I need to make myself feel better, so question time! Admittedly late...
Inquisitor Question Time
Everyone has flaws or something that haunts them. What is your Inquisitor's biggest flaw? Or what is something that personally haunts them? Such as temper, depression, anxiety, an inability to commit, fear of attachment... things such as that.
Anais is technically me as well...so...
Depression, emotional suppression, nightmares, and anxiety. She feels like she let her family down for being a mage - something they have fought against for generations. And since she is the sole survivor of what happens in Haven, she will have survivor's guilt and constantly think she could have saved someone somehow. There is also some underlying anger in her that is tapped into in a last ditch effort to survive if a situation turns bad; Anais is afraid of losing control of it because she doesn't want to hurt anyone.
Thanks to this song here, I have a new headcanon when it comes to something that haunts Anais. An older brother or cousin she was once close to is in the templars - they got into a huge fight over the war and how mages are treated, and he said to Anais that he would not hesitate to kill if he met her in battle. They met again later on the field, and he was holding mages hostage telling the leader of Anais' group to surrender if he wanted them to live. The leader was just going to leave, but Anais wouldn't have any of it. With help, Anais and the other mages were able to set the hostages free after a failed attempt at compromise. The majority of the templars following her brother/cousin had died in the skirmish, and he was left alone with his wounds, screaming that she was a just a weapon and a monster.
I love torturing my characters. *sips tea*
