I saved Amaranthine and fortified Vigil Keep to minimize losses.
I doubt we'll know which choices are best till the actual game. As I understand it, the Keep is more to keep track of your past choices, not to show you the results of them in the future. That'll be part of the surprise in DAI.
Okay, so I just looked up my profile and I literally have the trophy that states I fortified the Keep to the max...so did I make a mistake or did it glitch? The soldier commander said that bad news had only came from the keep and then I looked on the map and it said that it was destroyed by the Darkspawn.
*sighs* I think I may start a new character in DAO to just smite some darkspawn again.

I plan to save the Keep with my next Warden, Serena Brosco. Initially, she thinks on who is the one in the right (which is why she sides with the werewolves completely), but she does try to think in the long run by the time she reaches Redcliffe, which is why she decides to save it. Same with siding with Bhelen and saving the mages.
Yeah for Elissa she sided with the Elves...and the Werewolves as well, as in she was able to get them all to become human again without killing the clan. She saved Redcliffe, chose Bhelen, destroyed the Anvil, saved the Mages, and hugged a nug for boot!

It may be glitched. Several of my companion endings were glitched.
That said, even if the the Keep is upgraded it is heavily damaged, with personnel loss and a need to rebuild, and it becomes inaccessible on the map. Upgrading doesn't prevent that, it just minimizes your losses.

@Zarro-Morningstar: Outside of siding with Bhelen, I made those choices with my Human Mage. XD Serena does a bit more questionable choices, but she is my hardened character who believes not everyone can be saved. So in the case with Connor...she chooses to sacrifice Isolde to save them (then again, she blames her for what happened anyway so...).

Well dang...oh well if I really want to I can change the decision in the Keep, or replay it some other time but for now I am going to go spend an hour in DA2. A new character shall be born!

Yeah, sounds like a plan.
My project of the last few days has been recreating my DA characters in Guild Wars 2. It has been surprisingly fun and gratifying. ![]()

She sounds logical, hopefully that pays off in the end, lol!
I always saved Amaranthine. The companions were never really a problem for me because I brought all of them with me.
How did you manage to take them all with you?

Crafty sounds better. Foxes are crafty. And foxes are cool. They are the most feline of canines. Hence cool.

I plan on doing that for Sims 4, it will be quite amusing to see how my characters fare in modern life. ![]()

I play on the downloaded PS3 version and there's a glitch that allows me to make the decision to save Amaranthine and bring three companions with me. After that, I highlight the exit and select it to go back to the keep and get another companion. Rinse and repeat. She sounds logical, hopefully that pays off in the end, lol!

@Zarro-Morningstar: I am hoping so, and I hope the same with yours.
Though I do have a Dalish Elf in mind that is gonna be more jerkish than the others. XD Where he leaves Redcliffe to die, makes Loghain a Warden, protects the elves, has Bhelen rule with the Anvil intact...and probably sabotages the Sacred Ashes. ^^;

Thanks guys, I really did cry after all.
ANYWAY, before my Keep panic attack
I was going to post...
I usually save Amaranthine too, but I always make sure to fortify the Keep so it still stands after the siege. In my main canon (the one where I'll romance our noodle prince next) it was partly because my Cousland was BFFs with Nathaniel and I had this headcanon that he would absolutely want to search for Delilah in Amaranthine no matter what; and partly because the nobles hate your guts for saving the peasants, and I love making them mad after they tried to kill me over Howe, of all things.
Justice and Anders I leave at the Keep so they'll "die" together in the siege and tie more tightly into DA2, and Nate I always bring to the final fight because I need to always see dat nose again in DA2.

FWIW, the devs were just chatting about how that is an option in the Keep, at long last, to save Amaranthine with an upgraded Keep that survives. So, yay, Nate is alive in some version of my saved universe! Jeesh... I never saw the Schroedinger parallels before.I fortified the Keep as well but it glitched out and would not take away Dworkin's Lyrium sand quest, the same with Wade's, and the Wraith quest. So when I went to Amaranthine and finished that they said the Keep had fallen
I really hope that the Keep gives you the option to save both.
