Ah, I see! Hmmm... yeah, seems jury's still out on that. I can imagine lots of reasons/scenarios to be pissed about being called Knight Captain/Commander when you're not.
I"m just comforted that they're not pulling a semantic fast one with his char profile. I mean "former templar knight captain" could also refer to someone who has been promoted within the templars since we last saw him as captain. Taken all together, along with Brianne's comments about how he is disenchanted with the Order and now serves the Inquisition "instead," it's clear that he's not currently working for them. But could he have been, say, on temporary assignment and that's why he still wears the sword of mercy? Or did he quit and wears it for sentimental reasons? He had nothing else to wear on picture day??
But if he was one of the 15 KC to opt to break away from the Chantry then why would Cassandra have asked him to join the Inquisition? She and Leliana are Divine loyal, the Inquisition was formed by the Divine. No way would they hire him if he had been part of the templar rebellion.
Is there a chance its a placeholder armour to avoid spoilers, similar to what they confirmed they have done in the Lelliana images?
That might be the case - if you look at the screenshots currently on his profile, the only thing with the Sword of Mercy are his bracers, at least as far as I can see.
When do the Templars break from the Chantry in the Asunder novel? Is that before or after Cassandra's visit?
Before, because Varric references it when talking to Cass. Also confirmed in timeline in WoT.

But it says that not all the 15 wanted to sign it.
"Those few that held private reservations would either remain silent or be replaced." Directly quoted from the book.

He couldn't have been a Knight Commander then, or at least, not one that rebelled.

Unless he's one of the reluctant ones that Lambert mentions and Cullen joins Inquisition after as a chance to escape a bad situation.

LIke I said in above post, I don't think that's necessarily the case. Every KC signed it, and yet we know some templars are still loyal and not everyone *wanted* to sign. I think one could easily defect sides after the accord is broken.
edit: TTFN!

I dunno, I don't think Cassandra would ask him to join even if he had just reluctantly agreed to the rebellion. She hired him for his loyalty, initiative, and strong sense of responsibility etc, knowing how black and white Cass sees everything, there's no way she would have offered him the job otherwise.
Awkward moment when I think Argent could have made a really interesting companion. Non-romanceable of course, otherwise things could turn horrible with that 'I am a tool' mindset she has.
WOW that looks really REALLY good
I saw this on tumblr. I just sat and stared at it. So beautiful. *sigh* The artwork surrounding this game is awesome...and it just makes me want the game more than I already do. It's almost painful. ![]()
Ok, so I think I've worked it out.
A mage and templar/ex-templar are kicking off at each other and Cullen steps in to interrupt the brawl. Angry Templar shouts that the mage's kind killed whoever/people/the Divine/whatever, angry mage tells him/her to shut his/her mouth, then possibly refers to Cullen directly as the Knight Captain, to which Cullen responds with "That is not my title etc".
Single player demo just started... they must be running later?

I saw a tweet about issues with power outages, not sure if that delayed anything though

Elves with deep yummy voices? Fenris? Oh my indeed, I definitely have to romance him!
*crosses fingers for non-qunari-gated romance*

I don't think we really know what happened in Kirkwall (though I admit I haven't read some of the books), but he may have never been more than acting Knight Commander there. Or maybe he was seen more as acting Viscount (at least where Hawke sided with the mages). He might have refused and been replaced with an official KC who may have been KC in name only if Kirkwall supported Cullen. Or he may have refused and been forced out, possibly bringing Kirkwall's old Templar forces with him. This could be a situation and line which only comes up for players with specific world states? I admit, I'd love to hear him yelling that line at someone...

New Frostbite screen suggests we see Cullen brawling? Is it awesome to behold? Blink once for no, twice for yes
I have blinked a number of times. Alas twitter is not a visual medium. You will have to behold yourself soon
If I'm reading that slide correctly, information on the mage is concealed, and there are two options for the AT to respond to something (I'm assuming that it indicates different responses based on either a dialogue choice or a world state), one which starts with Kni and the other with Kn, and Cullen responds with that line. Teases, sigh.
Goddammit, the banshees freaked me out.
OOoooh, you can drown.
