xD Have you guys seen this? I'll just leave it here for those who don't venture into Scuttlebutt. I'll leave the link too because he deserves all the wonderful credit. LOL I can't stop laughing. Link to the thread.

Spoiler

/dies

Also, I'm sorry for being out of the news. But there is supposed to be a recorded version of PAX up later, correct? Or have I misheard?

Also, that HoDA. : o  He looks so awesome! *sheds single tear* I used to have it but my phone did this weird restart thing and deleted it and all of it's data. I died a little that day.

Edit: Cullen for top:

Here's what Allan had to say about the 8 ability limit and worries of having to constantly be changing your hotbar for every fight:

Just to be clear on this since I see people using the term "prepare you quickslots before every battle."  You won't need to prepare your quickslots before every battle... your quickslots definitely remain assigned with their existing abilities.

Excessive loadout switching would require two circumstances: Having more than 8 abilities and level design/combat encounters designed in a way that would necessitate this level of micromanagement.

I'm saying that you only need to change your quickslots IF

- You have more than 8 abilities (since if you don't have extra abilities, there's no point in swapping out currently assigned abilities with nothing).  Note, our game has a lot more passive and upgrade abilities that won't require a quickslot.

- If you think that the encounters actually require you to constantly remap your controls between every battle.

EG:  If the 8 abilities you have assigned work fine for a particular area/region, you won't have to remap constantly.  You'll just keep using the same ones.

While I would probably debate whether or not this decision is innately "bad design" simply by its existence, I would say that if the game design is set up such that changing your mapped abilities constantly is a requirement, then that would be poor decision.

Constantly needing to remap the abilities would mean that our encounters vary intensely and frequently.  It would also mean that our encounters are also typically very long since you'd also have to deal with mana/energy requirements to have to cycle through each ability.  You used the word "identical" so I suspect there's going to be a disagreement you and I will have about what level of variation would mean that an encounter is "identical" so I'm not sure how well we can reconcile that aspect.

Finally got HoDA!Cullen to tier 4 and level 85 today, so he now looks like the HoDA artwork!

Here's what Allan had to say about the 8 ability limit and worries of having to constantly be changing your hotbar for every fight:

OK, so sounds like we'll have a lot fewer abilities, just upgrades of existing abilities and passive abilities. That shouldn't be too bad. In DAO, with my bar fully extended, I had almost 30 slots, and while 3 or 4 would be for potions, by the end of the game, my mages would have too many things to put on the bar at once.

Yep! By the end of Origins, Awakening, and all of the DLC, my hotbar looked like this:

It had to have been. The explosion killed thousands, I don't see how haven could not have been hit.

It may be that the particular type of explosion is harder on bodies than on buildings. I mean, it is magic. So the people may have been incinerated where they stood but not every structure necessarily collapsed, so one could theoretically still go there.

You know, you have a point there and I think I agree. The explosion was enough to take out the temple, but we see a green shockwave ripple outwards, something that seems to echo through the Fade and reality. I believe the green shockwave is what precipitates the Veil breaching and beginning to fall. So it's entirely possible that the blast was solely able to drain the life of the people and entomb them in lyrium, and wasn't meant to fully annihilate the surroundings outside the initial blast radius.

Caught up! And right now I only have one question about the Keep... what if we don't have our games registered? Can we still re-create our saves or does it connect to your computer to scan for the games you have?  :crying:

You can recreate them all manually, it's all good. I actually had to do that cause some of my Origins stuff got corrupted.

Here's hoping Hawke cameo still happens even if I have to re-create them from scratch. I'll sulk to infinity if it doesn't.

They've said you can use the Keep to set your world state even if you haven't played the games, if you are so inclined.

Also, not everyone plays on computer, and not everyone played all their games on the same platform, so mandatory scanning for them just wouldn't be workable. :)

Yeah, there is that. With people playing on different platforms and stuff. I was just asking because I don't have my games registered, so scanning my origins/Bioware profile won't do sh!t.

There's been like...0 discussion on Cullen in the past 2 pages ._.

So let me kick it off again :P
Id like to see how Cullen has developed from the "ready to kill all mages" in Dragon Age Origins to the slightly more hardened Cullen in Dragon Age 2. I will say that he's lookin a ton more sexier then he did before, with that mane and everything :P

*strokes chin* Well... wouldn't you just have to play through both games to see that?

So do I. :P I hope as we get to learn more about him in DAI, we can know his thoughts in between the events. Such as what helped him come to the conclusion that the Templars aren't always doing the right thing.

I have ? Im trying to say Id like to see how he develops past those two games and his behaviour in them. In the beginning he was so ready to do everything he was ordered, now it seems like he puts more thought into what he does. Honestly Id like to have cullen as my new Alistair (Aka I always bring him on every mission possible). Plus come on...look at that dudes mane!

Just wanted to pop in to say I've been working with, well, I'm not sure what his title is, but he maintains the DAI website. I brought to their attention the issue some of us were having when viewing the Inquisitor page when using Chrome. If you're still having the issue of graphics not showing up, try clearing your cache. Evidently Chrome was storing an old version of the page.
