gets easier. You don't all have to be really crazy good or anything, but being able to communicate REALLY helps and improves everyone's experience. You can watch each other's backs and catch dangers that you would have caught in the SP during a pause, for instance. "There's a phantom right behind you, look out!" Or I suppose in DA:I's case, it'd be something more like, "Rogue on your back! Don't worry, I've got it!" or, "Can someone please cover me while I try and pick this lock so we can check out that loot?"

So it's good that the people in this thread are excited to play together. I find that multiplayer, no matter what game or what kind, be is PvP or co-op, is always more fun with friends. But that's a given, I suppose. :S

Maker have mercy on my soul

CHART TIME!!!  :wizard:

*snip*

Hey, there is a Dragon Age Keep demo :wizard:  ... Well, at this point they could really make the Keep open to anyone. That would help to turn some sad pandas (like myself. LOL) into very, very happy ones ;).

That sounds like the best way to do MP, if there even is one. (Don't mind me, I'll grumble, but I'm harmless.)

Who here will be playing on PC?

I am on PC. I would love to try out some MP but my Engish isn't that good. Also, I'm probably in a different time zone than most of the rest of you (Central European Time). Despite that it could still be fun to drink alkohol, chat in English and kick some monsters' butts in the middle of the night :D. So, count me in.

If you can afford it, I'd go with at least Core i7 and 8GB of RAM. The DAI engine is more demanding than the Sims one.

Take a look at the Battlefield 4 minimum/recommended specs, DAI's will probably be around those.

I second that. If you are going to spend money on a new PC, always invest in RAM. It's something like a thumb rule: Look at today's standards of RAM and double them. Most PCs use 4 or 8 GB today. That's why I would even suggest 16 GB of RAM. But if that makes your PC too expensive go for 8 GB. RAM is really the one thing that outdated very quickly.

It'd be fun to have a Cullenite multiplayer party from time to time :D

Lol, that's true. This thread was all "Yeah, let's all suck at MP together!"

That's what I love about this thread :D  - we all want just to have fun.

I don't have anyone in RL that would play either but fear not, the Cullenites Ultimate Failquisition is here to help lol.

It seems already as if we have most platforms being played upon, so it shouldn't be a major problem getting some of the gang to play with.

I predict what I'll find most challenging about MP combat is not being able to pause. I pause a lot, guys

Lol, I think even without a deliberate "pause" button, there will be a lot of natural pausing for most of us anyway. Some of us to admire the scenery, some of us to swoon over Cullens voice, some working out what buttons & skills do (mixed in with lots of "oops sorry guys!" as you realise THAT button was armageddon), then of course there is the strong possibility of the permanant pause i.e being dead pixels :).

We will ofc need screenshots and caption competitions.

Well, isn't it a classic Tevinter robe?

We could wear the same robes in DAO as well.

He's a part of Cullen's unit. All of the troops under his command wear fur on their shoulders to emulate him. It's a part of their uniform. :P Everyone who reports to Leliana have awesome and fabulous foot wear, and everyone who reports to Josie have... uh... inky hands. >.> Or something much better than what I can think of right now. :S
